      I’ve been going back and forth with headless for years. Kiesel/Carvin have been doing this for years… I’ve been intrigue but never pulled the pickle out of the jar. Now ibanez is making the Q series… and they are affordable! May have to get one.
      Ola! Hey side bar… have ever reviewed the Carvin legacy 3 or any of the legacy’s? I have a legacy 3 and it chugs likes a drunk whore from the days of Camelot. Just saying.
      Thank you for doing what you do!

      and I will add that having a guitar neck without a headstock is like having a penis without its glans. it might work, it might get you there, but it is missing a very relevant part. no bad words here, just scientific terms.

    • @ThorsShadow
      @ThorsShadow ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dreamscuba I find that weird. On the Ibanez page it says, that the necks of the Quest series are 19 mm all the way through.
      heir thinnest necks (on their Prestige line) are 17 mm at the first to 19 mm at the twelth fret. Most of Ibanez guitars (Standard and Premium line) have necks with thicknesses of 20 to 21 mm or 19 to 21 mm. So, the Quest necks are pretty close to the thinnest necks Ibanez makes. No idea where you get the "chunky" from. I have an Ibanez RG8. Neck is 20 to 21mm and that thing is miles from being even related to chunky. How would an even thinner neck (the one of their Quest series) be chunky?
      Gibson necks are chunky, if you want an adequate example.
      Do you mind elaborating what you mean by chunkiness?

    I bought this thing as a travel guitar. Build quality is incredible for the price (999 euros). Stainless steel jumbo frets. It is very small slim and light weight, except it is not a toy. Pickups are OK. Neck is not thin not a wizard type but is comfy enough, I think it is more of an AZ shape. The only think I did not like is when you put the guitar on your left leg the tuners are coming against your right leg. A body wood extension there would be better design.

    My second favorite guitar is an 80s Ibanez Axstar headless, the one with the real small body abs Steinberger trem that you can engage an anchor on to make it stop floating and act fixed. Even with stock pickups it was instant Meshugah DEI tone of you cranked the middle know. It had active electronics. I exchanged for EMG at some point in the early 2000s but it's a HUGE sleeper.
    The cool thing is the body is so small that even small children can play it, despite the full sized scale length.
    ... and now I'll never find a second one on e-bay.

    I wouldn't say that first chug was a chug, it was more of a scratch sound. I feel like a good chug should have a bit more mid range personally.

    What does not chug: tons of quality issues I found on 4 models in Hungary. I think Ibanez sends the waste to poorer areas: they are good enough for those cheap folks - at the same price range.

      To be fair the "will it chug" series hasn't had many challenging setups so far
