  • “His punch felt like a sledgehammer.”
Watch the work of the true master of striking.
In this film, Systema founder Mikhail Ryabko shows how to hit and destroy any attack with his fist.
There are no tough poses; Mikhail smiles, stands straight and relaxed, makes a slight turn or step, and yet his strikes knock the opponents off their feet, sending them rolling and flying across the room, collapsed and confused.
Mikhail reveals a number of priceless training tips to develop this precision and power:
Proper fist placement, escapes from the line of attack, the distance of an outstretched arm, use of one hand or both, working on one spot or on the move.
He uncovers how your shoulder can slow your strikes and explains the importance of keeping your wrist straight to prevent the recoil into your head and spine.
Mikhail also teaches the essentials of how to take strikes:
How to tense up only the area of the immediate contact, to exhale not from the stomach but from your chest, and not too early but at the moment of impact.
Mikhail gets into more advanced work too, such as evasions and counter-strikes in one movement, or punches that travel up, down or spiral across the receiver’s body. He can remove the pain of the strike impact from the partner’s body or redirect the energy into the receiver’s hands or internal organs.
It is remarkable that as crushing as Mikhail’s strikes are, the participants volunteer and line up to get punched. This is because while Mikhail’s fists resolutely destroy every attack, they do not cause lasting damage but a provide a profound learning experience.
Filmed in Moscow in 2002, this video is a timeless treasure of mastery.

If anyone is wondering why it's done slowly, or why the partners are making such exaggerated movements, it's because on of the core principles of systema is to absorb and redirect the flow of energy (re: force, as in that of an attacking fist or foot). Systema doesn't require much actual speed in order to cause pain and injury. It's just simple physics- hard object (fist) vs soft object (soft pparts of the body). If you turn on the juice, it'll fucking hurt. But then you're not really learning the principle behind the exercise, which is to absorb and redirect the flow of energy. Systema is truly something that needs to be experienced in order to understand it fully.
But I can assure you, as a skeptic myself, who doesn't buy into bullshido, I can definitely say this- Systema is less of a martial art than it is a philosophy on body mindfulness and readiness. Compare it more to yoga or tai chi (both originally descended from martial arts) and Systema starts to really open up to you. Of course, since it's from Russia, of course it'll involve pain and aggression. But the Cossacks that systema originates from didn't practice in pretty AC filled rooms. They trained in forests, rivers, and fields, with and without any prep or modification (like flattening the ground, removing small rocks, etc). Which is why, if you start looking into Systema deeper, it begins to look a lot like Pencak Silat. They share similar roots. Also why the karambit fits so well into the violent part of Systema.
Before you laugh it off, take a deeper look. You might be pleasantly surprised at what you find.

Some of the hardest punches I received were from people who experienced his punches and described it like an anvil for a fist.

You can. Look up systema classes in or around your area. They are growing. And if there's nothing nearby, there's always youtube to teach you the basics. Quite a few systema channels here.

I wish I could punch as hard as Mikhail. It’s crazy because he doesn’t have large hands or wrists but he punches like a Mack truck. Wish he could teach me.

People will never understand any systema clip.
For systema to succeed and gain more credibility, it needs to be shown the way the audience would find it legit.
    These are just training videos.
Show it in much more brutal and faster attacks, and against people who actually know how to fight.
There's no way this will ever convince anyone, and you can't act like you don't care about people's opinions because in the end they're the ones who are going to sell it for you.
Systema has no respect unfortunately in the world of modern martial arts.
Let's face this fact, and if it's ever going to be changed, you need to prove yourselves with known popular fighters.
No one will look so flawless and like a God in a fight. This is like BS kung fu, or self defense demo stuff.
Systema has a lot to offer, stop advertizing it poorly.

A lot of practitioners are proven and were black belts in other styles first.

      @gtr5351 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@clivejefferies that means that their blackbelts are what made systema work for them.
When you have a good understanding of martial arts, everything becomes easy. Vladimir Vasiliev was a karate champion in russia, and Mikhail was a wrestler.
      Nothing really proves systema.
You can even make aikido work if you have trained more practical martial arts.
This debate is useless, and sorry to burst your bubble but these videos are a silly way to show the efficiency of the art.
