To hell with black Friday deals... a video from Luca is all the black Friday awesomeness I need. Thanks for another awesome video mate! This is a super cool technique I just learned recently and you opened up some new ideas for me.
Best way to do this, I also have a video on it on my channel, is to use something like operator to trigger midi notes and mute the channel. It will still send audio for side chaining but you get complete control over the signal in the midi roll. Then you can use something ecludian rhythms to make very unique, long and complex gate patterns. And it is super flexible, you can ofcourse change the pattern anywhere in the song. You can also play the pattern live or record it for a more human feel.
Great technique. You should do an updated video using Loopcloud as the sidechain trigger. It makes finding interesting melodies and basslines really fast as you can just use your up/down keys to fly through loops.
Silly question maybe, but what sample packs are you using here? The thing you do with gating based on the beat reminds me of music from Klaus Veen. In some videos on his youtube channel I've noticed files like UG_perc_loop_16... and similar files with UG2_Drum_... and since I now see US_... for some of your files, I was wondering if these are certain sample packs? Besides this, thanks for making this video, very enjoyable and informative. I learn a great deal from your content!

US is 'Underground Sounds' I don't think its related to UG unfortunately, but they're great samples nevertheless. Worth checking out
shaperbox left the chat :D
You should turn your voice down. The dynamics between the unmixed sounds and your voice is a little much. But other than that. Nice vid
