Didn't you watch the Mercedes videos a couple of months ago? There have been multiple videos where he spoke German. And considering he is speaking English most of the time, his German accent is really good.

Yes and they are much better for the environment and pollution. All those new cars that brake down often and full of platic and sensors. One vw combi is the same as 4 cars made after 2002.
Why? My one has only done 700 000km and went from Johannesburg to the Kaapse Kombi Kult Kamp-out last year and will be going to this year's.
VW seem to be intent on releasing a new van under the I.D. badge, and while it might not fully replace the charm of the classics I think it's a well-intended effort

We just cant make ultra basic cars anymore, as seen with the mini. Once you have filled its boots with lead in the form of crumple zones, ABS, and various exhaust filters. What your left with is a converted vw transporter.

I grew up in one of these! Not the camper version, just the regular bus. My parents had 2 consecutive ones. Being one of six siblings (so a family of 8), it made a lot of sense. Very practical.

QUESTION: Guys, these CarThrottle "specials" are the best. Obvious from the comment section people like this a lot. It is being called "the new old Top Gear" quite a bit.
What is the main factor holding you back from making these specials/trips/stories longer or more complex? Is it budget? Time? Crew capacity?

Wtf, i am living in Dortmund(where you are visiting JP) and Bad Pyrmont also is my hometown (actually Lügde, but basically neighbors) I lived there for the first 10 years of my life. To proof that i am from there: This city is full of old people. Pyrmont is basically one big retirement home. Thats just suprising, creepy and freakin sick. 16:13 you were driving down the südstraße, past the zoo and the public swimming pool. Damn this just brought up so many childhood memories! I just hope so much that you will see that

I remember playing Gran Turismo 5, modding the VW Bus for 15hp, adding maximum weight and doing a lap of the Nurburgring, I think it took over a half hour XD. Good times! I had the transmission set to automatic, so I was a few minutes slower than my friend, who was smart enough to use manual transmission, to keep it at max rpm.
I definitely have to visit the Volkswagen Museum. For me it´s only 100 miles to Wolfsburg, i´ve been to the rather boring "Autostadt" and simply didn´t know that there´s also a museum. That would have been way more interesting.

I don’t understand the negativity towards Germans in the comment section, people being surprised the lady let you in and the thread that follows. But I’m a British Kenyan who visited Köln and it was incredible, amazing people, so friendly made me feel so welcome as a Brit. I advise anyone to go Carnival, it’s so awesome. And yes, sure, that’s not the whole of Germany but everywhere you go is also home for jackasses and assholes, doesn’t mean all of them are like that.
