Thanks to those who pointed out the error on one of the slides. 720p is (of course) 1280 x 720px. Minor point as it doesn't affect the results. Happy flying
You did find i understood it well enough thanks i can wait im still on domintator v3 lol anything will be better on hd probably going to get hdzeros with a walksnail or just walksnail head set
Which of the 2 would you prefer?
I have HDO2 and HD3 and a Walksnail VRX and found exactly the same thing as Painless360. The jump from analogue for 8 years to digital is a mind bending one!
This is the test I wanted. Happy to see that my old HDO can work.
HDO 4x3 is underrated. People forget that we're pilots not spectators. That smaller horizontal fov and larger vertical fov is best for flying
I like 4:3 for quads and 16:9 for fixed wing... Happy flying
did you get the walksnail for them? mines coming. I have HDO, I am excited but Im also worried about being disappointed

@@filiped7298 Im excited. taking shows that they arrived in nearest city, so they should be delivered tomorrow. Problem now though is that it is rainy season in my country, been raining all day. Fingers crossed for no rain tomorrow. I'll come back and let you know what I think

I like the fatshark recon goggles for walksnail . The built in antennas are completely inside the goggles and not bending or breaking in the fpv carry bag and unscrewing and reattachig and swiveling down when using them .

I still didn't decide if I'm going to get the Walksnail goggles or the VRX and the HDZero goggles... But it won't happen soon, so I've still have some time to decide.

Excellent, I didn’t find any testing with HDO yet on youtube, so huge thanks. The new 4:3 walksnail cam + original HDO goggles may be even better result for the HDO gen1, would really like to see or hear opinions on that.

Thanks for the comparisons! Since the avatar V2 cameras support 4:3 natively, maybe that will work perfect at 960x720 in the HDOs, and better in the HD3s

Yeah, I have no doubt about how much better it is. My "hobby" budget has been reduced till my son is out of college. :-)
I have tried the Avatar module on my Transformer goggle with the single panel box. It works great and this will be my guest goggles when the share mode is working better than it is now.

The HDMI FPV screen on my bench is the panel from those goggles. Lovely screen!

Still looking at my first digital system, glad to know my original HDO's will work when I decide to spend the $. All the people talking about the digital systems seem to forget not everyone is willing or able to spend 100-150$ for every camera and transmitter, never mind the VRX.I can get great quality analog for about 70$ all in.

As an HD3 owner, this was extremely useful as it finally quashes my "I wonder if" thoughts. I'm still uncertain what HD system to get for my occasional FPV flying as I'll definitely still have some machines on analogue. Do Walksnail and HD3 take the same barrel plug? If so, I'll probably get Avatar Goggles and simply use my Furious FPV smart battery cable on either goggle ...
All of the Fatshark goggles have the same barrel connectors... Happy flying

I use hd3 with vrx, but something wrong. Dvr cannot show on goggles when i connect to video transmitter also when i switch to vrx menu it supposed to be blank. Any idea sir?

My FPV goggles are the skyzone. 02X. It does have an HDMI in, so I’m assuming this kit would work well with that set of goggles. I am interested in getting into HD FPV eventually, but I’m one of the folks who sees the cost, so finding a way to get in for an affordable price is important.

Is there a significant range difference between the Recon goggles with the built in antennas and the Dominators/Walksnail goggles with the external antennas?
I've not had the Recons to test here so can't comment on that. Best of luck

Yes, use the alternative osd layouts, same as analogue... Happy flying
On my HDO (v1) the WS VRX unit is extremely picky with the HDMI connection. The cable that came with the system often does not work, the HDzero cable often does not work. I bought a 20cm DJI 'Ronin' branded mini-mini HDMI cable which does seem to work, and whenever I route the HDMI signal over a capture device with input and output ports it works flawless too. Tried 760p60 and 1080p60, makes no difference. Tried various firmwares too, no difference.
The HDZero VRX (original white one) works flawless each and every time, no matter which HDMI cable is used to connect the VRX and HDO.
Does anybody else recognise this?
Other than this, I am still quite happy with the HDO v1 and WS. Image quality and range is both pretty good.
However, if those HDMI issues persist I do need an upgrade. No HDMI or analog input on the WS goggles really is a dealbreaker for me, HDZero goggles are not available for general purchase yet. Let's hope it keeps working for a little while.
Hi Lee, in my campervan that I use as a base when flying my planes, I have an HD 16" TV, I'm wondering what the module would be like on a television!
I've used one on the PC monitor here and looks fab!

how is the range between the VRX vs goggles

I tested it in my 030 goggles. It looked very good but at some point I haf an unexpected black screen and had to force a crash landing. Still not sure if its the goggles or the VRX module that caused the black screen.
I've not had that with the VRX unit here (always useful to mention the FW version with WS issues). Anyone else seen that?
How does it looks in o3o... stretched ?.
Got the same issue with the rx. Had to use stand alone battery for Google and rx in order to avoid the issue.
@@dcvshambhu No ot actually looks really good. If it was not for my concern with black screen issue I would have been extremely please. I flew a few times already and so far it only happened to me once.
@@laqusbronz Well good to hear that using a seperate battery resolved it. Maybe I should try that as well. It only happened to me once over several flights. But it would be really bad if it happens right when you are over water or something.
But what about the latency?
Some other goggles have slow hdmi ports. Check the forums for the goggles you have.
Hello ! I know you can't have all the existing goggles, but according to you, what about the non fatshark goggles ?
Don't have them here. Check they have the pieces outlined in the video and they should work well.
