Juan Martin Del Potro ▪ 75 huge forehand winners [HD]

  • The forehand is the one of the core strenghts of Juan Martin Del Potro's game. He uses the eastern grip (not typical for the modern tennis era). This specific grip usually troubles the players when they have to deal with the high, looping topspin strokes but Delpo's height (almost 2 metres) allows him to handle the topspin well. Del Potro's forehand is also characterized by a high draw back of the racquet, the racquet to ball impact point is high. He can hit it flat, deep and damn fast. Juan Martin Del Potro's biggest career highlight was winning the 2009 US Open, beating Juan Monaco, Juergen Melzer, Daniel Koellerer, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Marin Cilic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. Del Potro was the first player to defeat both Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer during the same grand slam. He is also the second argentine and the fifth-youngest man to win the US Open in the Open Era. Juan also won the bronze medal in men's singles at the London Olympics in 2012 (fell to Federer in an epic semifinal but defeated Djokovic in straights for the bronze, the gold medal went to Andy Murray). Delpo reached a career-high ranking of No. 4 in Januray 2010 but was able to play only 4 tournaments in the entire 2010 due to wrist injury. A very similar happenings in 2014 and 2015 as he kept having problems with both left and right wrists. A comeback is attempted in 2016 - the long-awaited return happened at the ATP250 2016 Delray Beach where Del Potro reached the semifinals where he lost to Sam Querrey.

delpo's story is just so heartbreaking. he had so much talent at such a young age, but injuries hampered him for multiple years. if not for his injuries, he definitely would have won multiple grand slams and been up at the top with nadal, federer, murray, djokovic, etc

I get emotional every time I watch him play, it's so unfair that a such talent guy should have left behind courts because of his injuries. The Best forehand ever. So proud of you del po. Vamos Argentina carajo !

While these forehands are obviously the best of all time, whats even better about him is that he has done it on every surface and against the very best opponents. Just look at the highlights here- the opponents are Djokovic, Federer and Nadal (arguably the 3 greatest players of all time) and this man has just destroyed them with his play time and time again. He is one of the most respectful and nicest guys off court but on the court he fears and respects nobody. Thats why he is more than just a one-slam wonder, more than just a one off- he must be considered alongside great players such as Murray, and is definitely a tier above the likes of Stan Wawrinka, Safin, Hewitt (despite those players having won more slams). He is a mental beast and has NEVER choked against opponents but instead steps up against the very best every single time. But for his stamina and his injury riddled career, I firmly believe back in 2010 he was well on the path to being the best in the world. And who knows, maybe if he was around, Novak doesnt go on to dominate like he has now. Maybe DelPo wins 5,6,7 or more slams. Maybe he becomes one of the all time greats. A true legend of the game and a great ambassador, even after everything thats happened to him he is still so enthusiastic and the nicest guy on tour. I love you Juan.

Jiggy77XD Just a little bit of exaggeration here😂😂
chill your eggs dude del potro is a beast but far far away from the best of all time,
and he has often broken down in pressure situations sorry to tell you that..
and I also like him very much but you are clearly exaggerating

I hated that. DelPo seemed to be finally back after his first wrist injury in 2010, and then it's his left wrist that gets injured.
Tennis has missed him. How many Masters titles and GS could he have by now without his injuries? Just look at how he played last week against #1 Djokovic. This guy has the game to beat anyone.
