Hi. Your old battery was obviously on its last legs but I have found swapping the original solar panel controller to a Sargent MPPT maintains my battery really well. Straight plug and play swap. I switch the power off over the door but leave the main switch on the PSU switched on with no discharge issues. Cheers.

    Hi Martin,
You've done well with that one,
Our last battery lasted about 6 yrs, we now have a 110 battery plus solar all seems to be going well 🙏.
    Enjoy the trip away.

Hi mate, hope you're all ok. 7 years is good. I had a nearly new battery that I' sold to The Pilkies, I upgraded to lithium, see how it goes, see you soon Andy 👍

As others have said, you need to turn the shutdown button to off ( button out) when not using the van.

Yes I am aware of that. There is a lot of different opinions on this though as I a previous vlog many commented on that fact that you can leave it on as there is minimal drain. I have left it on in the past with no issues but it is currently off. The battery I replaced was 7 years old and failing.
      Cheers

They don’t give much away with them these days, it’s all about getting as much out of you as they can!

Hi, just a note, both parts of the battery strap should be in front of the battery. Its job is to stop the battery from falling out if the door was to fail on, say, a motorway. If one part of the strap goes around the back of the battery, it could slide forward and fall out. Best be safe than sorry..🙈 lovely van Martin..👍

Hiya Martin love your videos. It was unclear if you were but make sure that the consumer unit is off when in storage as this happened to us and drained the battery down to 10 Volt's so we bought a new battery and fitted that, however the battery fully recovered and we now have two so I now do 6 months with each😊 hope this helps atb touring with Hetty 👍

Hi, as previously mentioned, there is a lot of different opinions on this as many people on a previous vlog said they leave it on. I did for a while with no issues but coming into the winter months have taken to switching it off. Will see how this new battery goes.
      Cheers

Hi Martin, are you aware that you need to switch the consumer unit off at the black button during storage. If you don’t, the solar panel doesn’t generate enough charge to maintain the battery. I fell foul of this when we first bought our Challenger. This does mean though that you can’t use the remote access function, but this is what is stealing the charge.

I used to have to charge the battery once a month, before finding out about switching off the black button. Since doing it I never have to charge it at all. I think it’s actually in the owners manual. I also use a cover over the worst of the winter with a transparent panel for the solar. Works even with the cover on.

Ours went whilst we were in France in August, due to the pitch we were on and and needing the motor mover and where we were I ended up having to buy a car battery as the nearest leisure battery was about 60 miles away, also I stupidly didn't check how much calor gas we had before we went and that ran out as well, ended up going to Hyper U and buying a campingaz 907 cylinder and a car battery as well as a cheap socket set to change the battery (I always carry a campingaz pigtail because we go to France every year) was an expensive visit to Hyper U but you can't fault the French for the amount of stuff they sell in their supermarkets 😂
We are at Love2Stay in a few days time so will be getting a leisure battery to replace the temporary car battery

A costly trip! I'm always forgetting stuff when we go away, once went away with and forgot half my clothes. Yes, Hyper U have everything, defiantly better than UK. Enjoy Love2stay, cheers
