Wow Keshu Bhai. What a story!!!! Simply amazing. I am just blown away by this totally unique and positive story. My Grandmother (Nani) was born in Issa Khel, a Tehsil of Mianwali. Spoke Pashto before learning Punjabi and had lived and traveled all over KPK in her childhood. Listening to her stories would convince you that Peshawar, Bannu, Jamrud and the northern areas of Punjab were some of the best and most hospitable places in the world in terms of the warmth of the people, social customs, and tolerance. I guess it is the attachment once has to her/his land, something that is borne out by the narratives of practically each person displaced in 1947. Hats off to Lala ji and to you! We need more people and more stories like this.
One thing is clear that our leaders had not at all considered discomfort of people involved in this partition. We had paid a huge cost of freedom in terms of sacrifices and partition. Which cannot be forgotten. Respect for all those people who have faced that time.

We are blessed with close friendship of several Pakistanis which transcends the conflicts going on back home. I remember, during the height of Kargil Operations of 1999, my Dad asking his friend, "Bhatti Sahib, jinne ve eh keeta hai, onne kuch te sochia hoyega, onne ki sochia, ki dooja banda baitha rahega, hath te hath dhar ke" (Whoever put these men on the mountains, what did he think, that the other person will just sit still and watch?) Mr. Bhatti's reply was illuminating "Oh bandaran de hath ustra daoge, te ki hoyega." My experience is that while even hard line people will readily express sentiments of togetherness in "one on one" conversations, they are reluctant to admit so publicly.

We are blessed with close friendship of several Pakistanis which transcends the conflicts going on back home. I remember, during the height of Kargil Operations of 1999, my Dad asking his friend, "Bhatti Sahib, jinne ve eh keeta hai, onne kuch te sochia hoyega, onne ki sochia, ki dooja banda baitha rahega, hath te hath dhar ke" (Whoever put these men on the mountains, what did he think, that the other person will just sit still and watch?) Mr. Bhatti's reply was illuminating "Oh bandaran de hath ustra daoge, te ki hoyega." My experience is that while even hard line people will readily express sentiments of togetherness in "one on one" conversations, they are reluctant to admit so publicly.
