In today’s episode, Becket chats with Owen Strachan about his new book, “The War on Men: Why Society Hates Them and Why We Need Them.”
Strong men are not “toxic.” If they go away, evil men take their place, and weak men offer no resistance.
The idea that masculine men-assertive, risk-taking, single-minded-are a problem to be solved threatens our whole society. The cultural elites cheering the decline of men are trying to erase God’s design for half of the human race-the half that historically provides, protects, and leads for the good of others. The disappearance of the masculine ideal is bad news for men, and it’s terrible news for women.
What will happen without men of courage and conviction? Who will do the hard jobs that no one else can do? Who will be left to face down evil, strengthen families, build churches, and bolster communities? Owen Strachan addresses those questions in this compelling new book, an inspiring blend of cultural analysis, biblical teaching, and passionate exhortation. Cutting through the ideological fog, he explains what’s at stake. If men are told they’re not needed, they disappear, becoming lost men. They get frustrated and lash out, becoming angry men. They go alpha and chase their lusts, becoming exaggerated men. Or they lose their masculinity and embrace effeminacy, becoming soft men.
And yet there is hope, rooted in the wisdom and grace of God. In His kindness, He transforms lost, angry, exaggerated, and soft men into a force for good in this world.
Male or female, if you want to understand manhood better, if you are tired of feminized men, this book is for you. It’s for struggling sons, disillusioned friends, discouraged coworkers, confused college students, disheartened grandfathers, concerned mothers, and everyone in between.

    ABOUT BECKET:
Becket Cook was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory
School of Dallas. After graduating from college, Becket moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of writing and acting, finding success in both. He eventually went on to become a production designer working with the top photographers and directors in the world on fashion shoots for magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and for ad campaigns such as Gap, L'Oréal Paris, and Nike.
Finding a new sense of freedom in L.A., Becket also fully engaged in his new life as a gay man. He had a series of many relationships with men throughout the next fifteen years.
In September of 2009, Becket met a stranger at a coffee shop in Silver Lake who invited him to his church in Hollywood called Reality L.A. Becket reluctantly agreed to attend the service. After hearing the sermon that Sunday, Becket was utterly transformed by the gospel and gave his life to Christ. He also knew on that day when God revealed Himself to him that homosexuality was a sin and that he could no longer live that life. Becket was more than happy to count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus his Lord.
Becket spends much of his time in ministry speaking at churches, universities, and conferences helping believers (and non-believers) understand this issue biblically, theologically, culturally, and personally. Balancing grace and truth when teaching on this subject is of primary importance. His goal is to challenge the current cultural narrative about sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular by demonstrating through his personal testimony and biblical truths that, yes, homosexuality is still a sin, and that following Christ is infinitely more satisfying and joyous.
He has lived all over the world in major cities such as Rome, Vienna, and Tokyo.
Becket graduated from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University in 2017 with a Master of Arts in Theology.
Becket’s book, A Change of Affection: A Gay Man’s Incredible Story of Redemption, with a
foreword by Francis Chan, published by Thomas Nelson, released July 30, 2019.
TBCS theme song by Seth Kaye

I wish I could afford a hundred or a thousand of these books to place them in churches to place them in families and to help men. There should be seminars in the Christian churches that are based upon this book. Thank you Beckett and thank you Owen. Amen

Men are hesitant to share their feelings bc ironically they are told to man-up, and may be made fun of. Very little attention is paid to men's issues and the unChristian deeds of a few men are applied to men in general. Most men want to feel needed and loved. I'm glad this issue is being addressed. Great interview, Becket.

Thank you Becket for covering such a serious and important topic. I see the feminization of men every day both mentally and physically. I thank God for my man’s man and very alpha father. What an example he set. My entire neighborhood was filled with them when I was growing up. The juxtaposition of what I saw then to what I see now is scary to say the very least. Christians please pray for the boys and men of today. Only the Lord can repair what the enemy is working hard to destroy. 🙏🎚️

Amen amen amen!!! When I first came to salvation 14 years ago I had been so emotionally and verbally abused by males, starting with father, and then all boyfriends/fiances. And the cheating and lying....I was pretty convinced when I first entered the church that men were only partly human. I am not kidding. I thought there is a serious defect here.
After getting so much healing and deliverance, I have come to truly love and appreciate men and God's righteous order, and I have a lot of compassion now for men. This is a very tough world for you all and it's hard to submit to Jesus Christ as your head ship and be willing to die for your wife and family, to be servant leaders. I look forward to His return and His righteous order reestablished.

As a woman, I say BRING THE MEN BACK and ladies, learn to be LADIES and not be so toxic with your criticism. Feminism has gone too far in so many directions. I miss strong men, including the DIGNITY of that. Great interview, Mr. Cook. Thank you, Mr. Strachan.

This is a great interview. I remember in the 60’s women’s magazines were carrying articles about toxic boys and young men Which alarmed me and my sister because we had boys. We were afraid that teachers would put the boys down and make them feel less of themselves. So it’s taken at least 60 years for these women to achieve their goal. The television and movie industry helped in this de masculinization too.

Amen! We need strong men in Christ! Personally, I’ve had to be very independent when I don’t want to be because I haven’t had good strong men around me, and I’m exhausted from having to do all the ‘man stuff’ my whole life. I love it when I see families and couples in public with what look like a strong man, makes me so happy for them and that they’re glorifying God!

      Amen!
My (gay) cousin said to me one time "our family has so many strong women in it".
I replied that I never CHOSE to be strong! And I don't think his sisters did either...
Situations where I was the only one out of my dad amd two brothers and then latterly - after my dad died - out of us siblings eg. driving relatives around, including to the doctor's because neither of my brothers have learned to drive and giving up study and then 30 years later a job I loved to be a live-in carer to my mom REQUIRED IT and I'm glad I stepped up.
I don't regret it because such situations increased my faith and made me mature.
It had the opposite effect on my brothers, neither of whom are regenerate believers.
PS My name is Leenie and I'm female. Most people read it next to my profile pic as "Lennie" 🙄

Finally got to listen all in one go - my husband is a real man - his daughters adore him turn to him and my elder daughter has nothing good to say about men today and to be honest I have to agree. My husband does for me Eph 5:25-26 yet is not a believer by any measure. We went to his retirement dinner last night and I could see the same admiration in his team. He teared up hearing their words of appreciation and yes love. I believe firmly God has his hand on him. He is the retired CEO of Cement Concrete and Aggregates Australia

Its sad because women have to step up when men fall behind -- they can’t sit idly by 😢
But if and when she requests him to step it up, his ego is shattered and he shuts her down instead of protecting her .
I see both sides of this problem!
    It’s been a slow fade.
We keep getting warned over and over!
But what is being DONE about it?
It needs to come from the pulpit!

I’m one of those women, too. I need to say however that even Christian programs as well as Christian movies and books are part of the problem. The programs tell men they’re wrong without encouraging them while failing to mention the sins women commit and the books and the movies tend to make the man the bad guy who needs to change and the women the good guys.

Owen did a great job connecting masculinity with biblical stories and biology.
What I see correcting this is actually the trans women taking over women's spaces as feminist did to men. This will wake women up to the fact that men and women are different and definitely not equal.

WOW! GREAT MESSAGE! ❤ My husband is a real and wonderful man. He is very respected and many younger men really look up to him and turn to him for advice. He never, ever compromises his beliefs for any reason. He is trustworthy and he is faithful. I grew up in a broken home. I never knew my biological father. I really had no idea how a traditional family worked. I just knew that I wanted one. God literally brought my husband and me together. There is NO way it would have/could have happened otherwise. We met at a teen prayer group when he was 16, and I was 15. We did not date, but we were friends. He moved to NY after he graduated, and we completely lost contact for over three years. We went on with our lives. Out of the blue, God brought us back into each other's lives!
We celebrated our 42nd anniversary in Sept. Hallelujah! God is SO good! ❤❤

Men started to become effeminate in the '80s, what with the hairspray &
makeup. There was a bit of a reprieve in the 90s, but it gets worse all the
time. I pointed things out to my son when I noticed the trend and he
agreed. I, for one, love male toxicity. There's not enough of it for my liking.
My daughters feel the same. They like manly men. It gives women a
    sense of security.

Both men and women need to learn how to be assertive. I think people get aggressive mixed up with assertive. We need to think through how different these words are.
Being assertive is having confidence in what we know is true. It's positive. It is also courageous in doing what needs to be done and yet be gracious when someone disagrees.
Aggressive is downright bullying! Nobody needs to be aggressive! It's self-centered and narcissistic. "My way, or the highway!"
Doing acts of kindness, for example, in some cases, can take assertiveness, never with aggressiveness.

@@kathierouse6046Yes, you're right. It's important to distinguish between the two.
The word "bold" is used a lot to describe the disciples in Acts.
They were assertive and took authority in situations.
      But they were never aggressive.

Ok guys, have you ever worked a physical job like summer janitorial or landscaping, snow shoveling, building, brickwork. You will need a man, regardless. Just find a physical job and find out tge hard way. Testosterone definitely plays a role. Men have longer upper torso which might be necessary on these physical jobs.

"Passive/agressive". Why bring psychology into this? That's so much bunk.

    • @peregrino9154

Psychology is the study of the mind. Are you saying there's no such thing as the mind or that we shouldn't study it?

    • @leenieledejo6849
      @leenieledejo6849 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@peregrino9154A lot of psychology steals from Biblical truth. One example is "projection" (a term used in psychology). The Pharisees CONSTANTLY use projection on Jesus (calling him "Beelzebub" and a liar etc).
The rest of psychology is observation.
So yep, Christians (by definition, who have the Holy Spirit) do not need to study psychology or use terms found in psychology because a) the Bible is THE best study of the human mind and b) the Holy Spirit is THE best teacher about people.

    • @cheril8891
      @cheril8891 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

@peregrino9154 Psychology should not be in the church. Psychology doesn't acknowledge sin. Psychiatrists will label children with an illness like ADHD and ADD to name two, then put kids on mind altering drugs. So they send kids off thinking there's something wrong with them. You think that doesn't anger God? God knows every single detail about each person, including how many hair's one has on their head. So why would any Christian turn to someone who doesn't know one single thing about the child when God knows everything and how to fix it. For free. Also, how many people go to a psychologist for depression? Here, take these drugs. They won't turn to God and ask WHY they're depressed. But take drugs to cover up what's buried in their hearts and minds. Big pharma must be making big bucks for all the mind altering drugs the Dr's. prescribe.

John Eldredge has been talking and writing about this for years. Also, Nancy Pearcy, just wrote her book. There was a book titled something like Jesus and John Wayne, kinda negating men.
The saddest thing is that women are also being erased or negated. I guess what we'll end up with is just transgender people.😢

Yep and I seriously see young men on public transport here in Europe be sooo focused on their phone/video game it looks like the "worst thing" that ever happens in their day is someone interrupting their game.
My great uncle was fighting in WWI at their age.
Men (young or old) are not passive victims in all this.
The unredeemed are not known for their courage. For them it''s all about self and comfort first and seeking an easy way out.
      Judgment has begun with men.
Women simply find it harder to shirk responsibility, especially when it comes to looking after young children and the elderly.
Unredeemed women have a more sensitive conscience (in GENERAL) than unredeemed men.
