Hi Jake, I'm a 67 year old guy who did a similar trip in a Jeep back in 1971. Two buddies and I took off from Salem Massachusetts and headed for Sacramento CA to visit another friend at Mather AFB. It was the trip of my life! It totally changed my perspective of the world, from small scaled New England to the vast spaces of the West. We had all kinds of excitement, (a run in with bears in Yosemite, an exploding propane lantern, nearly losing the Jeep on Pismo Beach at high tide (sound familiar?) and sleeping in 24 hour laundromats and roadside rest areas. This was long before video cams and cell phones. but I managed to take a gazillion photos which I still have and they fill me with wonderful memories and laughter. You already know that you will never regret this time. You will be so much the better person in your life because of the time you have wisely taken now to experience the joy of adventure. I have the wonderful memories of that time. I know you will too, even more so because you have shared it with the world. You have given us all the sense of wonder and adventure! I thank you so much and I wish you nothing but the best in your travels and your life. If you ever make it up to New England, I'd love to give you a tour of Boston! Went to the wilderness racks site, the Jeep on their site looks just like Jade, plate looks different than Jade's though. Along with the jerry can holder. Although I am a bit behind. Good work on the rack man.
Next time weld a nut to the stripped torx bolt. Fill the entire inside of the nut with weld, let it cool for a few minutes and it'll come right out. On another note, we're the bars bending while you were standing on them?
you should've add a 1 or 2 inch body lift when you had the body mount bolts out. sense they already needed replaced, you might as well have put in a couple inch body spacer. It probably wouldn't have been much more than new factory stuff. either way, loving it.

What a beauty. Suggestion....sand the bumpers and paint to match the rack. Oh btw tried the banana pancakes, threw in some pecans with some maple extract. I am not a pancake guy, but they were stellar. Keep up the awesome vlogs. Happy trails.

i have a bikini top from my 97 TJ You can have. It's a light brown color so it should go perfect with Jade. It's a soft bikini cover so you can leave it on 100% of the time and while your hardtop is on and it makes for storage between the hardtop and bikini top. you would absolutely love it!

I'm sending him a 14" double row, dual range (spot and flood) bar. it's 14" of led's but it's considered a 16" because of the mounts. It should fit perfectly inside the front bumper hoop.
In other words, I agree. any auxiliary lighting is a good thing. I figured he'll use mine a lot more than me. I was going to send him a bikini top too, but i dont think it'll work with the rack.
i hate those torx head bolts, had to replace my starter on my jeep that had one of those torx bolts it striped out had to cut it with a dremal tool,it sucked

Thumbs up for Using Kroil to lube up those rusty bolts. I usually plan ahead on projects by soaking rust fixtures with Kroil 24 hours in advance.
Jake you need a lightbar to fill in that gap below the roof rack. Looks and utility!
Richard is a true friend.
I highly recommend getting a set of taps I had to drill our 25% of the bolts on my lift and re thread everything.
next time you do this, soak those bolts with some PB blaster the night(s) before. Bolts break, but that helps for sure. Way of the road, bubs.
Looks good! I’m 19 weeks into waiting on my Gobi rack and if I’d realized.. probably would have gone this way and drilled the holes.
