Who, Capaldi? Yep, he's the nerdiest of all the doctor who nerds. He was 5 when it first premiered. When he was 20 (?) he called in several times wanting to become the president of the fan club, but he was told off. Then, since that didn't work, he became an actor and built up fame until finally in 2014 they said, hey, this is the guy we want.

Peter is a gem. You can tell he loved being The Doctor.
Interviews Capaldi has given since leaving the show suggest otherwise.
@@HOTD108_he’s been a fan of the show since he was a kid, he even wanted to be part of a doctor who fan club and wrote letter to the show. After he left the role he said he doesn’t want to come back to it because his time on the show was special and doesn’t want to spoil the character by keep on coming back

Red setting allows the sonic to work without interference from some creature or something. It doesn't function without the creature nearby, so it would be useless

I love this Screwdriver. It suits Twelve so perfectly.
I noticed that the colours represents the different colours of previous doctors sonics. Like the blue for Capaldi, Ecclestone and Tennant, green for Smith and the red for the classic who doctors and Hurt (R.I.P. John Hurt). Sure the classic who doctors sonics may not glow red but they do have a red tip on the end of the screwdriver
Anyone who's asking why the toy doesn't have the red settings, here's your answer. The blue setting was first shown in the series 9 finale, and the green setting was shown in the 2015 Christmas special. The toy was released a little after, with both these settings available. The red setting has only been recently shown, after the toy's release, so wasn't included.

Well they often rerelease their toys every few years anyway. I think River Song's sonic also had a red setting which wasn't present on one version of the toy, though I believe in that instance it was the original that got it right and the rerelease screwed it up.
Now, if Peter is leaving after series 10, then this whole new screwdriver thing will be a joke.

Character. Now you have to do something with it. The new sonic has a red setting. You can do the perfect sonic. So do it. Everyone who wants a toy replica by Character options like this video so that probably some people from CO see this.
Actually, a company called Dark Cyber Sabers just released a chrome version of Twelve’s V2 Sonic with a red light setting. Not only that, but there’s also a bonus torch setting (white light). The same version can also be found on eBay. This is not a licensed product, but still cool nonetheless!

I personally loved the sonic sunglasses. Not at first! But got used to it.
I liked the sonic sunglasses for one episode but not for an entire series.
I like the sonic sunnies for Capaldi's glasses. Past Doctors used glasses, so making them sonic was a great idea. Still though, keeping the screwdriver as the Doctor's primary sonic tool is the right thing to do. Keep them both, it gives the Doctor an added tool for his idiot with a phone box adventures.
I thought the sunglasses were good. it was a nice change, since this doctor is decidedly more modern than the other ones (plays guitar, *wearable technology* Sonic sunglasses gag, etc)

I would assume that Peter did get to keep the prop after he left. It sort of set things up for Jodie when she started as The Thirteenth Doctor: she had no Sonic Screwdriver on hand after falling to Earth. In-universe explanation: Twelve’s Sonic Screwdriver probably got lost or destroyed after Thirteen was ejected from the TARDIS.

It's probably because the toy was released before the red setting was introduced/shown off. But that's what I think and is just an opinion.
Also, if they do waves, like the other toys, they might add a red setting to a new wave.
Hopefully they don't cock it up, pardon my language.

I agree with Steven. Just because you change something, doesn't mean everything else needs to change also. Just because you have a new doctor or showrunner, doesn't mean everything should change to give them something "unique" to them. Which is why I hope the rumours/stories of Pearl Mackie and Peter Capaldi not doing Series 11 to give Chris Chibnall a clean slate. He doesn't need a clean slate. Why can't he work with what's came before? Peters one thing since he's been there since 2014, if he wants to leave that's fine. If Pearl wants to only do one series, that's fine. But if she wants to do more, then Chris/BBC should let her.
I had an chance to ask Peter during the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo back in April and Teddy at the recent Fan Expo Canada over the weekend about the red setting in this interview, Peter said there wasn't an red setting for his sonic and Teddy doesn't quite remember so he ask one of the other people that was involved with the interview the guy also said the sonic didn't have an red setting.
I have the character version, and it's really good and very identical to the actual rubbertoe prop, bit of spray paint should sort the plastic out!

So is there a way to mod a red light into the toy version, then? Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love how they did the toy rep of 12’s Sonic with so many light and sound options, but a red light addition would easily make it even better.

I have bought the "character options" toy version of this and it only has the blue and green colors, maybe in a few months they are gonna re-release it with the red setting.I am really mad that they didn't include the red setting in the toy but oh well.
LuckyPlucky yeah that's why I'm gonna hold out on buying it until they release the toy with the proper FX.

@@JojoTheVulture Apologies. In the spirit of things, one could say that Capaldi, much like The Doctor, was lying, and there was actually more than one version of the prop back at the studio for safe keeping (just in case).
All the screwdrivers have looked quite similar with the light at the end but this just looks weird having a big glowing stick. I'm sure I'll look back on it and like it one day tho lmao

Bill, also known as pearl, is my favourite companion yet, I re-watched doctor who multiple times and over many weeks, lasting years. Why do people hate such a ecstatic character, she's bubbly n' nice, and you can sympathise with her. She's funny which is why I like her. Basically Donna but more, urban.

AmineGamin the reason people disliked her (and literally the only complaint I had about her character) was that she made sure the audience knew she was gay every chance they got.
I actually don't really think about Bill. Sure, she had a nice character but compared to all the others she was a bit... meh? She did not remain in the foreground of my mind. Personally I liked Martha a lot. Then there was the fact that her sexuality was constantly thrown in our faces. It got noticeable and annoying after a while. Personality wise I like her, but there isn't anything that made you remember her, which I find sad, she could have stayed longer.
Through her hairstyle is a bit stereotypical for young black girls...

Wait if that's the first one, then that must have had the rotating wheel design. As it was later changed to a slider... (not just saying because of the toy) It was the same on the replica, basic slider with only 2 colors and 2 different patterns. Would be nice if they re-add the red from what I call the "prototype". Then again like someone else has commented, this could be used as a way of distracting people at how lousy Moffat makes the episodes. "look flashing lights, ignore the shitey script"

I love the Eleventh Doctor's sonic! I always liked how it lit up green instead of blue, and the slightly crazy design suits Matt's Doctor perfectly.
Matt Smith is my favorite Doctor and I hate Capaldi's Doctor (Not his fault just the way the character is written for him is terrible) but I actually like the new design better... Whoever thought of making the Sonic match the TARDIS deserves a pay raise. The only thing I'd change is the handle cause all that stuff kinda makes it look a bit clunky and uncomfortable to hold. It doesn't really fit the sleek design of the top section.

@@RialVestro I'd say all the NewWho sonics feel TARDIS-y. Eccleston's was cracked because of the damage the Time War did to him and the TARDIS, and it had a light because of the glowing time rotor. Smith's was alien-looking and bizarre because his TARDIS was eccentric and otherworldly. Capaldi's looked like a kitchen. And Whittaker's was very crystal and... again, alien, but alien alien, not futuristic alien.
@@RialVestro As someone with 12's sonic, it's actually really comfy to hold. Your hand rests at the bottom section with the curved metal bit fitting in your palm, and your fingers wrapped around it, with your thumb right on the switch.

ThirdTech Guy I hate how other countries get more Dr Who comic cons and stuff than us. Dr Who is a British/Walsh show so the best place to be for Dr Who stuff should be Britain/Wales.
BBC America blocks non-americans from watching their Dr Who related videos. And we barely get 3 re-runs a week on Sundays, but in America they have 2 or 3 EVERY WEEKDAY morning!

Slytherin Forever Have you seen silence of the library and planet of the dead? The red setting does do things green and blue can't. Matts sonic had a red setting too. But was only used once. And there is also some differences between blue and green. The settings aren't there for nothing.
