That was such a fun, great and educative system ! Remember to let wine breath before tasting let them open up ! Also pretty and beautiful wines from Champagne Demière ! Loved them !
Agreed, looking back I think we might have been tricked too because his wines are more on the fresher style. As Carl said, the second one only had 10% reserve wine blended in.
Would you say that the fact that both champagnes was 100% Pinot Meunier also was a contributing factor to why you three got it wrong? I mean it's not that common with 100% PM Champagne (only 1% of Champagne according to Wine Searcher) and at the few occasions I've hade the pleasure to have a 100% PM champagne, i have liked it a lot, but they have felt less "big" and "deep" and more "bright" - much as I also would say I feel about for example a Cremant de Limoux in comparison to a PN/C Champagne.
Very good point. I have to admit that I look for toastiness and both of these were on the fruiter, fresher style. I do enjoy BdN and esp those from 100% Meunier.
This is a very impressive video. The second the winemaker completely disagreed with you guys I was laughing. Also good on you Matthew for sticking to your guns on your initial guess, everybody else was being wishy washy after. It's not like you mistook a prosecco for a champagne or anything no shame in getting confused by cremant or franciacorta.
Thanks a lot. It was a fun fun video. I always try to stick to my initial thought because when you switch, that’s when you get fooled. Also the Champagne’s in the video were on the fresher side without a lot of aged wine in the cuvée, which made it tough.
Great stuff. We need more group blind tasting.
It’s always fun! Gotta have the right group of people though

Good fun! Always humbling experience to blind taste stuff. 😀👏🏼🥂
I agree. Blind tasting is always so tough and there are good days and bad ones…
@@drmatthewhorkey so I guess you have a 50 50 chance of guessing the right one.
Amazing quality videos Doc!!!
Thank you
You got schooled lads haha nice one
I'm not ashamed :)
Do something like this for a red wine varietal expert!!
😃
Will keep my eye out. It’s tough to get people to be willing to be recorded doing blind tastings. Jérôme is very special for wanting to do this!
U should try England sparkling, it’s really interesting
It can very good indeed. Any favorite producers for you?
Just had a bottle of Ambriel, from West Suffex, England. 35$, very nice great value, very close to Champaign.
You should really put in some Ferrari Trentodoc in this, good value and a good interpretation of a similar style to champagne
I do like some of their top labels :)
Need to seek out some Demiere!
Go get it!

But...not many options from new Zealand,South Africa, Portugal...try a couple of them
Yes some very good ones out there!
What are the odds he just recognized his bottles?
He’s a winemaker, I’m sure he recognized his own wines in the palate. I give him respect for saying yes to this

Also wine one is exceptional stuff…
sometimes its good to be schooled by a master 😁
I'm not embarrassed!
It's a bit unfair to have a Winemaker taste their wines blind. They should be able to get them.
You are right, but how many winemakers are willing to blind taste on camera with their own wines mixed in?
@@drmatthewhorkey sure. I agree it was cool he did it.
Do you think wine 5 upset your ability to taste wine 6?
Yes I think it may have
