Gifting is great, but some of us need the sell some projects to restock our supplies. Otherwise, we're soon out of leather, concho's, rivets, dies and patience.
These will be great stocking stuffers, plus a great way to practice ones tooling and stamping and making a personal die swatch to see which dies we like with different leathers. Thanks for sharing.
I’m wondering about the leather cement vs contact cement. How do you know when to use which? I’ve used contact cement until now but recently bought the white leather cement. But I know nothing about how to use it and the directions on the bottle are quite vague. I also use and love the two sided tape but it is not good for every application. Thanks for your help. 11:10
As I understand, the white (tacky) glue is meant to hold leather together while you stitch it. The contact cement is a more permanent bond that can't really be adjusted. The white glue is also less smelly and easier to clean up. That's what I think.
The white contact cement only needs to be applied to one side of the project and then pressed together, it does need some dry time though because it will move around a bit but this allows you to reposition the pieces if needed. As @JuniorKishin stated, it's not permanent and is great for holding the project together while you stitch.
To be honest, I'd be a bit disappointed with a simple keychain for a gift. Better make it more fancy. I'd use scraps from European purse leather and stitch it.

I'm working on one with a Morgan Dollar Conchos.
I use locktight on my screws if I know they are not supposed to come undone. Way better than Glue
Still waiting for Weaver to make a double lobed fob that can be sewn or laced (prepunched holes) together.
