My dog loved riding on the bow while we were on plane. I used to meet my brother in the area to pier fish while studying at UW. One time we went to Richmond Beach and I caught a pile perch that smelled like gas. It made the alley cat back home sick. Otherwise, the perch were a nice change to the hot dogs and burritos the fraternity provided.
Any day fishing is better than working. Looks like you did a little painting on your boat. Looks good. Still want to catch you out there one of these days. Keep posting videos, I have my fishing buddies watching you now too.
The one thing that I need to point out to your viewers, no matter what the comment or question is, you will get an answer with in a day or two. That is very respectable and I very much appreciate the time you take and that is why I follow all of your videos. Keep doing what your doing and be safe my fishing friend.
Well that was a beautiful day out fishing you got two that's good enough for a meal that's why they call it fishing and not catching another great video
@@kingslew1866. We were in Garibaldi this last Friday-Sunday. Bar was mostly restricted so we stayed inside. Crabbing was hit or miss but fine. Low tides being negative, the clamming was good. Saw two springers caught, neither one by us. We had calm, sunny, cloudy, wet, dry, windy, cold and warm conditions. Still, it's hard not to have fun on the Oregon Coast!
I. Going to sparrow park by florence today. gonna go get some perch off the beach. Never have caught any or even tried any good tips for beach fishing them.
Good luck on that John! I'm not an expert on Surf Perch. I've caught my share, but it's been a while. I've used sand crabs and mussels for bait and fished the incoming tide...
When you installed the center console in your boat, how did you anchor down so it was solid. When you ran all of your wiring, did you sleeve everything and waterproof it as well. That’s part of my question, the rest I will try to find on google.
As to the console, to anchor the base I used Aluminum -Angle (channel). As for the wiring, if you intend to run in the ocean or coastal bays, you must use Tinned Wire (very important). I soldered all connections, sealed them with heat shrink tubing, liquid tape and then ran it all in conduit (PVC)...
A friend and I are going to make a run up the bay to target Pile Perch on Saturday morning, probably from about 9am-1pm. You going to be fishing on Saturday?
I'm pretty sure not Cody. I was up there yesterday early AM and got only one perch out of 30 baits. Damn harbor seals like to fish there too... Let me know how it goes. Good luck and tight lines...
King Slew I appreciate the report! One or two perch would be “mission accomplished” for my friend and I. Each year I challenge myself to catch a few new species of fish, and in 2019 Pile Perch are one of my targets. Too bad about the seals.
@@kingslew1866 we had a successful fishing trip. While we only caught one Pile Perch, we also caught Walleye Surfperch, Striped Surfperch, White Surfperch, and Shiner Perch. Nice little variety. When the wind picked up we went back up by the north waterfront and got more Striped Surfperch, 3 species of Rockfish, and some Kelp Greenling. Not a bad day!
How can I get a hold of you off of TH-cam? I have tried to locate an email address for you, without any luck. I have a few questions regarding your boat set up and your electronics.
@@tylerreitzer766 Thanks Tyler! Perch are always around. They are prevalent in the estuary during the spawning period during early Summer months. Great fun to catch and good eating too...
Spring & Summer they come in to spawn. Yes you can catch from the bank. No season on them, year round. Limit is 15 per day. Great eating & fun to catch...
Thanks Jerry, after 30 years I finally moved back to Waldport two weeks ago and just got my license, Surprised it is a A4 paper wondering how to carry around for entire year with frequent rain. I remember I got some kind of water proof tag or card 30 years ago.

Wow, I didn't think pile perch got that big. Nice dog. She looks a lot like an Icelandic sheepdog we used to have.
She's a registered Standard Bred Siberian Husky...

Thanks! Yeah, she's a trip...
Hey King, two fish is better than no fish great video.
Yeah, we baked them whole stuffed with fresh garlic and lemon slices. Made a couple of nice dinners...
nice video
Glad to see you post. It had been awhile, did not know if we should be concerned, or not! Take care, be safe and keep your lines tight!!!
Thanks Jon! It's just been the weather keeping us in... Looking forward to Summer...

Hey it's enough for dinner. They should be coming in by now , but who can say? Wish this weather would clear up a bit and wind stay down.
Yeah, they're here Allan, I think I would have caught a bunch if it wasn't for the seals..
Thanks for another great video! Your dog is a hoot! Are they in that area only in May or year round?
I generally fish for them in the Spring and Summer, but they're always around...
Man those are jumbo perch. Definitely want to get after those. Why mud shrimp and not sandshrimp?
Mud shrimp are their natural prey, but sand shrimp will work OK, mud shrimp are easier to get for me...
Did you change up some things? New carpet? New camera? Lookin' good.
Yeah... did a little cosmetic tune up. Everybody says it looks good and I like it. Same old cameras. Did upgrade my editor though...

Do you fish the incoming or outgoing? or does it matter?
Incoming is the standard, but I like to fish the slack period...
Nice... what size hook, maybe 2 or 3/0?
Thanks! 2/0...
What do you look for when perch fishing? Depth? Weeds? I'd love to get into this... pretty good size to them.
Structure! They are called Pile Perch for the obvious reason, they hang around pilings, rocks, etc...
Is there a web site that tells what the weather and ocean conditions will be?
Yeah there is...

Is that setup a 3 way swivel with a 1/4oz lead? What type of hook?
2/0 baitholder hook, dropper loop & 3 oz. bank sinker...

Coquille Point or out in front of the Marine Science Center...
