    I sent you a comment asking about how to winterize strawberries a few weeks back. I channeled you and Ron Finlay and made two CD racks into strawberry gutters. They're same shape but a little deeper. And put in a drip system. It so warm right now, I have strawberries already. Red ones. Crazy. But I started to pull flowers off and then felt bad and stopped. So good to hear you do the same. Thanks again.

    We plant strawberries in the Fall here in Central Florida. They are treated like an annual here because the summers are hot and they would get diseases and die. Plus the berries would get smaller every year. Kinda opposite from up north. Great video. Thanks

    Such good info! Thank you! I had everbearing strawberries in a hanging pot last summer. They didnt do well until I took the hanging pot down and watered it the way I watered everything else. Suddenly BOOM! Strawberries!! So in fall, I planted them and their runners (which Id rooted back in the pot while connected to the Mom plant) They were persistent and kept popping through the mulch!! I hope they come back in spring!! 🍓 Happy Sunday!! 🍓😊🌟

    It is the 8th of Apr, I just bought a Strawberry plant that is pretty well established and I have two questions; 1). It has one red flower on it (I posted the same question with pictures on your Fb page if you'd like to go look at it for reference) & I'm wondering if I need or should pull the flower off (Google says to pull all flowers off until June, and I want to make sure that is correct, because Google is not always correct in every situation).
    Plus, last night I seen a "black bug" quickly crawl away from the flower (it had a lot of gooey looking stuff coming out of the flower, and when I tried to locate the bug - I had no luck so, I brought the plant outside, because I didn't want to chance it (or any other bugs) getting to my other baby plants I have growing inside.
    2). So, can I spray the Strawberry plant with Neem oil, because of the store I bought it from (big box store that starts with a big "W") I've purchased flower plants from them last year that came with aphids (that was my first time learning about those bugs, the hard way!) so, now I just want to know if I can safely spray any & all plants with Neem oil?
    I'm sorry for sounding dumb, I'm just new.
    Thank you for your time! 🌿❤️

    I live in cold climate. I have grown June bearing strawberries in the past. I was told that every three years, the older plants should be taken out and new plants, from runners, planted. Somehow I lost track of rotation and my patch became a mess. Most of my plants died. I’m thinking next summer I’d like to start over with ever bearing strawberries. Does the same principle apply that about every 3 years, the older plants need to be replaced by younger plants? I’m thinking of using one of my raised beds. I have a chipmunk problem. The rat traps worked well for the tomatoes last summer so I’m thinking of lining the raised bed with rat traps. I really enjoyed the video thank you.

    My everbearing strawberries are in the ground and mulitply by rhizomes or shoots they send out. After 3 or more years my beds get so thick the berries are tiny. How do i identify old plants in the spring to thin out? Or should i just move the whole strawberry patch to a new location every 3 or so years? Thank you for all the help you give!

    • @TheRipeTomatoFarms
      @TheRipeTomatoFarms 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The mother plants grow by crowns. So even with diligent runner removal every year, a strawberry patch will begin to over grow and compete with itself. The whole thing needs to be dug up and replanted. You can plant them in the same spot, but you'll have to remove all the crowns and plant them singly. Its easy because they are really shallow rooted. Then, those new single crowns become the new mother plants that season. Space them upwards of 12-18 inches apart. They grow fast.
