The lack of extended rain gutters and other body features shows this is not a '60 car and certainly not a Cooper. Still its a very nice restoration and I am sure whoever owns it will enjoy the experience. Always good to see a 'saved' Mini...
My first car was a 1960 Mini. gearstick came up from the front bulkhead, not a remote version like this one, dipswitch on the floor, starter button on the floor, and most certainly did not have an alternator, it had a dynamo. this is a nice car, but it is a bitsa.
In USA every Mini is a Cooper! LOL! This is an early 1960 standard Morris. With many of the early model details that are unique to 1959-60 Minis. It also has been tarted up with a lot of Cooper stuff. Should be be converted back to original.
Apart from the fact that Cooper's were not in production until 1961 ( my father had the first privately owned example) this is a much later shell ' 67 at least. However, at least it's been saved whatever model it is.

Doesn’t matter if you’re not a purist, the important thing is the car hasn’t been through the crusher & gets to be driven & enjoyed 👍🏻.
stephen hill. The first Mini Cooper (997cc engine) was released in 1961. The first Mini Cooper "S" (1071cc engine) was released in 1963. Among many other differences, all Coopers had twin carbs and fuel tanks, but this one does not. Although this car looks to be an excellent example of a very desirable car, I don't think it's a Cooper. Cheers, Rob.
Yes Sir, here in my Country Argentina the first Mini Cooper appeared in 1961 ,bought and driven in the Gran Premio de Turismo in 1961 by Mr Roderic Daly, it was british green and ivory roof!!!!... Very nice car!!!!.. Thank you for sharing!!!
The good thing about these comments is the mini enthusiasts will tell you everything that is incorrect, obvious alloys weren't on early cars, and the Brummies at Longbridge seem to of put the steering wheel on the wrong side
not a cooper door handles from later than1960 car should have chrome round the windows on the doors only has 1 carburator should have 2 seats are not correct the bottom and top of the dashboard should have a leatherette covering should have overriders and pipes on the bumpers
@@didzee002 Yes but the first coopers were 997 re-stroked 850s and had 2 carbs, disc brakes and a CR gearbox. Basically it was a 1,000 off homologation special until the 998 car came out in '64
997 CC MK 1 Cooper was produced july 61 thru nov 63.

late model seats- 1967 or newer seats, missing all of the stainless trim, what the hell is it ???????

I thought a 998 Cooper had a 1"3/4 su. Carb.
