Ayeee, my Fateless crew!! Thank you so much for having me on for the chat. Very proud to be a part of this team.
Ash is such a whale but I love him as a person. He's just so charismatic. 💜
Big fan of him here as well. Such a cool dude overall.
Love these roundtables. 100% love for you all, but ASH is amazing
Thanks man, appreciate the kind words 🥰
This will be the first game that starts with an established community instead of developing one after the game is created. Well I have yet to see. Definitely looking forward to it.
Right on point there. It's a pretty unique combo and very exciting to see what future holds.
Ash/Tim is a great bloke great asset to the team
Just a little bit longer!
Really looking forward to the finished product. You have the big advantage of profoundly knowing the kind of game you're making from a player perspective. It'll be very important to keep that perspective to a certain degree instead of just adopting the company POV. The best way to keep successful is to know what your customers want.
It's funny...I am one of the main coaches for a grouping of about 4 clans in raid and have a lot of fun helping other players progress but really focus on helping them build up successful Hydra teams. I had just written in the Discord while watching that I was looking forward to your game and had been toying with the idea of stepping into the realm of content creation for it. Shortly after that Ash talked about his desire to see people who have never considered that before stepping into CC for this game. Good luck everyone! I eagerly await and am aiming to get active in the Discord. Thanks for all you are doing to make your passions a reality for everyone!
Thanks Charle! Every content creator out there starts from nothing and as long as you have fun doing it, it's always worth it. If you're good at it (and a bit lucky) then it can spiral into something really insane.
Almost turned into Ash diaries this podcast lol ...... Lets gooo Fateless 🔥
Ash diaries hmm wonder if there's space for that 😂
the speed of progress shows the value each of the team brings to the table. getting to watch all of this develop has me so excited to see it develop. i wish i was the janitor on the team just to clean up after you all. you are killing it. keep it up! great video!
Thanks for the kind words Ced, it really is a great team to work with
I'm so hyped for this game! All my favorite content creators making a game!
Thanks man we're hyped too 🥰. It's a pretty solid bunch even if I saw so myself.
Total agreement about bad things snowballing when there is little communication afterwards.
I fly for an airline and set a timer every time I tell passengers about a delay. When that time is up, I tell them the new information or lack there of while setting the timer again. That's after seeing how unhappy people get when left to stew.
That's a great system to have. It really makes you feel appreciated when it's not just the good news being shared, but rather being kept informed through the not so pleasant times as well.
What i love about ash is he feels super authentic always. Glad to see you here !
Appreciate the kind words! Guy's super wholesome on and off camera and very upbeat.
Great to finally see and hear from Tim aka Ash on the podcast. His view from the marketing perspective will be invaluable to the Fateless team, I have no doubt. Great podcast as usual. However, I heard one very, very alarming thing from Sham. He said, "This is not a single player game. You can play it single player right? But..." The crux of what he said was that it's going to be clan (multiplayer) goal driven. That is a very scary thought to me personally.
Any game that is not 100% solo playable, is a limited game. 8 billion people on earth, lets say half are of an age to play games, all of those can play solo, a few hundred thousand will want to be hardcore enough, and have the time to play with others all the time. Any business that sells a product will tell you that you need to set up where there is the greatest footfall for passing trade, but what keeps your business going is returning customers. Clan/guild orientated games end up being Whale/Kraken fests with high pressure to perform, be there, and spend lots of money to be at, and stay the top.
RAID is such a game with the CvC/arena side of it, but it can in all other ways be played solo. These days, and especially for any game marketing itself as a mobile game, it has to be casual based, or you get yourself a full blown made for PC/console game, and that means 100% solo, with a social element for that 15-25% hard core players that have all day, every day to play. I hope this was a misspeak, and not the actual structure of the game, where playing solo means you are punished for not either wanting to be in a clan, or be able to commit the time required to be in a clan to attain everything in the game at the same pace as a group/clan/guild, according to RL commitments. If that is the structure, then I'm out before it goes another step, because I'm a carer to an autistic child, and I simply play as I can, and that's my RL, so I'll just continue to play Raid, or it's ilk instead, and that's a shame, because Paylarium sucks as a company, and your game will quickly suck as a game for everyone not in that clan/guild driven mentality, or simply don't have the time and money to spend to compete.
It’s an interesting take. Clash of Clans as an example is one of the most successful games ever on mobile and the crux is it’s based on being part of a clan.
@@FatelessGames Yes it is a very successful game... Why? because everyone knows that's it's WHOLE basis and only those who want to do that sort of game play it and is filled with the young with lots of time on there hands. Do you still play it? I doubt it. What is your demographic, not a youth lol. There is no problem with having clans/guilds as a big part of a game. I played both LOTRO and ESO for over 10 years each where clans were a big part of it. However, 95% of the content was solo with 5% that really could not be done without a raiding party for some instances.
That is fine and I was a big part of that. However, the games were successful because you played them solo, or with company as your saw fit, and the days where I had 6-8 hours to sit and play are long gone. If you create a game where the emphasis is group play, then you automatically create a 2 tier system built right into the game. Those with time and money, and those who don't have either time and/or money where everyone gravitates to one or the other and with those in the latter leaving the game because you cannot/will not compete with the former and those in the top clans constantly under pressure to either perform and/or spend to stay in them as I already mentioned.
Either way, it's a recipe that people like myself, and am I gamer of 40 years, don't want any more. We want the social aspect, but we want it to be sociable, not pressurised. It's simply a recipe for quick turnover, instead of stability. It will be divisive imo not collective/inclusive as you want. Those you need to be targeting are those who will stick with a game and that's not the young. They skitter from game to game with the attention span of a gold fish. The mature have the money to spend, but lack the time to do so, so finding the balance between these two elements is key if you want to create a game that lasts. The young have the time, but often lack the money, or would rather spend it elsewhere.
Clash of Clans had a massive turnover of players, myself, and my circle of friends included, except for 2 of the 28 of us. One played for about a year and the other got caught up in it for 2 years and almost lost his partner because the clan he joined after our own one closed became more important than her. It was also new to the mobile genre when it hit the market, so there was nothing really like it out there before, so novelty factor played a huge part. These games are a dime a dozen now, and how many of the modern versions do anything at all these days?
Looking at a singular game's success, also needs to be looked at in the environment it established itself and what is the environment now. For every Clash of Clans, there are 100+ of their ilk that died flat on their face. If you go CoC way, then this will die on it's face too, as none of my many gaming friends, and I have collected a lot over 30 years of playing these games have the time or the inclination to do that sort of game anymore. Most have money to spend, they just want somewhere to spend it.
Raid has 2 massive advantages and is why so many people of my generation play it. It was graphically outstanding for a mobile game, (and still is) and it is 100% a solo game. The most friction in game is between clans, which should give you some idea as to why going that route is a terrible idea in itself to have that it's main focus. I'm the only one still playing Raid from my circle of friends and that's due to the fact I don't suffer from fomo, so I can play as I choose to, and all my friends detest the greedy, aggressive monetisation by Paylarium, as do I. Our clan crashed with the release of mythicals as that was the last straw for most and they are waiting for the old days in mobile form where you played the game solo, and joined up for a few instances, but like with LOTRO, you could be connected at the same time for the social part of live talking, strategizing, and getting help when needed from your clan/friends.
That's the way forward in mobile gaming. Bring that system from pc to mobile, with 90-95% solo playability at least with the ability to be live with your guild/clan/friends at the same time. That is what is lacking in mobile games, and that was/is a winning formula in pc games. We are gamers, we are social, but we don't want a game where you can only game in a group. Look at the genre you are in and tell me how many of the top 50-100 are group orientated, and how many are mostly, if not completely solo, and how many are completely group orientated and that's your answer. I guarantee that there will be no more than 5-10 in the latter category, there is a reason why, and I just told you.
Really cool that you guys are on this project together, I have been following all of you on TH-cam for like 5 years. I appreciate the positive attitude, I plan to download Fateless the first day it comes out.
Thanks for sticking with us, means a lot 🥰. Positivity is so much easier, negativity is exhausting.
The fact that we get insights to the people behind the CC's are what is great for me. And that they understand what players want.
Appreciate the kind words Darth 🥰. We wouldn't be here without the community so we'll keep listening.
@@FatelessGames that is all players want. Can't please everyone, but if you can target 90-95% player satisfaction(maybe high). Players will enjoy the game, plus for me that the game has to do with Gods(I love God of War) is a big win for me. Will give up WoR for this game.
The gods and legends really work well! Gives us so much room to work with.
I think a cool community feature in the game would be the ability to trade champions within a clan. Being able to help each other out with champs that aren't being used by someone but may really help another player.
You should hop over to our discord, we've talked about that a bit. discord.gg/fateless
beautiful beginnings of a start up that already has such a strong community and vision - personally I dont have time to do clan stuff but like community interactions on how to improve the game by discord is very enjoyable.
Thanks man! There's certainly some players that can't dedicate time for clans and we get that. It's a balancing act to provide enough to those who like the co-op playstyle whilst not making it feel forced to those who don't.
Love these inside looks. You guys are awesome!
Thanks wookiee, right back at ya 😎
As gaming studio is great that you are building a great huge Community even before you deliver your game, that can give longevity to the project. all the sharing that is been done even if just bit's of the Huge Giga project that goes behind scenes. Is also a great resposability or presuare for the team as dev. In general is been a great journey and i am hoping to see what is new and what would be thus elemets that will seperate this game from what we already have or what will be coming before or as competition. so Cheer's and keep it up.
Thanks Javier, appreciate the kind words. There will be lots more to come for sure the further we get. Some game elements are very unique to the genre so it'll be very exciting once we get to share those
Simon is 100% right. I’m an old wow player who’s searching for that feeling again
It's hard to replicate, but maybe one day we can deliver that feeling for the next generation. How cool would that be?
Ash is so cool!
Really refreshing chats, and love the honest content. keep up the great work folks, though simon needs to swat up on whos in what faction in raid! :P
Thank you! Need to do some homework on that yeah 🤔
I first came across ashs content through clash royale and hes actually the reason I got into raid. So thank you Ash for the X amount of money ive now spent on raid 😅
funny how clash of clashs in mentinoed but never heard of it in my part of the world til you guys mentioned it
Wow where are you from? Has to be one of the biggest most played mobile games of all time
Forget just fatless podcast this is one of the best podcasts I have listened to period in a while. Great podcast today.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I really hope that FATELESS and the role that Simon plays that they definitely play. Some form of Simon says or develop something off of the podcast or a TH-cam segment playlist something like that that has Simon says.
Ok Ash, maybe I will become a content creator for Fateless. You’ll just have to wait and see 😜
😎Looking forward to it.
So proud of all you guys! Keep up all the great work. 💪🏻
Thank you, appreciate it. Will do 🥰
"Ash, can you sum up what you do in 30 secs?" 3 hours later 😂
30 seconds 3 hours, there's a 3 in both right?
So excited for this game and the talks of game modes that are great for streams and content is very exciting for people like me who enjoy making videos
Looking forward to seeing your vids on the game 🥰
18:40 i so love simons take. so many games nowadays go back to singleplayer games. the best thing about gaming has always been being online with other people to play with and play against and i really dont understand the slow shift in this day and age to go back to giga small groups of players or even singleplayer
It really does feels different when you log on with mates to play and have a good time. What's your favorite multiplayer?
@@FatelessGames if u mean in term of games: league just because i so love it to play against 5 new people every game either alone or with some friends. and back in the day i played metin 2 and eden eternal. both lesser known games but since then i was set on my preference to play games with other people online. im a competitve player and nothing beats competing against other people and bring out the best in each other so to say
Word
Awesome podcast guys
Thanks Stevie!
You guys touched on something this week which is the most important thing IMO. You stated your primary objective is to create a great game. Don’t stress about how fair or unfair your monetization model is. If the game is good, people will play it.
Fun first, rest will follow.
Do you think selling champs will be one of your monetization strategies? Like Eona in wor?
Can't really go into details on that one, but you should drop ideas about it on our discord if you want discord.gg/fateless
🥰
❤
🥰
i hope fateless has tradeable transmog
You mean like a character skin or something else?
Ash’s name is Tim?!
That's correct!
I told myself I wouldn't play gacha games anymore after being done with Raid - whenever that happens 😅, because combined with predatory business model really makes it one of the worst kinds of games out there.
I really like you guys though and I definitely hope you succeed making a good and balanced out game monetisation wise, so I'll at least give it a try whenever it's out.
Just don't make "books" obtainable amd I'd be happy
Did you mean unobtainable? Because if not, that's the first time I've heard anyone say that 🤔
