    do you think I could use this comboor fishing in open saltwater/ in beach areas

    • @hookreelfishing
      @hookreelfishing  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'd say as long as you don't hook into anything too big, you should be fine. If you do, you'll be making some on the fly drag adjustments. Really, when it comes to saltwater, I prefer to go way over sized just to be safe...the ocean is like a box of chocolates. Granted, I don't have much saltwater experience.

      @@hookreelfishing Have you fished a kastking demon elite spining reel? That is what i paired with this rod with 12 lb powerpro. Hoping for pretty good results.

      I have not. It looks pretty good. Let us know which one you like best.

    What does the little switch do on the front of the reel?

    • @hookreelfishing
      @hookreelfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's for the reverse. In position one, you can only reel line in. Flip the switch the other way and you can reel line in or out.

    What bait is on the thumbnail

    • @hookreelfishing
      @hookreelfishing  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That bait is the Angling A.I. 4 inch open pour mold, that I hand poured just for that thumbnail. If you flip down the shorts section, I did a video and you can get a little bit of a better look at it.

    How do I make the reel cast lighter lures

    • @hookreelfishing
      @hookreelfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question and thanks for watching. You can only get so much distance with light lures. Dropping down to 6, 8 or 10 lbs line should get you good distance... 6lbs going the furthest.

    • @doctordrommos6432

      You can also open the drag up a bit

    • @hookreelfishing
      @hookreelfishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great advice!! Also, open up the spool tension a bit. But be careful with these adjustments. They are a one-way ticket to Backlashville. If possible, use a spinning reel setup with big guide eyes for less line drag, alone with the lightest line you can get away with. Make sure the spool is completely full of line. That will ensure your first 10 feet or so will come off with near zero spool drag.

    What line do you recommend?

      I use 12 pound fluorocarbon on mime. Works well for Texas Rig to Dropshot. Thanks for watching!!
