Got mine at a thrift store, paid $5, no box or no manual. Plug into an outlet to see if light came on. I use mine three times a week. First time just like you did, made mine with cheese & turkey sausage, it was tasty, but i discovered didn't care for how hard it made my English muffin. Now i use it to just cook my eggs in. Bottom level, cracked egg with some shredded cheddar, top level, cracked egg also with some cheddar shred. After 4 minutes unplug and drop top level on bottom level. Place muffin bottom on plate, spatula remove double stacked eggs and place on muffin then top muffin is placed. cheddar bonds eggs together. Very delicious, make every other day. Happy with process.
Interesting gadgets, too much fiddling with it, and washing up after. I prefer my nonstick skillet, plop it in, turn it over, done.😊 thank you Matt. Fun video. Love the puppies ❤
I love gadgets as well, and I love that you review stuff like this. I just saw one in a thrift shop the other day. I love egg McMuffins and now that they cost $8 where I live, I might try this!
I have had the double version for years. I hardly use it. I like my muffins toasted and this doesn't do that so I have to toast the muffin first. You have to use pre cooked meat. And the bottom plate you have to wash without immersion in water. And would it have raised the price so much they couldn't put an on/off switch on it? I still use it because I spent the money for it but the only advantage is it makes the sandwich compact.
I think it's fennel. I used to have a recipe that broiled it with prosciutto and cheese. I really like it. I dice it up in tuna salad sometimes. I have seen that sandwich maker at Goodwill but never paid much attention. I'll have to take a better look.
I just bouyght mine from a thrift store as well for 12 bucks, new and everything. cant wait to use, mostly bought if for my daughter so she can make her food conveniently
After watching this, I resolved to look for one. It took some time, but I found one. After watching your video, and carefully reading the comments, our first batch turned out perfect! I'm about to make a batch for the freezer to grab on my way out to work.
The last time I bought an egg McMuffin was way back when they were 2 for a dollar. Nowadays, I use an antique Acme "cowboy skillet" just large enough for an egg, and just the right size for a sandwich.
I found the 1 trick is to not put the top part of the muffin on right away let it cook for about 3 or 4 minutes then add the top part of the muffin for the last minute or 2
I found a new in box HB double breakfast sandwich maker at my local Goodwill for $14. I've had it for over a month and hadn't used it yet but watching your video has inspired me to give it a try. Ironically I saw a 2nd one today (used) at the same Goodwill priced at just $4.79. I find if I wait long enough I always seem to find what I'm looking for...always a fabulous treasure to be found!!
I got the single one first but loved it so much that I got the double one soon after. They work great. 👍 I also ended up getting the Hamilton Beach burrito maker , BUT that one there was Crap...
I've been making the same breakfast sandwich with an egg ring, a small frypan a couple times a month for over 10 years. I stopped buying the egg McMuffin from McDonalds that long ago.
Thanks for the video! I just bought one on an impulse and now know the do's and don't. DON'T use American cheese cause it'll turn into liquid. DO break the yolk and cook the egg a minute or two before adding the top English muffin
I've seen this machine many times in my thrift store visits. I think it was a good idea but the clean up looks pretty bad. I don't have a dishwasher and obviously it looks like it can't put under water to soak. Thanks for your presentation though.
Thanks for watching! The pull-apart design for washing is pretty nifty. I am eager to see how the nonstick finish holds up over time. For what I paid for it, it’s already paid for itself a few times over in a couple of weeks 😋
Yeah.....I don't think a muffin should be placed on top of a raw egg and then cooked. I just got one of these, and will see if I can cook the egg first. Kind of sucks that you'll have to cook the meats first, or pay the price for pre-cooked meat (I'd rather bacon, sausage OVER ham any day). Thanks for the video.
Yes, definitely use cooked meat. This just doesn’t get hot enough or cook long enough to cook the meat. I cook mine separately in batches and refrigerate it, then use only what I need when making a breakfast sandwich in this. As for the muffin on top, that’s what the instructions specify, and ultimately it works. Hope you get tasty results!
The trivia item is fennel. The breakfast maker would be impractical for me as I do not live alone. I also do not eat McDonald's so duplicating that sandwich has no appeal. However, bacon, egg, and toast in a cast iron pan would do nicely.
Oh my goodness, Chef Matt. That thing is a waste of space. Send it back to the thrift store! Even my husband, who does not cook much at all, can make a breakfast sandwich using a frying pan and a toaster in the time it takes to preheat that thing. And all those exposed hot surfaces look dangerous! Looks like you're enjoying it, though! Fennel!
Okay my sweethearts, Mummie is here & sends love to all of you! Regarding the Chef Matt "mock" McDonald's Breakfast Sandwich"-- A great fast idea for one person! It can be cooking while fixing coffee, etc. However, since I am a total dinosaur, I do the eggs on a griddle (popping the yoke while cooking) and assemble the sandwiches. But why go through all that for only 1 breakfast? Do up a batch and wrap them in foil to either be eaten the next day or frozen! Yum Yum!
Only the egg needs cooking. If I was in a hurry, I'd just spread some butter on bread, and put a slice of sausage or any cold cut on it and be done. Then I don't have any butter on the outside and can keep my hands clean. It would still be better than a sandwich in a plastic bag where the liquid got time to penetrate into the the bread. If I had time to crack eggs, I'd scramble them on a pan more efficiently by cooking 4 to 6 eggs at once. It seems that Americans always refry their already baked bread into a toast or whatever. In the language I usually hear "spread it on a toast" and not "on slice of bread". It can be nice, but is not essential.

Excellent and thanks for the tips!
This was an awesome video! After seeing one on Amazon I searched TH-cam and this came up. You’ve sold me! This channel is one of my favorites now 👍🏼
Thank you so much! I’m thrilled to hear you found the video useful. Thanks for watching and happy cooking 🙌
Interesting gadgets, too much fiddling with it, and washing up after. I prefer my nonstick skillet, plop it in, turn it over, done.😊 thank you Matt. Fun video. Love the puppies ❤
Thanks for watching, as always. 👍
Thank you very much for your videos. Delightful and cheerful. I enjoy seeing a real person trying out gadgets.
It's fennel
Thanks so much for your kind words and for watching 🙌
My daughter bought a used device just like this, once I demonstrate this to my grandchildren they will use it non stop , 4 growing boys always hungry
Fantastic! This device should help 😋
I love gadgets as well, and I love that you review stuff like this. I just saw one in a thrift shop the other day. I love egg McMuffins and now that they cost $8 where I live, I might try this!
Whoa! That price! One of these could pay for itself quickly. 👍

Great! There’s a bit of a learning curve, but all in all I’ve found it convenient and useful. I hope it serves you and your daughter just as well. 👍

Fantastic! So happy to hear. Enjoy 😊
Great to send with kid going off to college. Easy to make breakfast or a quick snack
The last time I bought an egg McMuffin was way back when they were 2 for a dollar. Nowadays, I use an antique Acme "cowboy skillet" just large enough for an egg, and just the right size for a sandwich.
Nice! Those little skillets are cool. I have a Lodge cast iron one (ok, maybe two...)
The mystery vegetable is fennel. I used to slice it very thinly and put it in salads.
I found the 1 trick is to not put the top part of the muffin on right away let it cook for about 3 or 4 minutes then add the top part of the muffin for the last minute or 2
Fennel I love it cooked or raw in salads. Must see if I can get one of those sandwich makers in the uk

Good to hear. Now I need to thrift the burrito one, lol 😂

Nice! The egg ring tool is cool. 🙌
I do the same. I tried this gadget and didn’t like it.
Thanks for the video! I just bought one on an impulse and now know the do's and don't. DON'T use American cheese cause it'll turn into liquid. DO break the yolk and cook the egg a minute or two before adding the top English muffin
Good tips! I continue to also learn its idiosyncrasies and appreciate its functionality. 👍
Someone suggested putting on the sliced cheese after it's cooked. With the heat from the sandwich, the cheese melted on just fine afterwards.
What's the dog's name?
Bronco and Libby! And they like breakfast sandwiches, lol 😋
Trivia is fennel
I think you should let the egg cook before putting the top bread

You don't know what you are missing out on. Best thing at McDonald's
Trivia: That's Fennel.
Cook the egg for 2 minutes before adding the top of the muffin. It won't sink into the egg that way.
Good to know! I’ll try that next time 👍

Heh. I’m a sucker for gadgets. I used this thing again today while I made the dogs’ breakfast. Homemade of course 😀
12:18, "doesn't that look tasty?" It looked burnt to me!
Where's mom. What's she thinking about this? Ask mom. We want mom.

these unboxing dudes are always so creepy
