    Thank you for this video!! I changed the cabin air filter in my 2018 A4. It was so easy thanks to this video! I cannot believe they were going to charge me $125 for this.

    Being double-joined (triple best) is a valuable trait when doing this "simple" cabin filter replacement;
    a plus: my spine recovered in just two days..

    I just changed my b9 A5 sportback, the right side clip was the hardest to pull out.. Snapping it back on was a lot easier. First time failed, second time after watching this video, took 5 mins total. 4 mins to remove bracket and 1 min to put everything back. This video helped out!, think the German engineers were oompa loompas

    Thank you so much. This was perfect! I had an odd smell in my car for a couple years, and didn’t know what it was, until I googled and they suggested that it could be the cabin air filter. Found your TH-cam page, and the instructions were perfect! Thanks so much.

    2017 A4 - Just saved me $132 for a mechanic to do this - wish I had known about this earlier. Thanks! And thanks for the warning about my back - :- ) Very awkward position. Why do they engineer stuff like this? - oh - so they can get $132 from me.

    Fwiw, my 2017 had no screws holding in the white plastic clip for the cabin filter and my 2018 had one. The clip appears to have holes for two. The filters were replaced twice each at dealerships before I replaced them myself - I suspect they may just not have replaced the screws. It was the same T25 Torx as used for the engine air filter housing.

    Yikes, i think the mechanic put mine in with the air flow arrow pointing the other direction. I turn on the AC and it seems muffled and the air pressure lessens. When i turn off the AC, the air pressure returns and blows hard. Yikes, I'm going to have to call him back to check

      @@ricardo7352 it’s pretty easy though, same with VW, they don’t want such components to be visible so it’s well hidden in my opinion. On the golf you unlatch the glove box and access it from behind. It can’t be done on these vehicles as the dashboard has far less space though. Besides, who even changed these filters? Most people don’t know it exists unyil they see it on the service ad one of the filters changed 😂.

    Will this filter remove a smell that is caused when you keep the fan on but turn off the AC?

    • @DIYDetail
      @DIYDetail  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It might! If you haven’t changed the filter (especially if it’s been a few years or more than 12,000 miles since the last one), I would try the filter change as a starting point. If it’s still there, the vents might need a deep clean

    • @DanielGuzman83
      @DanielGuzman83 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DIYDetail I bought the car used at 14k miles. I have the service history. I’ll look over it and swap it anyways. Dealer wants to charge 325 to fix the smell

    • @DIYDetail
      @DIYDetail  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are overcharging for sure. The filter alone only costs $20-$40. I would agree with you, try the filter change on your own first, if not then try to deep clean the vents

      @@DIYDetail I went to the auto part store and they gave me the wrong filter. I had to return it and order one from amazon. But when I removed that foam, I noticed a wire hanging to the left of the filter, right above the foam. I am wondering if I loosened or snagged the wire. Also, the filter looked clean except for a few leaves

    • @DanielGuzman83
      @DanielGuzman83 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, received the brand new one from Amazon. The one from amazon was a Volkswagen brand, was $15 less than the one from o’reily. Anyways, seems like the one installed was slightly smaller. This one fit in perfect. I decided to smell the old filter and yup, it was that nasty smell. After turning on the AC on the new filter, it smelled fresh. Let’s see when I drive it tomorrow
