Very nice build. Bad starting habit though. At 0:29-0:31 you will see why most of these Hondas from the 60's-70's-80's have severely bent kickstands. The kickstand is designed to support the weight of the bike at rest. It is *not* designed to support the weight of the bike, *plus* the full body weight of the rider, *plus* the added stress of the downward kick. Put you leg over the bike, retract the kickstand, and start the bike like a normal person.... lol
+Avus95 its not a stock side stand. I made it. As the stock side stand wasn't the length needed. And its stronger than any cheap Japanese steel. The very odd time I do kick it over. Isn't usually this way. And now the bike has a cb650 motor in it.. It'll never be kicked over again as the 650's didn't come with kick starters.
+RustyOlive hahaha, hey man, no hard feelings here. As I said before I really do like the build. it must be sick with the 650 engine in it now! My current project ('71 CL350) has the aforementioned "gangster lean" and it drives me crazy lol. I'll have to look into fabricating my own side stand, that does honestly sound like the best option for me at this point.
Amazing build! Ive got a sohc 750 and until now it was the best sounding cafe id ever heard with a short yoshi on it. But this sounds even better. Sounds just like a cbr600 rr accept when its in idle 👍
I bought a 18x5.50" blank rim From buchanans. Had them drill and punch the rim so i could spoke it to the cb550 hub. The swing arm I made. The off set rear sprocket carrier i machined. The front 3/8" off set sprocket is from cyclex.
you absolutly fucked my mind its so beautiful ! In Germany a lot of things are Not allowed that you did on your bike wish we would have the Same laws here!
I like the rear tire setup... Where did it come from? I have a 79 xs650 special that I'm building now. I thought about using the rear of a 95 cbr 600 on it, but I just can't make my mind up.
Jon. rear rim is a 18x5.50 Spinwerx blank from Buchanans. They drilled and punched the rim to lacing it to the cb550 rear hub. oversized stainless spokes and nips. Swing arm I made from scratch to fit the 180/55/18 tire. machined a rear off set sprocket carrier. and installed a cyclex off set front sprocket.
What size back tire do you have installed. Also I love the seat cowl. Did you fabricate that yourself. I want my bike looking like yours. I have been searching for a seat similar to that one. It looks sick.
+RustyOlive Thank you for replying back. I hope you don't mind I had a couple other questions. Regarding the Spin Werkes rims you mentioned in one of your other videos, are you running tubes in the tires with them? Also what hub are you using on the front? Any special details about the fitment? I'm looking at a hub from Cognito Moto but figured you must have used something else since it just became available last year or so. Thanks again.
+supersportimpalass sorry for the late reply. Yes, running Spinwerxs rims. 180 tire With tubes. Not running cognito hubs. I machined a new axle and brake adaptor plates. You can find most of the info on the Olivia "face lift" build thread on SOHCforum. Also, keep posted for Olivia 3.0. Lol the bike is getting a CB650 motor transplant in a few weeks.
Love that sound! Just wondering, how tall are you/how long is your inseam? I'm just trying to get a gauge of how much I'd have to make adjustments to a CB550 for my height.
Nice Bike! Looks like you're in the East York area. Curious to know how much it cost to have a bike like that built and who might I get in touch with. Cheers!
William. I built the bike over the last three years in between building other peoples bikes,... lost count of $$ that went into this one... to much is all I have to say. LOL but if you want one built. let me know. we can work something out in your budget.
J Rad Man LOL.. pretty far to ship man... I'm sure there's someone closer to you that can take on the job for less.. LOL I do appreciated the compliment and offer though. =)
Nothing like that sound in the cool air, love it, could listen to it all day!
Man you brought back memories i had 2 550s in my youth and they responded well to mods and had great sound .And they just worked.
Wouldn't change a thing, man; gorgeous build. I can only wish my KZ440 looks half that good once I'm done modding...lol.
Chris L thank you. Hopefully I can put her back together half as nice as she was before the accident.

Its my bike. I'll start it the way I want. Thanks.
+RustyOlive fair enough. But when your bike starts to develop that "gangster lean" while resting on the stand, at least now you'll know why... :)

Wow. That exhaust sounds awesome for a 550. Also that rear rim/tire looks way wide. Is that something other than stock? Nice ride. :)
Yes
That thing looks and sounds absolutely fantastic wow. :o

wow nice bike bro
beautiful
That's gotta be the best looking CB550 I've seen on TH-cam. Can I ask what rear springs you used?
Thanks for the compliment. It was a lot of work to get this far. The rear shocks came from a early 80's Honda XL500.
+RustyOlive Thank you for replying back. I hope you don't mind I had a couple other questions. Regarding the Spin Werkes rims you mentioned in one of your other videos, are you running tubes in the tires with them?

Do you by chance wear any Levi's jeans or a leather greaser type biker jacket?
