We bought this a year ago, played it once, and for some reason, can’t get motivated to get it back to the table. Could be the bland look or that you should always fight for the main area in the middle. That’s the logical place to go even at the start of the game. Another problem is I have a hard time getting excited about 20 minute games as they don’t feel like proper games to me. If you think this is meh, you should try ‘the hunt.’ I’m tempted to burn that one in a video.
Usually I agree with you on games but on this review. You seem to skip a rule in the game: if you play the poison expansion you start with 3 tokens... You still can get to 1 or zero (another way to win the game) but you clearly missed that bigger variety at start...
But starting with 3 tokens vastly increases you selection right from the start and makes the game so much better. And in the 4 games I played, only 2 poison tokens were even in the game (after taking out 6 random, also playing with Centurion expansion). I found that using both mini expansion greatly increased both the variety of tokens and overall tactical chooses.
It would help to remedy the lack of choice issue, though its still possible to not have what you need when you need it. But the overall lack of excitement in the game would still remain.
@@TheBrokenMeeple It is good thing that the game runs for only 20 minutes so we can have another round to see how Fortune favors : ) You went hard on this one :D
I liked this game solo, components are not great but it's a fun puzzle that changes every game. The flowchart was hard to get used to initially but it gets smoother with experience. Overall I had a positive experience. Edit: Thanks for the honest review.
Rest assured, Luke - your time was not wasted on this video - I was very entertained, cracking up really, not like any of your other ones - like when you said something to the effect, "the game is fine, not bad", totally in contradiction to your body language. Seriously, I like some dry euros - e.g. Rumble Nation, The King is Dead etc. I just might have to give Caesar! a whirl.
This game has awful components and it does feel dry. Blitzkrieg! feels more thematic, less pasted. Having played the solo mode of the WW2 version, I did not need that flow chart. Keep up the good work!
Thanks once again for your honest opinion. Other reviews have been glowing, but I've had my doubts. You've saved my having to look at such a dull board for 20 mins at a time.
Glad to help! I've seen a lot of glowing reviews but many are from channels I don't sync with opinion wise. So I thought I'd try for myself and yeah it just lacks any excitement or replay value.
@@TheBrokenMeeple Keep up the great work mate. Just one personal question if I may: how best would you describe your accent? It sounds consistent until you say words like "lot" and then it sounds kind of hybridized. I'm purely curious, as I just can't place it. Absolutely no offence intended.
@@TheBrokenMeeple Haha - no way. Believe it or not, that was actually what I'd suspected, but didn't think I'd be correct as it just seemed too odd a combination. Anyhow, thank you: one less thing to think about. Again, keep up the great work: your opinion is highly valued mate.

Ha ha, that I'd watch!
I rarely agree with your reviews but I do like to watch them and it is nice to get some perspective.

That helps, but still, losing any token is a disadvantage.

The BGG flowchart is a big boost though. The solo puzzle I didn't find changed much, it all clusters in Italia, then spreads out around it.
I like it that you do the commercial film by yourself
What the Kienda promo? Whys that?
Saw it last year at Essen. I did not peek my interest when I saw it laid out. So, happy to leave this on the shelf of my FLGS.
Do you like Carcassonne? That only gives you one token to choose where to place.
I really like Samurai and this reminds me of that.

Nice hair. 😁

Ha ha, its west country Somerset. But I do seem to blend with American art times.

Poor game!
