    I HATE that they make Albedo's story quest a cliffhanger and his actual story time-limited. How are new players supposed to know who even he is without searching for clues on the internet.

    To this day I still think that events like Unreconciled Stars, and anything to do with Dragonspine should have been made permanent.
    It can be debated that there are events that feel more festive and appropriate for certain times of year (like Lantern Rite.) But URS and Dragonspine have content that is incredibly important to both lore and character's stories.
    But since they're limited, a majority of players lack a lot of important context. I know a lot of people who don't understand why others love Albedo because they missed out on 90% of his content (and the good content for Albedo was all in limited events.)
    I'd argue that a lot of Scaramouche/Wanderer's appeal is lost because of this bad habit. There's URS, but there was also that event in Inazuma where it was revealed that it was Scara who was conspiring against the noble families.
    Not just events either. A more personal view of his own back story, like how he joined the Fatui WILLINGLY and already had a condescending attitude towards humans before he was Scara, are kept behind certain artifact sets (which only hardcover lore lovers read.)
    And now he has a friggen baby DRAGON, which also ties him with Albedo. Everyone who didn't play Dragonspine, and Simulnka is going to be so confused. Or worse, not have the impact the devs want you to feel.
    And this is just one example. Arguments can be made for so many others. Like how I didn't know who YaoYao was for a while because I missed out on that Lantern Rite.
    Just...Make certain events required or optional "DLCs" Genshin devs. I beg you.

    Man as someone who started Genshin during Fontaine, I had a lot of information that I had no way of knowing due to my them being held in events.
    For example, when doing Story Quests I got to Albedo’s and really enjoyed it. I wanted more though so I looked into it only to discover two entire events focused on Albedo’s story that can’t be accessed anymore despite their importance to both his character and the building the lore of Dragonspine up more.

    My biggest problem with genshin is this game's characters. It's because they are treated as toys for the writers. Once you get a new shinier one - you forget about the old one, so it's just lying there... abandoned. And an amount of characters that get enough screentime for me to care about them is close to none. Why should I care about Collei's trauma, if I've never heard of it or seen it if i didn't read the manhwa? Why should Lynette's rough childhood be an exscuse for her to be a boring silent character? It is realistic, yes, but I try to immerse myself in fantasy worlds to see something more interesting than an average behavior portrayal. It would have been a lot more interesting to see her grow and battle her past, not succumb to it. It could have been fixed if her character had a "example of what NOT to do" spin, but the game pretty much forces us to be sympathetic with these characters. Similar arguments can be used to pretty much the rest of the cast. Why should i care about their heart-breaking backstories if the are static at the end of all things? No characters had proper redemptions, morally ambigious characters tend to be kind of nothing burgers and everyone else is pretty much a serious douche, an average middle aged person or a happy silly kind sweetn summer child. You cannot write a good story without characters, unfortunately...

    The only thing I wanna comment on is your opinion that genshin wants you to look at the social media posts of official accounts for important lore. I disagree with this, especially your evaluation of A Winter Night’s Lazzo and other such animations, like the Fontaine and Natlan main story teaser.
    They’re not really as important to the lore as you make them seem, but rather just introductions to new characters.
    Let’s take A Winter Night’s Lazzo for example. What lore implications does it really have?
    Really it just shows us a building in Snezhnaya, confirms that Signora is dead, gives faces to the Fatui Harbingers we hadn’t met already, and gives us a bit of a teaser for Sumeru. Other than that, there’s also vague dialogue about the conflict between Snezhnaya and Celestia, but it’s not really important dialogue in the end.
    As for the whole chess game stuff, that people theorized over to predict genshin story is, in my opinion, not as important as people make it out to be.
    Are there some videos that do fill in some parts of the story? Yes, but that’s mainly just the Arlechino animation, which just shows us her backstory, a thing which is also talked about in Arlechino’s character quest, so it isn’t as essential as people would really think.
    Overall, the social media posts on official genshin accounts really are just advertisements that look like lore.

      Still i would say that the promotional stuff is very important because of the experience it provides, the way the game actually presents it's story feels like a very watered down version of what they advertise ( at least to me). If you ingore all the promotional posts and animations and extra stuff and just focus on playing the game, genshin feels like one of the most boring and bland games to play. So even if it's not necessary to know the lore, it is probably the best way to know genshin's lore and story( apart from watching some youtuber explain the lore, that feels more engaging to me than whatever vn stuff genshin pulls). Though ultimately these are just my opinions, feel free to disagree.

    • @ItsJustT
      @ItsJustT  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@AnArtistInAVoid it's a pretty minor thing, that's why it's at the beginning of the video and is a small segment. But when they use Arlecchino's whole animation and then water it down to screenshots in game, I notice that. Let me reword it. To have a full storyline experience in certain areas, it's near necessary to watch some stuff on social media. If you want to experience Arlecchino's storyline in the highest quality provided by Hoyoverse, you'd need to go to their social media account to watch the short. I'm pretty sure I said somewhere that I personally don't care and I think it's cool, but it undeniably contributes to the obscurity of the storyline

    People dont listen to the dialouge because of a core issue of the game. The characters are bland, and even with voice acting are a chore to have to listen to.
    If youre going to make me sit here and listen to a yap fest, then at least give the characters actually intertesting personalities and dialoge.

    • @pinkraven7043
      @pinkraven7043 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      Another issue is the direction and activity of the scenes.
      If it's not a serious cutscene, the animation of every character borders on "stiff".
      Characters move rather awkwardly in some scenes (like how walking requires awkwardly stopping, turning around, stopping, and then walking.) And if they're not moving, they...Stand there and talk.
      And everyone, NPCs included, uses the same animations for certain movements (walk, crossing arms, arms up when shocked, arms on hips, hands up on face when pondering, etc.) Facial expressions run the same too- it wasn't until Natlan where they started pushing the boundaries with more goofy faces.
      So for a while, a majority of Genshin characters just lack unique body language. Which is the most important thing to use to make them more engaging.
      It's why the idles are so appealing. It's the only time in-game where we see all the playable characters do something that is just THEM. We don't even see that in normal dialogue scenes.
      At least in the usual talking scenes, I wish the Genshin devs would be more willing to "animate" the characters. More fluid movement, more expressions, more fun camera angles, etc.
      Just look at the MMD animations made by fans and compare them to the animation in the game. Even HSR characters feel more "expressive" due to its presentation and quality.

    I respect your opinion but i disagree with lot of things you said(i am guessing you don’t know lore of the game that much?). For example enkanomiya. It was from unified civilization and most important things are those enkanomiya books. Those books dropped the biggest lore about primordial one (heavenly principle), shades, unified civilization etc. But those books are meant to be hidden. Those are forbidden books. Orbashi (skeleton you see inazuma island) sentenced to death by heaven because he read those books. Question is do you really need to know those lore for enjoying the main story? Not really. You can enjoy main story like anime. You can enjoy like shounen anime imo. Lore is for people who wanna understand the world more. So they can read those extra info if they want to. Just like formsoftware games genshin have lore behind everything. Even a rock you found randomly.
    Also i hard disagree with your take with WQs. WQs are usually same as AQs in terms of writing if not better. Specially region main WQs. It's look like they Don't have restrictions like making playable characters doing something "cringy" for sell, or even bypass pg 13. They go all out with WQs. Sumeru's one of best character is jhet, also many people actually cried when arama sacrificed (even cc like murderofbirds). Let's not talk about king Deshret. Sumeru 60% writing actually about him. And desert lore one of the best. Same with fontaine ordo quest. Rene (gigachad) one of the best written character like king Deshret. Fontaine today (technology) because of him and his friends. He is just like furina but suffered more, done many things for fontaine but didn’t got happy ending like furina.(like i said they can go all out and don’t have restrictions like can't kill the character)
    Now question is do you really need to know all this to enjoy main story (AQ)? Not really. But it will enhance your enjoyment 10x because many things you may understand better than someone who don’t know/read lore.
    Genshin is insanely detailed world. Every little area in genshin have actual history like real world. Like there was a city in desert named gurabad. Oh boy that city history like game of thrones level writing. Desert had many cities like this with detailed history. Now do you really want all those in AQs? When many people who don’t play for the story already complain why there is so many dialogue. And people don’t pay attention to story gonna button mash dialogue anyway.
    I think many people don’t understand/know difference Between "lore" and "story".
    I agree with limited time event tho. Those people who actually want to know about those lore should have option to download and play those even story.
    Sorry for this big paragraph and yapping.
    Great video tho. It's nice to hear people with different Opinion.

    I doubt they already have a story plan out from beginning. Plus you can only do so much in 45 days to optimise the games for the new areas, characters, ideas and glitch even if you can hire 100 more employees. The live service model really isn't doing any good for its development time.

    Genshin has so much potential gameplay wise and lore wise. But hoyo basically just isn't smart enough, creative enough and overall just SUCKS at story telling or summarizing unimportant things or explanations. Most of the times their explanations look like they're meant for children. Or people who can't read or understand things fast. Just look at how many times hoyo has wasted our time with useless dialogues that should've never have even made it into the game. It's basically just there to suck out more play time out of us AND to waste our storage.

But anywaysssss thank YOU for being so real, authentic and not brainwashed like most people in the genshin community!! It contributes to the tediousness when genuinely good stories like Chenyu Vale and Enkanomiya lack it but a poetry event gets it

    Honestly my biggest problem is that’s it’s just dialogue after dialogue after dialogue with very little actual gameplay. Give us more puzzles to do, more enemies to fight, more areas to explore DURING the quest. And with all this talking, it feels like nothing is said at all. Like 70% of it could be cut and we’d lose nothing of value. They never get to the point. TV shows don’t have this problem because they have to fit into a specific runtime. But Genshin quests can just go on and on with no restrictions. It makes it really hard to plan out when to play quests. It’s really annoying.

      I would agree but also Id hate this because I skip through the story in game while watching someone else react to the stories (more immersive than clicking 100000x times and I can focus like in a movie) but the thing is they already do this! but bad! they keep pausing the story so paimon can drag us to bed then we need to teleport across the country, do story, teleport again, walk, story, teleport again... like its just tedious and interrupts the story because often there isnt that much going on where youd need to process it.
      what they SHOULD do is instead of inflating the time by adding in running or puzzles to actually add in things that are relevant to the story. kinda like in sumeru running around with nilou (tho a bit boring) or when you ran using cyno and deyha in the dessert for the reveals etc.

      They are 100% trying to pad out the runtime, especially with long world quests. I think the only important lore in the Aranara quest for example is that Lumine/Aether was in Sumeru 500 years ago, and that usually only children can see the Aranara.
      The quest could easily have been under an hour and got to the same point.
      A lot of the dialogue goes in circles or repeats things that were already mentioned. Instead of an NPC saying "help me with my problem" and us replaying "sure" it has to be something like;
      NPC "what should I do? maybe I should do this... no, that won't work..."
      Paimon "I wonder what's wrong with that NPC? Maybe we should ask and see what is wrong"
      Travaler "okay..." "...let's do that"
      Paimon "what seems to be the problem?"
      NPC "oh are you adventurers?"
      Paimon "yes we've gone on lots of adventures. Traveler is part of the adventurer's guild!"
      NPC "I wonder if maybe you would be able to help me with problem?"
      Paimon "what is the problem?"
      NPC "the problem is related to this, that, and the other, also yesterday I ate a whole sweet madame"
      Paimon "sweet madame is delicious, I we agree to help with problem will you give us sweet madam?"
      NPC "yes If you do X, Y, Z and solve problem for me I will reward you with food."
      Paimon "Looks like we should help them with problem huh?"
      Traveler "You just want free food Paimon..." or " Yes it would be bad if we ignored this problem"
      Quest takes 10X longer than needed due to dragging you all over the map and/or through some maze.
      NPC "thank you for helping with problem"
      Paimon "you're welcome, we totally just did it for the food though."
      NPC "hah hah you are a strange one , well here is the sweet madame and another reward for your efforts." (chest is sitting nearby)
      Traveler "thanks"
      NPC "don't mention it I'm just glad problem is solved. I couldn't have done it without your help."

    You starts off complaining that theres no storytelling outside cutscenes and story and go on to say you know there is story telling outside cutscenes in artifacts, books, environment and gameplay. I was ready to rant about all the environmental storytelling you just started off with a false impression of genshin and even portrayed the other forms of storytelling as bad for not being included in the main story right after you complained about all of the story being only in the main story!
    The thing about events is fair but the storys told in world quests, and events especially are supposed to be rare obscure knowldege. The bigger problem is how they drop them in the main story assuming you know about them and worse assuming other characters know about them people are not supposed to know about the fake sky, or the dragon sovereigns lorewise even Khanriah's existance is supposed to be esoteric in lore.

    • @ItsJustT
      @ItsJustT  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      That's kinda why I brought it up? They're always brought up years later in ways that falsely assume you know them to begin with, and I legit talked about obscurity in culture within the event section. Things like Fortnite's cosmetic industry thrive on obscurity and rarity 😭
