i was hypnotized watching this, i love to see you make things, you are a stickler for details, like me..i think its an awesome project an i love the rusticness of it. when you first put the log on the two smaller logs before you started cutting it, it reminded me of the seating my son made around his fire pit where he used to live. He just moved to a bigger place with a big back yard an they can have a chimera so i was thinking of the log benches to go around it. thanks for the video, loved it.
Thanks Howard. I thought about using the draw knife you sent to take off the bark, but we have bugs that get into the fallen trees, and eat the inner bark. In another week the bark will fall off on its own
Looks like you might have used a chainsaw once or twice in your life. Lol. Man that is some serious chainsaw skill. Had to give this one a thumbs up my friend. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
John Capps I'm sorry I never got back to you about the fatwood it's just Money's been so tight and then I had to get my kids school supplies I just didn't have the money I apologize I should at least let you know
The Good of the Land I've been in a rut. I had to move all my crap when we cut the trees. Today I finally relocated to the back yard. Hopefully I'll be back in the groove. A forged blade would be awesome.
My grandfather made a chainsaw jig. He used it to cut many of the beams in his barn. I'd like to get one, but I think I'd need a bigger saw to go with it.
GREAT Job, it is not easy getting good straight cuts and a tight fit like that with just a chainsaw...Good Craftsmanship, Well done!!!
Thank you Lee.
Texas Chainsaw Artist. Thank you for showing us this, John
I don't know about being an artist, but thanks.

Thanks, I thought maybe it might have been a rip chain. You did a great job ripping with it.
That turned out really good! I may have to consider something like that for my cabin.

dj rayner no worries.
Yup that's cool

Good Video, I was wondering if you had a special chain on, when you were ripping the logs ?
It was chain that came with the saw.
victor castle to add on his comment, a safety chain won't work. Most saws come with safety chains, a chisel chain is best for this.
What kind of chain is on your saw?
Factory chain. Oregon , H78 I believe.
haha! I wasnt interested especially after I saw he didnt know to file in one direction but then i got to 6:10 and was like OHHHH! Now I like!
