The clacking of the crab legs at the beginning was classic Julia and a sign there was fun on the way. An absolutely charming, friendly welcome.

I love how she tells us to complain to the store. She taught us to expect and demand so much better when it comes to food and cooking.

Well said. A true chef like Julia never settles for second quality ingredients. That can ruin a dish of any kind

27:49 I would *never* laugh! She has always made me feel like I can do anything in the kitchen. So many years later and it’s still one of the most instructional, friendly, and empowering cooking shows.

I ate crab my whole life and loved it. When I lived in Virginia, a crab shack moved into a former 7-11 nearby and we'd buy paper bags full of steamed crab. And then one day when I was in my forties I became allergic. Sort of overnight. Depressing! I miss it. So much fun to lay a bunch of steamed crabs on a table lined with newspaper and pick crab meat, munch on corn on the cob, and drink cheap beer. It's actually delicious on its own. Julia's fancy preparations aren't really necessary.

I know some people who had sudden seafood allergies. So strange the way it comes up out of nowhere.

I love how much butter she uses in her cooking. It makes everything so creamy and delicious!!

I've never tasted crab meat. I have had lobster but didn't like it much. But her crab dishes look yummy and easy & I expect canned crab isn't that hard to find at the grocery store. Might give them a go.

Crab has a subtle taste and a wonderful texture, it's great with butter. I like it more than lobster.

Let us know what you think. I love crab and just bought 1 1/2 lb. of lump meat and 2 lbs of claw meat since it's been on sale at Walmart. I bought some a couple of weeks ago and made crab cakes.

Crab taste is very unique, more subtle et delicate than the lobster. My mother is making fir every Christmas eve, a spread made of crab, radish, shrimps, shallots and cream cheese. It is divine as appetizers with crakers.

@@biteofdog It really is better than lobster and I grew up on the Connecticut shore and loved lobster but never ate crab. Then I moved to the Gulf Coast and that made a crab lover out of me.
