- Continuing my most successful video "The poor man's OP1 for Casio VL-1 and Monome Norns", I thought about making a new try with a different setup. This time using the new Dirtywave M8 Tracker and (again) a Casio VL-1. This is just for fun, don't take it too much seriously. I have never owned or played a Teenage Engineering OP-1, but it sure is a very fun and powerful machine I would love to try.
From the Casio, you can hear Piano, Fantasy and Flute (in order of appearance). Dirtywave M8 Tracker is my new little machine, also portable as the OP1 and very powerful with FM synthesis, virtual analog and samples. M8 does all the sequencing with parameter locks, probabilities, randomness,...

I think the M8 is better than an OP1. Midi control with a Keystep or similar and you're good to go. Sequence other synths(midi out). That Casio sounded great with it. Nicely done. Subbed.
I have never owned an OP1, so I cannot really know how it is working with it. What I can say to you is that I love my M8, and it's a pleasure to work with.

I really enjoyed that little diddy. Reminded me of early Nintendo Game Boys soundtracks, except much better. Yep, would be nice to have a OP1, but the cost is prohibitive. Love your channel!!!

😃 The Casio is doing the melodies and a little comp with a piano sound. The rest is from the M8 (almost everything)

I found a cheap working vl1 but I'm super new to this. Can I just plug the synth to my pc and use a software to start making my own sounds? Sorry for the newb question
Hi! There is no software to control the VL1 as the VL1 has no MIDI or USB connection. But there is a rudimentary way to create synth sounds: Set the mode selector to CAL, set the sound selector to ADSR, press the MC key, press a 8 digits sequence, press the M+ key, set the mode selector to PLAY or REC
@@jlamores i also found a sa1 100 sound tone bank, do you know anything about those? Could I use a software or midi for that?
