Class dojo is a personal choice in the classroom! My students love the idea of getting to “shop” the store and earn “money” from their class jobs. If you don’t use it in your classroom/school that is totally okay but this is what works for my classroom!
Class dojo has worked better for my first graders than any other system I have tried. I am always making sure everyone is earning dojo points based on whatever skills they may be working on. Parents love that their kids are getting constant positive feedback daily. I also love the easy communication it provides. My kids never see the home page to compare themselves with others. We have a chat about their behavior one on one on Friday when they have the opportunity to spend their points. We talk about new goals and skills to work on for the next week. Stick to what works for you and your students. ❤
I love your classroom. It's so peaceful. It's nice to see color and not just black and white decor for little kids. If You Give a Mouse a Cookie is one of my favorite books! I also like Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! by Mo Willems. I'm a (2013) retired first grade teacher. I was wondering about the use of the calm down corner everyone seems to use these days. It wasn't something we did so I wondered if it actually helps. Do the kids really use it to 'calm down' or is it a place the kids pretend to need but really use to get out of schoolwork and play with the fidgits. :-) I know I had some little rascals that would have definitely tried to get back there to play with the little toys. :-) lol
@@catworld8119 There’s defiantly a few kiddos that just got there to just be there and play with the fidget toys but I do find it really useful for students who are having big emotions or just need that break. I have a two minute sand timer in the bucket of toys so they have to set that and when it’s done go back to their seat! Mo Willems is one of my favorite authors I have a ton of his books ❤️😊
I Teach World Languages in The Bahamas and Lord it is stressful because I'm the only WL Teacher at my school. I wish my classroom looked like yours and was half the size but I'm pushing through because Teaching is about inspiring the next Leaders of this world.
@@jengiolando4159 Class dojo doesn’t always end in shame and guilt. Especially when used to class currency when everyone is being “paid” for their job. I also teach first grade, they are still very young and enjoy this kind of activity in the classroom.
From Megg Thompson: CLASS DOJO IS HURTFUL ALWAYS. Students aren’t going to tell their teachers they hate it because they love them. It isn’t research based. It was made by a video game designer. Check out Punished by Rewards to learn more.😊
@@elementaryadventures8552 I have learned that pseudo-science has NO place in the classroom. Do what works for YOU and YOUR students. One system for one year might not translate to working with the next batch and vice versa. My students have generally loved earning personal rewards and sometimes (last school year as the latest) they don't. Just have a set of systems on rotation and you'll be fine. God bless for your upcoming year

Absolutely loved the look of the Class. All the best in your 2nd Year. I begin my 10th Year on August 26th.

@@jaideisjourney634 100%, I am so grateful to be able to have this but even more grateful to teach all the wonderful kiddos and inspire them.
Everything looks great ❤❤

Great video!! The new classroom looks so nice
I think so too!
Where did you get all your dojo store items from?
Our school is no longer allowed to use class dojo due to many reasons...way too much money spent as well
We are using it this year, I had a lot of this left over from the teacher that was here before me!
I may have read the word wrong but I think compliment isn't spelled correctly on your rewards jar. No shame but just in case.
It wasn’t! I fixed it right after I put it up 😂
“Me and my friend”. Really?
@@jeanneleed7498 Yes? we went to a teacher store?
Seriously??? Class dojo ends in shame, guilt and embarressment. It’s a BEHAVIOR GAME. Plz don’t fall for it. It’s isn’t neuro-affirming.
