I am in awe! The way you lay down the pastel is so beautiful, not to mention the color variation. Thank you for being so generous to share your expertise. I really just can't say enough!
Great demo, Alain! I am new to painting, and demos like these from artists like yourself are invaluable for education as well as inspiration. Thank you so much for this demo!
Thanks Alain, this video was a game changer for me. I am starting to understand how to create looser strokes with hatching method and linear strokes. Now I need to practice practice!
Hi Alain - another great demo. I've been painting & teaching for over 40 yrs (oil, acrylic, w/colour etc) and never really got into pastel but you've certainly whetted my appetite to give it a go.
Wonderful Alain! I love and envy the looseness of your work. I wish I could emulate you. I am falling back to detail all the time and just not managing to loosen my mind enough. Thank you! So enjoyable and inspirating! Sophié .
Love your style, Alain! I somehow always end up getting into too much detail. Going to try this one and see how far I get. Knowing when to stop is probably key.
Fabulous , I’m particularly struck by the lightness of your strokes and how short they are. I have a tendency to leave the pastel on the paper too long making longer marks and its not as effective. Your mark making helps achieve the layered effect so much more effectively. I’m taking it all on board and learning everyday. Thanks. Steve UK
Incredible! I've always avoided sunset or sunrise in my paintings but I painted along with your demo and I love the result. Yours of course is sublime!
Thank you, Alain, it’s great to watch how you put down marks and to hear your decision-making throughout the process. I find it very helpful. I have two questions: what was the tool (not the brush) you used to move the pastel towards the end? How would you move from this study to a painting?
Well Alain I am sorry to say I am disappointed. Disappointed in your other viewers (at the time of this comment) of over 600 only 80 feel they need to click the Like button! You produced a fantastic painting in only 30 minutes, yes it is a study but many of us would love to be able to create such a wonderful picture no matter the time limitation. I know we all would like to have longer more in-depth videos, but you have to give your time and efforts to your paying customers, they must come first! I do enjoy watching you create these amazing paintings with such an ease of mark making that we all wish we could emulate. Well the answer is in your classes and of course practice in our own studios too! Keep creating and please share when you have the chance. I look forward to your next video. I hope it will appear soon! Til then, be safe and take care!
I'm a fan of your work and your colors are beautiful. I wish you would rethink adding music to your videos. In this video, the music is louder than your voice and drowns you out. Your information is so good that you don't need the music.
Lovely shimmer of water!

You are so welcome! It's a joy to share with artists like you Debbie, keep painting!
