I’m an Italian native speaker and self-taught. I always struggled to find the right way to use GET and GOT. In some ways, in that, I’ve been lucky because I always tried to find alternatives to GET and GOT and since I use a lot of synonyms in my native language, I translated them in English and GOT good results. However I always wanted to learn the right use of them. I still have so many things to learn. I’ve just discovered your channel and I am totally in awe in front of your teaching capabilities. I could avoid the use of subtitles, I get everything you say and your examples are clear, simple and efficacious. Thank you, Sir. You are a hell of a teacher! :)
This is the best explained "get" ever. Teachers of English in schools generally did not teach about the use of the word "get", which later created numerous problems for the learners, who were confused with an incredible amount of use of the word "get" by the native English speakers.
I am an Spanish and Portuguese native speaker (I was raised in the border between South Brazil and North Uruguay). I love the way you teach. In fact, you are the most fantastic teacher of English that I ever meet in my life. Thank you for so much!.
Get is the most frequently used word in English. I see no difficulties. There are others. Thanks. You are fairly well-spoken. Knowledgeable. I have used the language with native speakers all of my life.
That's a brilliant lesson again, cheers! I understood all these forms of "get" before, but now I have a neat and tidy chart on a piece of paper and it's all become a lot clearer. I always wondered about where "gotten" fits in, for example. Now I know! I remember our lessons at school 40+ years back when all the teachers used to say: "Remember, don't write your test papers in go-get-give style, use proper English!" These teachers joked: "I become a beefsteak." ... because it's a common mistake made by German learners of English as the German "bekommen" means "to receive". And our English teachers said "pArticiple" instead of "partIciple" (with the stress on the first syllable).
Dear teacher, I spent the whole day watching this video. Finally, I got it along and reported all the vocabulary terms with their meanings on my mobile phone. Tomorrow I will watch the second video you uploaded.
honestly I prefer american english because the accent sounds better in my ear and easier to understand, but when I hear yours, it's clear and I like your accent, and because the content is great i subscribed this channel.
I gotta say TH-cam have got some of the best teachers as u. Now I'm getting English quite well... thaaanks for taking Ur time to teach foreigner your language🎉🎉🌹🌹🌹💐🌹💐💐💐💐🌼🌸
In short you can get by just by getting what is "get" and instantly get fluent because "get" can get you through so much situations when other words don't want to get out of your mouth. Got it?
I'm so thankful to you....you are teaching in an exellant way...I repeat your videos many time ..recorded them hearing them all the time..you are a great teacher
As a native English speaker, I was taught that using "got" is often sloppy, so I am careful to limit its usage. But then, I don't mind sounding educated, and most people were never taught this, so they have no idea. I'm glad you covered the issue somewhat in your last example.
Hello I think you could add the verb To Get as a causative , like to make and to have . They will get him to work for them for nothing...to get + to + infinitive
Nice to see the alternatives to "get" in the second story, but surely you can't replace "get up" here with "wake up"? The person getting angry at the early phone call implies that they were already awake when they took the action described by "So I got up". If you really wanted to replace it I think it would have to be something like "So I arose and answered the phone"
I came across your channel while searching a movie clip. You've made useful and practical english lessons that are relevant to real english usage, unlike other channels; full of laughs and jokes. I felt like i had wasted time watching english tutors who crack jokes all the time.
The best lesson on 'get'... First time I got so many meanings of 'get' in a single lecture... Now, I would try to get all these by all means... ( I hope I got it right)...🤭
Great lesson with clear explanations. It's simple, funny and efficient. Bravo ! However, there's another verb as confusing as "to get" which is the verb "to draw". It has plenty of different meanings according to the context in which it is used. But, curiously enough I've seen no lesson about it on TH-cam so far. I think it would be very interesting and helpfull to make a video on this verb.
example with cannibals just caused that I jumped out of my shoes, if Monty Python was still acting they could feel threatened, and by the way, you do a great job, every time I have a dim and temporary discouragement to learn English I watch some of your films and it goes away. I wish I had such a wonderful teacher at school. Thanks a lot!
I like your lessons very much, and each time I tune in, I learn a lot. But at the same time I'm wondering if you would lower the sound of the music in-between lessons; I'm afraid the people sitting beside me get a bit upset whenever the loud music is playing.
You have a tipical, english, sense of humour. I love your lesson and, especially, I have enjoyed this subject matter, but do you think the use of "get" is overworked? Italians use "Fare" (to do) to indicate a several action, however it's a hasty employment because every action have a proper verb...

'the expedition ended badly, when he got eaten by cannibals' lol
I don't understand why this is a BAD ending for the expedition. Isn't it nice to end an expedition with a tasty meal?
Dear teacher, I spent the whole day watching this video. Finally, I got it along and reported all the vocabulary terms with their meanings on my mobile phone. Tomorrow I will watch the second video you uploaded.
