I agree with you. Either he's had a really good break and warm up before this, or he's lip syncing. I've watched a LOT of videos of them live, and he's never usually this good. Even in their live studio videos, he doesn't stay with the song. He improvises often and does things differently to the studio versions of songs. Still, would love to see them live, despite the fact that he doesn't usually sing in tune most of the time xD
Ian’s early performances of this song (from before he started trashing his voice with drugs-so 2006-07) are generally in tune (there is the frequently making the crowd sing the words “heart out” though), however there are so many harmonies, especially in the chorus and bridge, that it cannot really be replicated live…that said this is clearly lip synced…
I'm a huge fan, but they ARE "lip syncing" and i think they have admitted to doing so. It's something to do with the sound and that it's impossible to get the setup right in the short amount of time that they are given on the pitch. Doesn't bother me, they still put on a great show!
@christinaxgaga The vocals are good, but aren't perfectly like the recording. If you look, there are cables running from the guitars into the amps. Also, there is clearly power. The lights are working.

It's mimed. Lee admitted it and apologized on twitter to all the fans who came. sure they were pissed, but they couldn't get all the equipment off that quickly before the match started. they're amazing live though. they were gutted that they had to mime.
Anytime i go oa LP live video ppl say they are lip syncing wtf!?!?! they are just good live, the power is clearly working here otherwise the mic at the beggining and end wouldnt be working, and the lights are working to, plus is hard to mime when playing drums, accept that they are an amazing band, and keep you stupid "lip syncing" comments to yourselves. I'm a huge fan of LP and I always have been but Ian's vocals outside the studio aren't great! if you know the album track well and have heard them live you can tell he is lip syncing here! The rest of the band are more than likely playing Live but I'd bet my house Ian isn't! And by the way it's very very easy to turn a Mic off and on again

That's probably the most obvious lipsinging performance I've ever seen
aggressivetorilla they were forced to lip sync. Same with an mtv performance more than ten years ago, they make it obvious in protest
Defo lip synced. listen to them live normally and you will notice how out of tune Ian is. This is identical to studio version.
