      You know, I had a thought about Salvage Missions. In normal missions the drop pod always leaves as soon as we exit, so exactly how badly does someone have to fuck up to render it stranded and inoperable?

      @@ZarHakkar I mean, in salvage missions, all we do is coordinate triangulation to send in fuel pod, refuel the drop pod and power it up. We never fix the drop pod, making salvage missions more of us players being mechanics and going out finding a lost car that ran out of fuel in the middle of a long road trip, refueling it and then tow it back to the scrapyard to be fixed up or salvaged for parts.
      Edit:with what was said above, the drop pod is not "inoperable" per se, more like it either ran out of fuel or auto-return system failed. But about the fuck up part - ye, 100% agree, those drawves fked up *BIG TIME*.

      I've had some pretty long morkite missions where there were some long ass winding tunnels that made the mule take almost the full 5 minutes to get through.

    Once had Molly glitch out on a piece of terrain and wouldn't move. She was kinda just floating there. She dropped so many nodes that the frame rate tanked the closer you got to her. (It was also super loud!) Luckily the pod opened at the last ten seconds and we completed the mission.

      i for whatever reason played the game without music when i was starting out and completely forgot that the game did have a sound track and was confused about it having an OST you can buy, i didn't remember turning sound off at all, and once i turned it on i was blown away by it.

      also if Music is blasting over the game you miss out a lot of the games' inherent Atmosphere. it's a crime that far too many (the majority) of games commit. :(
      People put in so much effort to create an Atmosphere then Music gets taped on top of it to cover up all of that Audio work. :s

      pretty much like what i said.
      Sound design used to be more deliberate in games, in past Decades. you didn't just have Sound to fil the air, you had or DIDN'T have Sound, and always a carefully made choice. having more Sound was just as much a design choice as having almost none. that Contrast goes an immense way to building and enforcing a perceived atmosphere to what the Player is seeing.

      There were instances where molly would get stuck or confused and never make it to drop pod before. I think engi repellent platforms were one of the reasons at some point.

    Clearly the devs thought about this as the pod doors open in the last 10 seconds. But I'd love if mission control had a line for it as well.
    "It appears the mule is experiencing a bug, she's struggling to reach the droppod with the cargo... *sigh* what a waste of minerals.. well it's no use leaving you lugs down there as well. Climb on board, we're opening the doors."

    I once had a mission fail because the map was so big even the Mule only managed to make it in the last 10 seconds. The map was very vertical and we didn't secure a way back up. It was so vertical you'd probably die four times over from the fall. It's been about a year since then and still never seen a map that ridiculous ever again, but I always secure a path now even on short distances. Always have a path..

    I think Molly has a warp gate inside. Directly linked to the space station or a storage station somewhere else. Which could explain why everything fits inside and why molly also gets left behind if the bot couldn't get into the drop pod. Which now begs the question... Why is the personnel carrier locked if molly haven't arrived to dock into the pod. Don't tell me to prevent bugs getting into the pod. The dwarves snuck in loot bugs and sometimes swarmers back into the Space station.

    by the way, the gate will actually open on the drop pod if molly can't make it at about 10 seconds remaining as a failsafe for if molly gets stuck, which has occasionally happened.
    This didn't used to be the case, and I have failed missions before because of molly getting stuck

    I remember molly got stuck on the way back from the drilldozer. I tried and tryed to dig her off of some geometry but she just kept going back and forwards over a 3 meter space. I decided to leg it on the the last 1:00 left and hopefully, just maybe clip myself into the droppod ir something. Thankfully during the last 10 or 5 seconds molly just instantly teleported to the end, and the gates opened, so im glad the devs thought of such a scenario

    I always wondered what would happen, the closest I've gotten in a standard game being at the end of the cave getting the last of the morkite is that molly made it back in the last 30 seconds of a drop pod that landed like 600m away. I was the scout and I didn't make it back because the stupid walking minecart that is Molly still climbs straight vertical surfaces too high for anyones tools to make up. I couldn't get up with my grappling hook because the terrain generated in such a weird way that there was a pillar she went up, into a resupply pod hole or something and the part where it flattens out into actual cave was too high to get too, and the tight angle and flat walls meant I couldn't grab high enough to not fall straight down like 40m, which I did 3 times. Eventually I got to the pod with like no time left whatsoever but the doors where facing away from me towards a wall and I didn't make it by about 2 seconds because of it.

    One time long ago, I think it was before the official release, I called the drop pod and raced all the way up to it on my own. When I looked back to see how far away Molly was I didn't see her and with my laser up I saw a faint little white outline. Turns out Molly never even stood up, I guess she couldn't find a path to the drop pod.
    I wasn't sure what to do but I decided to stay with the drop pod. Then at the 1 minute remaining mark, Molly suddenly teleported to her drop pod spot and went inside the drop pod and the mission ended as normal.

    had this happen once in a multiplayer lobby, mission was in glacial strata we were deep asf so i just drilled a shortcut and left everyone, Left all dwarves behind even the mule

    I thought that extraction pod always lands in a spot to which molly will reach in 2-3 minutes. Since devs know Molly's movement speed and generate the path for her anyway.

    After seeing these comments, I just learned that the drop pod opens in the last 10 seconds. I remember Molly got stuck on going in circles not too far the drop pod, so my friends and I were panicking and started mining under her until she finally made her way to the drop pod. It was after a looong and lucrative mission too, so the stress was high.

    Would be interesting if GSG adds something distinct to this kind of situation, like a alt mission like taking the minerals with minimules with low capacity to the drop pod almost manually.

      "Looks like the drop pod trajectory was misaligned miners. We're behind schedule and in to overtime. The drop pod doors are open and we're leaving as soon as we collect the MULE. Be on that pod or we're leaving you."
      It would make much more sense for DRG to wait for the MULE until it arrives than scrub the mission, even if they've already written off the team.

    I wanna say that you can do this sort of thing, and as soon as Molly picks her route you can drill to the pod. Don't think she changes her mind once that route is found.

      One time she went up a freaking meteor hole because it managed to partially pierce the entry point... hundreds of feet up in a downward spiral cave.
      I was fortunately a Scout and managed to pickaxe a hole in the tube and use that to get a foothold, then grapple up, hover boots, grapple up... and somehow freaking made it. Was so mad though.

    One can trap molly by digging her a little floating island. She can't leave being placed on flying tiles because she isn't able to pass an edge and fall down by herself. The only way she falls is when the tile under her is destroyed.

    what about combining the engineer's platforms and the dug tunnel, installing the platform at the right time, forcing Moli to take an alternative path, both exits must be close so that the engineer does not run, then it will be possible to dig less, but spend supplies on platforms and a drill

    The drop pod remains shut until molly docks, however it opens when there is less than a minute until takeoff regardless of where molly is.

    what i see on morkite missions generation is a big spiral tunnel around a room and the room before is close if you drill.
    You can make some quick shortcuts as a driller by drilling up sideways saves minutes on the extraction cuz molly is slow to come on some missions

    Just enter the drop pod with glitching before molly gets there, same result. or when she bugs out.

    I didn’t know that the Drop Pod automatically opens on the last like 15 seconds.
    You can hear it open when Molly wasn’t there, that’s pretty interesting.

    It does happened to me once during the early EA (Oktoberfest era)
    Me and my friend were already inside the drop pod but Molly kinda glitched out & stuck stationary,
    It’s only like 10 sec left and I was like "nah, since we’re inside we all gonna be fine ig"
    And boom, mission failed

    Makes you wonder... Lorewise, why does management give you such a tight deadline to return to the pod once you report the mission objective as finished? I mean, it's obviously there for gameplay reasons, but in theory, there shouldn't be anything stopping the pod from staying down there for as long as it needs to.

      Because deep rock galactic is known as an abusive hellhole of a mining company, and the only one insane enough to mine on hoxxes 4. They aren't going to wait around for some dwarves, and they aren't going to let you leave until they're guaranteed their money (with the mule docking, or ten seconds remaining as a falesafe which was probably a legal requirement)

    I don't experienced this. Maybe the dev patched it. For me once the time runs out the drop pod stays there till the muel makes it in, then the drop pod takes off. This has happened to my multiple times playing with others where the DP waits for the muel even after the time run out

    Step 3: he calls for the mule
    Step 4: Calls the drop pod

    They should have a system to put in place where if molly doesn't make it when the timer reacher 1 min and 30, it teleports molly to the drop pod

    Would be interesting to do it again but this time, you make it to the drop pod in time and molly doesn´t. Mission failure might just be because you didn´t make it to the drop pod?

      The drop pod door is closed until the mule gets to it but it is possible to get into some place by the scout's hook where is considered that you in the drop pod and somewhy mission becomes successful without mule.

      @@kirsertu Someone mentioned it opens 10 seconds before it leaves. Cant confirm that but thats worth a try. You can also glitch into the drop pod with any class. Just need to get up to the spot to the left of where molly gets taken into and press jump and forward while wiggling to the sides. I´ve done it many times, its not very difficult.

    Well… if you play multiplayer, you can still win. And you get everything you earned. So long as at least one dwarf is in the pod.
    However, in my 5 years of playing, Molly has not reached the pod only twice in my entire career. And both because of pathfinding errors. But we still won.
