This is great. I need you to go to Darkchild and make up with him or whatever yall need to do. I need the next influential shift in music again from yall. DJ Camper is cool but he is wayyy beneath your caliber of singing. I am ready for B8 and cant wait for a tour.
I have to disagree. Camper actually shifted her style once more with B7. That album was different, experimental and ahead of its time. It had so much lyrical depth and heart. She was exorcising a few demons in a few of those special cuts and she SAAAAANG, mkay! To me, it's her magnum opus. Short, hella crisp but fiyah from start to finish, with the exception of maybe 1 song. I think her era with Darkchild was dope and sound shifting at that time for sure. Revolutionary in fact, but you can't replicate it again and again. It has to be organic and if they're no longer vibing as before, leave it be. Also, she's said so many times that the magic maker was LaShawn. He is the one that brought the layering, hot ad-libs/vocals and harmonies out of her. Darkchild mostly did the music. LaShawn is gone and so if you just want to replicate those 'vocals', it won't happen. I appreciate all of B's album for being so envelope-pushing, including 2/11, which again was a sound shifting album that many imitated afterwards. It was futuristic, yet soulful and yet Darkchild wasn't in it. It took R&B into that futuristic sound that dominated in 2011-2014. One thing Brandy gone do, is grow and push herself to work with new people and discover and create the magic that lies in each of those partnerships. I'm glad she looks forward and not back or remains in comfort zones.

I think music often resonates even deeper with us depending on what's transpiring in our lives when we first hear it and of course all of the other subjective variables that determine how hard we rock with it. I really dig B7, I hear so, so much vocal complexity and excellence in it. Brandy outdid herself, but most importantly, the subject matters. I felt that she truly penned her life of the past decade or so, albeit in a very metaphorical/not obvious or literal way and for me, as someone that's beeeen a 🌟, I appreciated getting insight into her personal struggles, it (B7) personified and humanized her. Made me love her even more. And the production...hhhmm. I'd have to think and tune into that to have a comparative opinion vs the other albums. I just liked it's musicality, in that all the songs gelled and flowed as one body of work (for eg, I can't say that about Afrodisiac). But I can't say much about the mixing. You may be right and your ear is more attuned to those elements than mine in this respect.
