I spent 3 years as a young paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne back in the 1980's. Those WW2 airborne soldiers (82nd, 101st, 11th, 17th, and 13th Airborne Divisions) built the foundation for all of us who chose to jump out of perfectly good aircraft with only a parachute strapped to our backs. YES you are correct, but if i imagine the Romans would have carved all the graffitis off the Coluseum ( Old names of visitors are carved in the stone) that would be sad, it just tells another story of the place. I know it doesnt belong to the old state of the place, but isnt it history itself? What if some of the people who trained there and came back to leave their mark for example. I do understand tho that you guys cleaned that place.

My pap pap served in WWII. He never spoke about it. When we would ask him about his service, he should shut us down, sometimes very loudly, that it was none of our business. All we knew is that he served. A few years after his death, I learned from one of my uncles that he had served in the 11th Airborne in the Philippines. I never knew that the 11th had trained at this historic site until I watched this video. I want to thank you, from the bottom of my heart and soul, for bringing this to light for me. I have a renewed drive to find out more in regards to his service. I had discovered that most documents in regards to WWII, including enlistment and discharge papers, were tragically lost in a warehouse fire some time ago. All I have are memories and documents now as both nana and pap pap are gone. I again thank you for the wonderful historical videos that you produce.

RTK. Hi I'm England too. I'm thinking that maybe JD might give thought to "Go Pro- ing" the site. I imagine the "nasties" with their "rattle cans" get there in/on vehicles. From the entrance up to the rocks could be surveilled. Maybe a 24hr set up live stream. Without, of course, informing the miscreants that CCTV has been installed. There may even be some interesting wildlife night time spin off action. JAT.

I had the opportunity to go to England a few years ago & just couldn’t get over how much history is preserved there. Places hundreds & hundreds of years old. America’s history doesn’t go too far back, but it breaks my heart to see that historical places like this are already being destroyed by us. Thank you to those of you that took the time to help restore a place in America’s history. And especially, to all those that trained here & served, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your service & sacrifice.

You are a true champion JD for arranging this clean up and hoping the publicity your videos have achieved give awareness for further education on how, why and what these brave soldiers gave for our living standards today. Quite memorable that these volunteers provided their time to such an iconic site on this US Memorial Day weekend. Thank you to all.
Hopefully Marks comments of "Wreak Havoc on Ignorance" will prompt the local High School Principals to do the same. Educating local school students may encourage them to protect their neighbourhood historic site from further vandalism. Huge thumbs up from Brisbane, Australia..

i'VE BEEN WATCHING AND SHARING OUR VIDEOS FOR a long time and I can't remember your name, but I want to thank you deeply for all your work you do for our nation, honoring our military. As that one young man with the beard said inside the barracks from England restored back there in GA, what he said, my sentiment exactly: NO WORDS can express what this means to our nation what you all did. We deeply appreciate you doing this work in GA, in PA at Gettysburg, Arlington, ALL over. Hugging you online. From mom of only child, son, US Coast Guard veteran; daughter of WW2 Army dad; niece of WW2 & Korean War uncles, and going to say it = great granddaughter of Confederate Army great grandpa who was killed on his way back to his KY farm when he learned his young wife had died in 1864, leaving his 3-yr-old son, my grandpa, an orphan. He was a Scot who came over through Nova Scotia from Scotland and just wanted freedom to live, farm, and practice his faith; he got taken in to fight for the Confederates, he didn't want to fight, and his entire life was destroyed, leaving my grandpa to be raised by strangers. I just want to say thank you for what you do. I want to end quoting ROMANS 3:23 to all: 'For ALL have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God."

Knowing that there’s a generation that would graffiti such a historical place like this broke my heart and it made me angry. I’ve watched hundreds of documentaries/videos on TH-cam about the 101st and have even looked up videos specifically about Currahee and I’ve never ran across this channel. The first thing I thought when I saw the title to this video was “I want to be there helping.” You guys and gals did an exceptional job that I know in my heart made anyone who watched this very proud.
I can’t believe I’ve only learned of this channel today. I get one day off a week and instead of working on my car I replaced my flag outside and binge watched about 40-50 episodes of this channel since. I can’t get enough of it. This is beautifully thought out and edited so perfectly. I can’t stop watching it. You guys have a subscriber for life and I’ll be sharing this channel with anyone I can.

Made my day, seeing folks from across the country coming together for this restoration effort. My dad would have been very happy with your effort, as he was a member of the 11th Airborne, though gaining his jump wings late, in Japan, as part of the occupation forces. Just this past weekend, I drove past the house he grew up in - could see him standing there, in his uniform. Current owners are taking very good care of the home. I still have his dress uniform jacket and hat.

JD; a huge “Thank you” from my family. We once owned Currahee Mountain and my Great Grandmother cried as she signed the deed over to the Government. It was all forgiven when Camp Toccoa began and the importance of the training of these brave souls came to light.
The condition of the Mountain was irreverent to the people that called this place “Home” for many generations as well as our brave heroes during WWll. I cannot thank you enough for restoring Currahee to her former glory. She truly “Stands Alone” in the history books.

I went to Currahee Mountain in November 2020 as my first trip out of my house (besides work) since COVID. I was so excited, being a former paratrooper with several years on jump status, deployed veteran, and fan of BOB. I've always regretted not being born 40 years earlier so I could have trained and deployed with young airborne studs like Dick Winters, Lewis Nixon, and others in the 101st, 11th, and 17th ABN. I was so excited to get to the top of Currahee only to be horrified at the graffiti at the top. I know one thing. Not a single heathen who vandalized Currahee volunteered and signed on the dotted line to put themselves at risk for America, volunteered to go to airborne school, volunteered for an airborne unit, or deployed in defense of America and its allies. Thank you for your work and restoring my faith that there are still good people in America. AATW!
