You were right Sam, I had watched 3 other videos before your notification popped up. I don't want to say yours was better than the others, as each had a certain perspective, but I enjoyed yours the most. It's fun to see the lifestyle/experience side of these trips, and not just endless close ups of carbon intakes and infotainment screens! Also, fair play for being honest enough about the "fizz factor". It must be hard to be that direct when you've been treated to a presser like that, and for a brand you admire so much.

The silver ones look amazing! I never really loved the California, always felt like a car that tried to be a Ferrari. The Portofino has a very nice, sleek design which I think fits very well in the current Ferrari range. Great video Sam!

It absolutely is! I mean I understand why you might wonder if the California T was a true Ferrari. But this absolutely is! It’s fast, practical and absolutely beautiful!
Ha, everyone's got their own opinion I suppose. The Portofino is 100% a huge leap forward from the California & California T but I just wish Ferrari's entry level car was a baby 812 or a baby 488

It's funny Sam, but I agree with you. I feel that lack of something in the Portofino coming through the screen and yours isn't the first review of this car that I've watched and felt that. But just before this I watched your cruise around Cape Town in the Vantage and the sound of that Aston was more exciting.

I think that if Ferrari can make the Portofino the bread and butter car - ie solid, reliable and wonderful 'enough', sort of equivalent to Mercedes E class, then it is great for them and the brand. Great video and thank you for switching up the music a bit
I really don't understand why people say that the Cali T isn't a proper car. It has 560 hp, 0-60 mph in 3.6 sec, amazing gearbox and it is comfortable at the same time. If you want the fastest Ferrari and most raw Ferrari, you will obviously not go for the Cali T, since it isn't positioned like that in any way. It's supposed to be a relaxing cruiser which offers comfort but can be agressive and sporty at the same time. The Portofino looks very promising, can't wait to drive it.

I perfectly understand what you mean. Ferrari went so far with their engines, performance and amount of hp that we are now thinking.... "600? Is Not that much"... Because the real supercars has 800 or 1000. But just a few years ago the 458 had 570hp and the 430 had 490 and they were considered proper supercars. So just because there isn't the cts position on the manettino we suppose it is not a real Ferrari. By the way 90% of the people doesn't even know what 600 hp means and how fast you can be with that beautiful car. For me it is astonishing
This is the first Portofino I've seen! Lovely car, but it needs an optional sports package with stiffer suspension, better brakes, lighter/sportier wheels and carbon bits here and there to make it a true entry-level Ferrari experience. Awesome video mate, really enjoyed the collab with James!
Great vid. Love the understated character of the vehicle. With the amount of these Ferrari are expecting to sell and the entry level nature of it, it will be fascinated to see what the depreciation of these cars will be.
For something different, I saw a truly beautiful silver RHD '63/64 250 GT Lusso driving the streets of Melbourne today. Happily, it was stopped at a set of lights, allowing for a lingering look.

That pasta is called "orecchiette", which it translates literally in to "little ears". It's a typical home made pasta from Puglia. Great contents as always Sam!
A great video that’d be way better if Ferrari didn’t have to approve it before it was released as they do whenever they lend someone a car to review. Watched Shmee’s video and literally heard some of the exact same phrases and words, such as the “bass, tenor, soprano” exhaust, the “lifestyle car” comment, and the emphasis and usage of the word “cruise” and that the car is made for “cruising.” Not Sam’s fault, and I think in no way he’s a sellout or anything like that. Great personality and video quality as always though. I really like the Portofino, it’s just a shame that Ferrari won’t allow Sam to show us the entire car.
I think it's just you being spoiled in a sense lol. When you have driven the best in Ferrari's line up, I'm sure it's easy to feel like the car is missing something.
Brilliant review the car, great shots and interesting insights to the driving experience. I get what you say about it maybe being not the best first experience of a Ferrari but on the other hand, maybe it is meant to be more like a fine Borolo than a young Chianti.
