Service writer ran the vin for recalls so it must not be. Was not aware of the recall until you posted. Just read it. Software update to dial back engine torque under high trans temps. Sounds like something Ford would do.
@@raincitywrench117 The funny thing is the software update seems to be a strange algorithmic fix that detects/looks at heat and slip because these things aren't strong enough even without bad driver input, they are slipping destroying the clutch pack. I guess the flywheel and/or pressure plate fails and it destroys the bell housing. if you look on the JL wrangler forums, this is a pretty known issue that's actually burned some of the jeeps down. Jeep is avoiding really solving the issue, so you pretty much need to replace the clutch with a stronger aftermarket option to really fix it. I'm actually at your video because my wife and I want a manual JL to replace her 6spd golf TDI, and if we buy one I'm looking at what it will take to immediately swap everything out. kinda seems like any other manual, so no biggie.
@@RedSiBaron I'm over 100k into my 6 spd JL and was aware of the recall, but had no idea how bad it was. Now I'm super paranoid and looking into replacing the stock clutch with a stronger aftermarket clutch
I’ve been told you can tell a good mechanic by the cleanliness of their shop- wow, I’m impressed!! Thank you!
Appreciate that! 🙂
nice work! love your fancy torque wrenches
They sure work slick!
lol I came to the comments just to say that I was amazed by that torque wrench. Now I have a new goal to work towards.
Isn't this a systemic problem with the manual transmission on the jeeps? I've seen tons of forum posts complaining about the shutty factory clutches.
Yes it is. Believe it is recall 19A
Has to depend on the Jeep. I have a 15 and there's no recall for the clutch. But mine needs to be replaced after 10 years.
Was this a JL? Apart of the clutch recall?

@@raincitywrench117 yea it sucks. It feels like a boosted motor with turbo log at 2k and 3k rpm
