Still listening...only this time self quarantine due to a pandemic! Love this song Wow, I’ve been here over a year...here’s what I wrote about this song... Spilling my heart...the power of music... I bought this LP on a visit to San Diego back in I think 1975 in a place called tower records while visiting a very long distance new girlfriend. I was 20, canadian she 20 American and in SD. We heard this song over the store speakers and slow danced to it...it’s what you did back then, all good. I instantly bought the album unheard just for this song...it was the right song for that loving moment (sorry, hard to explain) I was young and this long distance relationship and listening to this song made me look at ways to make the distance shorter...it encouraged me to gain a commercial pilots licence and a thriving and exciting career. It was a great time it was a great era (pre internet) for me. This song soooooo...transports me there...and yes, I’m still in the sky. (I’m 65 now and remain still great friends with that awesome lady (and her family) and she knows that she will always be in my heart...and yes...you really can have life long friends) Ps/ to this day....I still have and cherish the memo that album gives me.
Awesome real life story Tom, just a few years younger than you, live a hour or so north of SD, used to go to several different Tower Records, back in the day, I also bought this album in 75 (went i came out) but I already knew about Neu because of "Hallo Gallo"...cheers
This song takes me to places I can't describe. The minimalistic quality of this piece is what I like the most. A lone guitar playing in the rain, my German heritage bonds to the essence of memories past that aren't mine but I feel an appreciation for the fact that I can feel them. And it makes me feel neu
I remember watching over the Baltic sea and listening to this song as my relationship with a German woman came to an end. I recall the feeling of relief as I watched the ringvsink into the sand. I caught the next ferry home
Happy Birthday to genius guitarist Michael Rother (September 2). I'll always remember the first times I heard this mesmerizing song--many years ago walking through the falling rain and snow.
Hat Conny datt noch gemischt? Absolut gelungen. Fand ich getz noch das beste NEU! Album.1 und 2 waren eher experimentell. Ich meine "Hallogallo" ist der Klassiker schlechthin. Will zurück in die 70ger...
This song scares the shit out of me AND takes me a beautiful place at the same time. Literally makes my stomach turn. That is a powerful song!!! Amazing!!
If I had to make a "top-10 albums of all time" list it would be really hard to not just include the first 3 Neu! records, the 3 Harmonia albums, and the first 4 Rother solo LP's (i.e. the ones he made with Jaki).
Ege Bamyasi is one of my favorite albums of all time. Probably #1 on the right day. I guess this is why I don't make "top-whatever of all time" lists. :D
It's great. Lately, for some reason, I've been really getting into Soon Over Babaluma for the first time. I never really listened much to the post-Damo stuff, but the drumming on Babaluma has to be some of Jaki's best stuff.
@@jasonmoyer are you familiar with Drums Off Chaos? Good to check out if you're curious about what Liebezeit was up to in his last years. I have a couple of their records (the ones with black covers and strange geometric shapes on them).
Had one OMD album but was never a fan. I will have to check out that track. I first heard NEU! years ago on college radio. In those days I was really into Stereolab & I couldn't believe my ears. I thought Stereolab had a very unique sound but man they lifted stuff straight out of an early 70's German band I had no idea about. I love NEU!

neu opened up kraut rock to me. this always takes me back to the seventies, when great music filled the airwaves, now it is just screaming women and dross.

It's beautiful 👍
I'm 74 now and I still listen to NEU.
This music is so brilliant. I still have the original records.

What a great story.
Im ending a long distance thing like yours, so i guess thats the point of this song
such beauty
Absolutely hit the nail on the head, it takes you wherever you want to be. Pure magic and like you said beautiful. 👍
Michael Rother! Pure genius have listened to this song many, many times! Jayne
one time was a member of the famous german electronic band "kraftwerk" after the ending of their first 3d catalogue collected album "AUTOBAHN".
This song is pure perfection and takes me to new worlds
Fabulous! NEU Forever. Michael Rotther & Klaus Dinger ... double fantastic!
I cannot get enough of this song! Pure brilliance to the ears.
It still moves me
Me again and I still love this...a classic
Same here, tom.
@@tom080955 do you still love it? I sure do!
It's ridiculous how good this is. A song and album for the ages.
Like soothing balm for the soul
Incredible depth and clarity to this track.

That sounds like it could be the video to the song.
I remember when you listened to this song and dreamt up that scene.
@@thetrickisirarelyrespond5945that's the thing, it doesn't have to be true. Great scene, awesome scene
Great music
I was watching Portlandia and she mentioned Neu! I had to Google them. Very cool band... thanks Carrie!
That's tripped out, the translation to English was in perfect Grammer. Rare that two languages overlap like that.
Pure. Simply sweet.
Fantastic.
Still my go-to song
It flashes me back to great memories
Songs do that
bought this album many years ago and still love it
Amazing...masterpiece!!! Legend Neu!!!
this is a great timeless track......I cant understand why its not been played more on radio
because radio is mind control broo
@Rhizosphere calm down Jimmy Neutron
That's because radio sucks
It’s not played more on radio because it doesn’t fit into a ‘box’ ; labeled ‘pop’ or this or that

The perfect song to listen to while observing bucolic landscapes.

Is it safe to assume then that NEU! is some sort of proto post-rock band?
I came here from the reference by Terminal Cheesecake - Neu Seeland
The bass line is similar to "the ocean" by U2 ☺.
