Put an early non pollution Quadrajet with Performance secondary metering rods on it guy’s, there’s a lot of rods to select from, don’t use a aluminium spacer, go bakelite, lock tight the 2 base plate bolts if your adapter doesn’t have the two moulded sections for those bolts, and remove 1/2 an inch on the centre dividing sections on the manifold, and use a 4 inch drop down K&N air filter with the air filter lid, this helps the q Jet from massive turbulence and will not rob fuel from the Primary’s and make the secondary’s give you maximum mixture for maximum performance, and make sure you use the hi flow needle and seat, that has the 2 quick fuel exit slots. And a brass float, on a mild mighty 308 start of with 68 primary jets, and to you haters ask Ian Tate, aka God how well a Quadrajet works. And it even gives you awesome fuel economy while you’re just cruising around. And when you pull up at your favourite kebab shop no one standing near this Jem is going to be balling their eyes out from the Holley tear jerka✌️
@@kingtube69 yeh this supercharged Wagon we have been building has been killing is all year. Have had no time for editing. Hopefully start getting a bit more out now!
Older Holley carbs had a better transfer slot which made them better down low on the transition to wide open throttle . Later carbs especially Quickfuel / Brawler based had a wider tranfer slot so you need to lean it out and you can do that by putting a restrictor in the main body that feeds the transfer slot . You can also cut the devider down in the manifold to make it more like open single plain manifold
@@BoostGumps Its a balancing act , Idel jets , Idel air bleeds , Transfer slots , Power valve . You get them all cleaned up and the thing will be great .
Good job, they’re light cars. It’ll be so much better than standard. Definitely need to change the Diff ratio, maybe to a 3.36 or 3.45, with the T400 transmission. Good all round ratios for the street.
I'd be so curious if those carbs you were seeing the issues on the dual plane had annular boosters instead of the old school standard boosters. What you're seeing would make sense if the booster signal was a lot higher. I also remember reading high velocity sometimes would pull some fuel out of the squirters causing a rich condition at WOT (but rarely an issue because of the check valve below + a lot of people that notice that just end up with the anti pullover style that Holley made for the spreadbore versions of their carbs).
yeh u could have ran a 750 dp on it basically making the its a 375/375 daul plane carb 650 be mint. your ideas thoughts are completely correct. u need to run the vacuum gauge for power valve under throttle plate vacuum so when vacuum drops at when opening throttle body plates the power valve spring over comes the lack of vacuum ,opening and letting more fuel in the boosters 99% of the time thats for cruising and fuel economy, at wide open u will get a big vacuum loss and will just open via spring pressure at whatever it was set to. u could try position 2 accel cam position on lower vacuum big cam cars usaully single plan thing with lower vacuum on idle big cam. so the power valve works in a window of the engines operational vacuum window every engine different. too much fuel at wide open means the vacuum has dropped and the spring has openned the power valve feeding boosters extra fuel. so u should be going lower power valve numbers so the vacuum hold the power valve closed longer till vacuum drops below said number then lets more fuel in. usually holley's are 6.5 inHg whatever the vacuum is id try 3.5 it will visaully be a lighter looking spring so the vacuum can keep it closed longer on WOD, leaning the wide open till it drops below 3.5 inHg and starts to open. then adding fuel if u get me... also set the idle slot of the carby of the car to be a sqaure under the throttle plate then adjust the 4 corner idles evenly to best idle and vacuum 1.5 turns is standard start spot .can be shit time on daul plan u may have to drill throttle plates on primary side to get idle up without hurting the base setting of your throttle plates/sqaure to add air to get idle up they usually have stamps on the plates if not u normally drill in front of the idle transfer slot side more to the middle on throttle plates to help atomise the fuel out of the idle transfer slot. u can also open the secondarys idle pos a smidge and it will vary on engines some times work some times not. there is alot of fun to be had with a holley u can free power up and drive ability up with the crew driver
because its auto aswell u can probably lock the timing out to up the idle and get a better idle burn , in turn over loaded up more under cranking to start engine. it will base idle higher and clean plugs ups with better combustion timing , most 308s run 26 degrees all in
