I dunno, something doesn't sound right between the bass and drums to me, doesn't quite sound like they're in agreement about things. Both great players obviously but I ain't sure about them together. May be that Nate is forcing that pocket a bit too deep for them and they're not quite hitting it. I think that's what's going on.
I like his drumming but I dont hear it being (anywhere near) peter erskine dave weckl etc. I dont hear his drumming with patitucci and these cats. He is a good drummer but not at this level.
Reese's Pieces "Unlike Erskine and Weckl who are old dudes" Weckl 2018: YES is an "old dude" Weckl early mid 1980s early 20's (age) changed fusion drumming history and vocabulary forever. To this day I hear ALL fusion drummers playing Weckl licks up the ass. You are way off. If someone hassn't "got it" they aint got it. Sorry but NS is a hype. Very good drummer but nowhere near "Weckl Vinnie Gadd"
One of the most technically brilliant drummers of all time. Unbelievable. Nate is THE man.
Nate Smith is an absolute monster
Is there like a crowd of 3 people? These dudes are killing it!
this groove is fantastic, great players especially nate i mean jeez

The solo combined with the bass it's beautiful

And Adam Rogers is a top fav gtr player for me, too.
best band i saw at north sea jazz some years back was chris potter underground. and the lineup was insane
Nat Smith knows how to lay it down like no other.

Let me put this straight: THIS IS INSANITY
Jaw dropping, period.

funny to think those bass lines were total "cut up" techniques ( on the edit) at the times, now they are played live !
@Dazzle, Denver?...... sure looks like a video filmed at El Chapulchapec to me......
WTF?! no comments on this freak of nature drummer video????!
Marc Batero Espejo that was so good words can't even describe! Im absolutely floored! My GOD.....
Marc Batero Espejo I don’t see no freak of nature!!!...That’s why i didn’t comment!!!!
I thought the title said John Petrucci and I nearly shit my pants. That would've been so odd.
damn
Did anybody else click on this thinking it was Nate Smith and John Petrucci from Dream Theater???
Was filled with excitment, followed by strong disappointment, followed by "scratch that, this is pretty dope"
Yes🤣😂😅
Waooooooo
존나 멋있어

Uunnnnnnggggghhhhhhhhhhh

1:45 ill always wonder how he nails those triplets perfectly

Bruh
Holy shit... 11:58
which is the name of this song
The groovy theme is called "Jack Johnson" (I guess) and it's mixed up with "Evidence" by Thelonious Monk.
This part of Jack Johnson is actually called “ Willie Nelson “.
What the hell was that even?! That hurts my brain lol
what the hell, was that heaven?* ... Yes
Mahavisnu

Are you for real? Please watch some Chick Corea Electric Band material. That guy is a monster!
I like his drumming but I dont hear it being (anywhere near) peter erskine dave weckl etc. I dont hear his drumming with patitucci and these cats. He is a good drummer but not at this level.
wrong
Trent Waterman
Not wrong
Nate Smith is an absolute monster, sure he's not as technical as Erskine and Weckl, but his grooves are (imo) 10x groovier than any of Weckl's work
