Fascinating to watch the leather being cut to fit so well round corners and curves. An impressive finish!
Looking good. The finish looks clean already. Can’t wait for the next part. I service and repair these things for a living. If only the dealers made them as good. 👌👌
Many thanks for watching 👍
well done dan another quality build, ive been to their workshop well worth a visit
Thanks Stephen 👍
Yet another great job.
Thank you Andy and many thanks for watching
I thought it was the LWB all the time, it must be the wide angle camera lens. Nice one, thanks.
Nice one Dan
Thank you and many thanks for watching
Dan, where do you get the black plastic covers that go at the bottom of the B pillars with the added section to square it off ?
Thanks
We got them from Citroen direct, hope this helps
Many thanks for watching
For the leatherette on the metal parts, around the doors etc, is this foam backed or is it easier without foam backing? Also when you do use foam backed, what thickness foam do you use?
Hi where do you get that leather from looks really good thanks gary
Not bought it in a while but it was from a company called Frank pine.
Many thanks for watching
Hi. I’m planning to line my van with a similar leatherette vinyl. I’ve found a source locally but would like to know if the vinyl you use has stretch properties and if so, where do you get it from. Thanks
The leatherette doesn't stretch like the carpet does, it will do a little bit but only to wrap around an edge for example, if you have a big shape or angle to contour to then it wouldn't stretch that much.
Many thanks for watching
Any hints on where to buy the leatherette? How wide is the leatherette you buy? I can only find 1.4m rolls
Try table guard think they are in Manchester 👍 many thanks for watching
As always Dan..👍👍
Thanks Mark👍
brilliant
Many thanks for watching
Looks so clean with that leatheret. No foam under it though. Why is that not like the ceiling?
The leatherette with foam won't wrap around edges very well so it is perfect for a flat surface like the roof but when it comes to the side which bend slightly and also need wrapping around the edges of the panels it just doesn't want to do it so that's why we use normal leatherette for the sides.

Hi dan the plastic corner blocks u use ,where can i buy in bulk for a conversion?
They are from a wholesalers that only deal with the trade but to be honest you can get them just as cheap on ebay.
Many thanks for watching
@@dantheman321 ok thanks dan
What size screw u need for 15mm boards?
@@mooneypaul depends on the boarding you are using, either 5/8s / 15mm or 3/4s / 19mm
Many thanks for watching
@@dantheman321 15mm board im using 15mm to 15mm cheers
Always a pleasure to see if someone does a good job. But what about a vapor barrier as an end to the insulation. Are you not doing any in there?
We don't use vapour barriers, we never have done and never had a problem and we have been making campervans and motorhomes for nearly 27 years. The vapour barrier idea came from the building trade and it didn't work properly then either. The key is ventilation in a Campervan it needs to breath. Many thanks for watching
@@dantheman321 Many thanks for the answer. :)
@@dantheman321
I'm afraid it's not as simple as it is said. The issue of vapor barrier is also related to outdoor temperature. For example, if the outdoor temperature drops below -5C and above and at the same time
the internal temperature will be + 20C, the dew point is likely to shift more towards the center of the vehicle. Then it is likely that all the moisture will end up inside the thermal insulation. On the other hand, it must be said that in England such temperatures are rare. However, if you are considering traveling around Europe in the winter months, this can be a problem.
@@mikesmikin219
Hi Mike, firstly many thanks for watching the video, I understand what you are saying about the temperature changes and again like you say probably not a concern in this country but say this was to happen and the insulation collects all the condensation how would it breath with a vapour barrier in place? The barrier wouldn't let the insulation dry if this happened and then that would affect the metal work after a short time. We have been converting campervans and motorhomes for about 27 years and never had a problem concerning this issue surely this has some proof for this point. Hope you like the videos and thank you for your opinions and comments.
@@dantheman321
First of all, I would like to say that I like your work and it is possible to get a lot of inspiration here. Thank you for that.
However, I would like to return to the topic of vapour barriers.
The vapour barrier is here precisely to prevent condensation of water in the insulation at all. Any moisture that is generated in the vehicle interior, eg by cooking, showering or just breathing, must go somewhere. If we do not ventilate, then the moisture will go inside the insulation.
Of course, the question is what happens if some moisture enters the insulation and we have a vapour barrier. This should only happen when the water flows through the vehicle. But that's another problem.
Then we can consider what kind of insulation to use ... absorbent, non-absorbent, etc.
On the other hand, it is also necessary to say that any breach of the vapour barrier carries the risk of ... screws etc.
In conclusion, I would probably say that in England I would have missed a vapour barrier, but when using a motor home in frost, I would definitely give it here.
Hi Dan, where do you get the seat belt pillar extended cover from please, been looking for ages but never found? Thanks
I bought them direct from the manufacturer but they weren't cheap if memory serves they were about £240 for the set.
Ok great, thanks for the reply
With what are you glueing the leather ? What’s the material you used up driver cabinet in that roof ? Plastic ?i saw it’s white
The glue we use is an industrial strength contact adhesive. What is the time on video where you have seen this material?
Many thanks for watching
dantheman 321 1:02 you touch it with your hand. Thanks. Cans you leave me a contact way email / Facebook/ Instagram or I give you mine
Hi dan what size ply for walls, roof please i used 12mm on floor cheers
HI Paul, 6mm for walls and I use 12mm for the roof as well so you will have something decent to fix to for the lockers.
Many thanks for watching
@@dantheman321 ok dan cheers
I'm no expert but I never noticed any sound deadening or vapour barrier when you screwed the panels around the window..... won't this cause damp problems further down the line?
Due to the way we make our vans we don't use vapour barriers and sound deadening is an option the customer can choose. We have been making campervans and motorhomes for over 27 years and never had a problem with not using vapour barriers.
Many thanks for watching
@@dantheman321 Yes I'm humming and hahing about this myself, I just worry about interstitial condensation forming on the inside skin of the van and rotten out the window frames and chassis? but after 27 years in the industry, you would have definitely heard something so there goes my theory. great looking conversion though dan, I enjoyed the video immensely.
10/10 👍
Thanks John speak soon

How much does it cost roughly to get to this level of a build?

@@dantheman321 I am currently driving a '94 Trafic as a means to see if I can cope with a camper as my main vehicle and so far its been great. My plan going forwards is to purchase a relay/ducato something like that probably long wheel base and like the work you do it's just hard to aspire to something without knowing a rough cost :)
Saved me from bake off 🤦♂️
Happy to help Derek👍
