Me and my 2 friends are spotted in the back ! With shopping bags...We live here and wish you welcome back! Thank you for visiting our beautiful island 😊
I have just been through this Steve. as you have done, remove the vents, and do what you did for your last van...ADD FANS. I put them top and bottom, blowing in at the bottom, and extracting at the top. 42 degree days down to 35 overnight, and the fridge works a treat. By the way mate, it was you gave me the idea for the fans in an earlier vlog. Cheers, Dennis
A lot of people in Norway take a week holiday during easter, and travel abroad or to the mountains to go skiing :) It's a yearly tradition and probably why Oslo was so quiet.
As a Swede I can tell you for sure the only reason norway is closed down at easter is not because they go to church, its because they go skiing in the mountains. Easter skiing is pretty much their religion.
18 years, never used winter covers/settings, for our fridge in the two lorries we had . Didnt have any trouble. Will be interesting to compare when we get our 784 next month.
Hello to you all hope your all doing ok sorry I don't comment much as i used to just been up the wall but I'm still enjoying your vids as always lol well you all take care all the best love from our family to yours x
Love following you guys on your travels. Some great tips on overnights too. I just booked 2 nights at Monte kaolino this summer on my way through to Croatia after watching one of your other Vlogs. 👍🏼👍🏼
I’ve had my Bailey pursuit caravan since 2014 and never used fridge covers and we use it all year round in all weather up here in Scotland and never had a problem
Love your vlogs, been binge watching all weekend. You all have such positive energy, love it! Thanks for the Searchforsites tip, installed it and it looks awesome ❤
Hi all you lovies, just to update off to see our first motor home yehhhhh, please tips how to find the gems on park ups great video enjoy look forward to seeing your next port of call lots of ❤ 😍 💖 ❣ 💕 🎉❤❤❤❤❤
I missed you. I was also in Smøgen and Moss at the same time. And got hit with that snow and sleet. The marina in Oslo is a great location with easy transport into the center but they normally open on 01 may once the boats are back in the water. I go often to Moss but it is very busy any time. Smøgen as you found out is a dream and it gets better as it gets warmer. The Nordby shopping center is 20 to 40% cheaper on many items compared to Norway - and since Norway is Easter closed and Sweden is open - then all the traffic. Hope you get to spend longer next time around. Safe travels.
We had the same problem and removing the covers fixed it. However, I did also discover that the ducting from the Truma heater had also popped off from the vent under the fridge, and the increased heat being blown directly under the fridge was making it work really hard. Not sure about the layout of your van's hot air ducting, but might be worth a look.
I have just spoken to Bob about the fridge. He said the covers are for winter when the van is not in use. In use you must have an air flow. Hope that helps.
Ruck family have issues with water in the habitation door footwell on their Swift Escape. I've been following your adventures, last year we drove through Sweden up to Arctic Circle and back through Norway. Oslo was a great stop to endca great Scandinavian trip.
Great and interesting blog tell me why is it we only see George on the blogs ,don’t the other two like being on film ? What a beautiful place Norway is but it’s a religious country I think as i was told ,glad you took the air blanks of so dangerous with them on and the fridge/freezer working, 👀 looking forward to the next place you end up ,take care keep safe,John 👀🇬🇧🌹🤩👌🫠🤞🫢🤫😋💔💔😢😢🤫🤔
The other two really don't like appearing. They are 17 and 15 so they get to decide just how much, or how little they appear. Every so often they allow us to film a cameo!
Correct the Marina is only really used in the summer as you say when the boats are all out. We stayed there in the summer and is was great. Do you use the Aires book because there are a lot of Aires around Scandinavia, we found all of them had room for large vehicles. We found the price of a McDonald's big mac 10 years ago was equivalent of £10. No wonder the Norwegians go to Sweden.
I was under the impression that the fridge covers were for when you shut up the van for an extended period, to be honest I’ve never had ours on, not even at Christmas in Switzerland, (I didn’t even think about it, may it’s got something to do with getting rid of hot gases, I don’t know I’m no expert) loving the vid’s as always. Have you seen the latest “Kinging It” absolutely smashing.
just an idea for you guys...but there is a ferry from stockholm to riga, latvia, and then its a straight run down through lithuania, poland and germany...,
I always thought the winter covers were more for when you are parked up and vehicle is stored? Keeps the worse of the winter weather out... Plus the exhaust for when you run on gas is behind that grill, so you dont want to block it off and fill the van with carbon monoxide...
As with all our videos, there is a link in the video description. Full details of our camping, motorhome & filming gear can be found here: www.roamingradfords.com/our-gear.html
The winter covers are to protect from water ingress during long months of inactivity. if your using your fridge they should be removed otherwise the fridge will get too hot and for safety reasons, it's going to stop. Sweden looks amazing. Seems like the Norwegians are worse than the French for closing.
Okays then. Neither of which were in this specific video. But thank you for your feedback. Thankfully TH-cam is a big lovely place with lots of choice available to you.
Hiya my husband and I got a kon tiki similar to yours but the smaller one I have a niggling question , how do you have the van radio on with the ignition on? Driving my husband nuts
Do you mean without the ignition on? If so you can just press the round volume button in to power the radio on without the need for the keys to be in the ignition
Great stuff. Be warned it will turn off automatically after around 30 minutes, you may be able to change this in the settings, but we just push it on again
Our fridge in our swift is so so finicky about it’s temperature we had to fit fans to it to go to south of France so it would work in the cold it hates having the vent covers on and stops working it has a mind of its own Nerves known a fridge like it
¨Welcome to our home country! Sweden. We live in the south of Sweden. (The Swedish Provence). And it's really practical for us! Just 800 km of driving to our beloved France! :) This summer we will explore the last white spot in France, for us! Toulouse! After that, we will start it all over again! We can't get enough of France. And, we are slowly learning the language! Very slow..... ;) Br, Johnny & Ewa
We have a tub of tools in the garage, but why go to the trouble of unlocking the garage, digging the tub out, which is probably at the bottom of the pile, then digging through it for a screwdriver, when I had a knife to hand that did a grand job nice and quick. That job called for a good old butter knife 🔪
I bet the "winter covers" are for if you park the Camper for the winter so no rodents get in.. It clearly didnt get any cooling because of it. a wild guess from a none camper Nordmann

I love this!! Thank you so much. You live in such a beautiful place!
We enjoyed this trip with you. Never seen Oslo that quiet. We,re glad you found more places to explore. Smorgen especially looks beautiful. Cheers 🍻
Thank you and 🍻 to you too xx
Loved George’s chorizo gag…..brilliant!!😆
I am new to your wonderful fun channel, so l am binge watching to catch up, love from your new Aussie friend
Welcome along Donna Maree!
Winter covers are for actual winterising the vehicle. When you park it up over the winter months. Always take them off when in use.

Absolutely!! Skiing seems to be a very important “Easter Tradition” - as it should be!
You folks never fail to deliver. Grand vlog, really cheers me up, thank you xx

Thank you Denise x

That’s the kind of religion I can get behind!
I love how you tell us how it is, good or bad, ie fridge/freezer problems, loving video as usual.
Thank you x

Steve loves using the worldwide Big Mac Price index to benchmark and judge the counties we visit!

Lovely aren't they!
I’ve never heard of winter covers. I imagine the service person didn’t think you would use it in winter. 🤷♀️🇨🇦
just an idea for you guys...but there is a ferry from stockholm to riga, latvia, and then its a straight run down through lithuania, poland and germany...,
We would love to do that, but we are so restricted by school holls.

In case anyone wondering it is worth paying the yearly subscription for search for sites (£8 odd). Opens up lot more features.

Makes perfect sense now!
Heat not getting out so comes back in at it
I used to live in Norway in Oslo and it’s very expensive for the brits travelling over but beautiful country

So what was the water issue on the door step?
Still looking in to it!

I love the idea of a “naughty fridge”, making terrible decisions about what temp it should be each day!

Oh sweet lord go to Malta or come to Loch Lomond if you have any probs we’re there to help !!!x
Ohhh! That would be a trip!
I thought the winter covers were for when you van is off road for the winter
Could be!
Buy sweets in Sweden different level.
All of Europe celebrates Easter for a week. Its England that is the odd one. Remember the main religion is Catholic in Europe.
They are not Catholic in Norway…or the rest of Scandinavia….generally they are fine Protestants!
Disappointed you don't have any tools, fancy using a KNIFE to open the cover!
