PS1 Longplay - Ridge Racer Revolution

Sequel to Ridge Racer on the PlayStation, developed and released by Namco in 1996. This longplay was not published on the longplays channel as an adequate playthrough already existed there.
After the success of the Original ridge racer arcade port as a launch game on the PS1, it didn't take long to get to work an a new release. Because it differs to the arcade version of ridge racer 2, they have it a different name, revolution. The game does retain the soundtrack from the arcade Ridge Racer 2 however. The game also includes new courses, rear view mirror and a day/night cycle amongst many other things.
In the longplay I show unlocking an extended range of cars by completing the galaga minigame. Showing both endings by completing all courses in Normal and extra modes. I unlock some extra cars by beating them in time trial mode before finally showing some hidden modes for the fun of it. Replays are sometimes included.. just coz.

I'll admit I prefer this longplay over what the channel has. Vastly more crisper footage, less wall bopping in general (Though it's RRR, the controls nearly -force- you at times to wall bang if you want to or not...), and no annoying hiccup/sound popping.

Easy to see why PS1 beat Saturn. It just pushes more polygons at a higher framerate. Basically, it felt like the arcade. Saturn did not.

I remember trying to beat those bloody black cars on this back in the day. This and the original Moto racer were my two favourite racing games on ps1. The good old days. Soundtrack’s absolutely awesome too.

if you didnt stop to play the entire Galaga minigame on the loading screen well past the point of the game loading... then did you REALLY play Ridger Racer???

I don't have my memory card saves for this for some reason, but I absolutely smashed this game and went round the whole track with the black and the white car at full speed without hitting anything. These days my PS1 won't play the audio tracks due to dodgy laser. One day I might try it all over again.
