My parents went to New York City in the summer of 2007 when they started construction of the Freedom tower. If I remember correctly from the photos my parents took of the progress of the construction, they were almost done with the underground foundation of the Freedom tower & there was a temporary museum dedicated to 9/11 where a window of one of planes (most likely the second plane) was on display next to a photo of the second plane before it hit the south tower.
@Depressed Ginger can you please do a video on the Tulsa Oklahoma 1/2 the height BOK Tower which was designed by the wtc designer and looks almost exactly the same as the original twin towers. Also please do a vid on the OKC tower they want to build that will be tallest in USA
In the South Tower I have heard the fires were starting to cool and something to do with the cooling of the metal in the building partly caused the South Tower to collapse.
You should do a video on famous people that were supposed to be in the twin towers or on those flights on 9/11 and the famous people that were in the buildings or planes on 9/11 that died
Hey ginger, I have a friend who’s uncle went through the subway to the World Trade Center when the second tower was hit, and he ran like HELL back into the subway. He is fortunately still with us.
You left out the PA memorial if you want to get technical. Another video idea, what if one or more planes got delayed enough to not go through with the attack, would the FBI have looked at other flights that day, did they do so in case there was a fifth plane, would the hijackers flee the country or do another kind of attack? Off topic to this video but I wonder if the pilots of the 2 planes that hit the WTC had a target each or was it a case of if you 2nd, just hit the other building, I guess it would depend on which direction they were coming from so they could line up since each tower was hit from the direction they stood at (north tower hit from the north, south tower hit from the south)
That tower is amazing at night. The outside surface starts glowing as the sun sets. It’s really eerie. The entire base goes through a range of colours until it’s bright turquoise.
I think the complex is actually starting to more closely resemble the old WTC in an odd way, they've been adding many sculptures, the XO one is reminiscent of the sphere, and of course they brought that back too. The new performing arts center in a strange way reminds me of the stage from the original WTC, it brings music back to the complex, even if only in closed doors. Would love to hear them integrate some calming Muzak into the complex, nothing too upbeat ofc out of respect.
Well, the North and South tower collapsed at different times specifically for this reason. The south tower was hit way lower meaning it had so much more weight on top of it, causing it to buckle. Had they hit even lower they would've both collapsed faster and certainly would've killed even more people
I’ve been trying to figure out where exactly is the spot that the Sphere used to be?? Like now I know it’s in the vicinity of the Memorial and One World Trade Center but what is in the exact spot where the Sphere was?
Oh okay. I should probably read comments lol not just skim them. So now the former spot of the sphere is just trees surrounding the north and south reflecting pools. I'd like to go at some point.. I have seen videos of the memorial and it's beautiful.
@@WoodlandGoblin2025The occulus is right where the plaza is and theres another building with graffiti on it next to the occulus. It's made out of marble. The marble on the dome is thinner and has light shinning through it at night. Its design is inspired by the Hagia Sophia and the church in Chora.
I often wonder how much different the entire WTC area would look today if 9/11 didn’t happen. NYC has evolved so much since 2001 in terms of its skyline and there are so many modern skyscrapers that stand among both iconic old ones such as the Empire State, Crystler etc, and some ugly ass 1970’s buildings which to be fair the twin towers were. I don’t mean that in a disrespectful way and I think the buildings were absolutely iconic but they did fall in to that sort of outdated but not particularly pretty era of skyscraper architecture. So I wonder how much the WTC area would have changed today in terms of building newer buildings around the twin towers had they not been destroyed. From what I know there was a lot of space around the twin towers since NYC was a little more sparsely populated back then and not every square foot of the island of Manhattan was a real estate opportunity. Contrast that to now where they are running out of ground space to build stuff and turning to selling air space rights. So I am sure the WTC today would be different to the one of 2001 even of the twin towers stood.
Bro, you have said that you thought the twin towers were obsolete looking and what not. But now you look at the new wtc complex and say they the new buildings lack uniqueness, but are modern looking like you prefer.... The original felt unique. And dominating. Bullying. No disrespect, but wtf do you think you would prefer? The twins were great. Better. At least looking.

Idea: What if only 1 tower wasn't hit, or was missed?
well there would probably be significantly less deaths.
Yo pienso que probablemente hubieran reconstruido otra tal cual pero el memorial de la otra torre hubiera permanecido intacta
@@-cosmicdoggo-Wait really?
Or what if the third plane picked a different target like the White House?
Then they wouldn’t miss it the second go round or wreck the plane. You think they’d just not try to hit it again, tho?

3:09 that stairway design was a hot mess, glad they didn’t go that route.
We will never forget 9/11
Idea: What if the towers didn't completely collapse but only half of the building came down.
would the fires have burnt out? would they have been able to save people above the impact if the towers didn't come down?
@@kite6864 Chances are many of them had already succumbed to smoke inhalation and/or heat or were on the verge of doing so

video idea: what if both planes accidentally hit the same tower?
It’s not called the Freedom Tower anymore officially at least. It’s just known as The World Trade Center or One World Trade Center.
They thought “Freedom Tower” would’ve dissuaded potential tenants, ie the name was too cheesy.
They might as well have called it the “America is #1” tower.
@@smorris281 They should have just called it the 1776 Tower

The occulus is also an LIRR station. It also connects to the mall at the other end of the street.
The oculus is not for the LIRR, it is for the Path of NY/NJ and subways. LIRR is in midtown, at Madison Square Garden

The entire WTC complex.
Weren’t the twin towers 2 gigantic building? That logic dosent really make sense lol
The Arthur episode "April 9th" never would have existed.
The correct title would actually be "The Buildings that exist ONLY because of 09/11"

What if the freedom tower is hit by a plane
It would still be standing because of the metal they used, the evacuation stairs are strong, but still deaths and jumpers..

You would think that after events like 9/11 we would stop building 100 floor death traps. 50 floors is plenty.
