i know mvs can be interpreted differently but i took it as a message of being your own angel. only you know the hardships and pain that you go through. as hard as it is, sometimes you just have to remember to take care of yourself through the hardships and pain, even when it’s hard. as someone with anxiety and depression, this song feels like a warm hug and pinch of the cheek-a reminder that things will get better.

Lee Hi explained the MV on Ph-1 Seoul food Visual Radio:
She said the girl in the beginning in black and white dress (her current self) was making a bad decision (ending her life). So the angel version of herself goes back to the past to make good memories with the same girl (her younger self) in order to comfort her. So in the end her current self decides not to go through with it. So all 3 girls in the MV was actually her. She saved herself.

In my opinion, the meaning behind the music video is that every child or teenager who suffers, has an angel taking care of them. This angel is the adult version of themselves. It's them but adults. We can't see them but they are next to us holding our hand and telling us it's going to be okay. Just like the scene where Lee-Hi sits next to the little girl, the adult version of every child/teenager who suffers is right beside them keeping them company whether it is a sleepless night or a very bad day. Thank you Lee-Hi for another masterpiece. You truly inspire the world.

I remember when the summer this song came out. I went straight to TH-cam and checked out the MV. And after that, I was obsessed with this song. I had it on every playlist and wrote down every piece of lyric. This song really resonated with me in a way that I can’t describe, but it leaves me warm. I can’t say things have gotten much better since this song come out and thins maybe have gotten worse in some ways. But the fact that I’m still here means that I haven’t given up and alone is enough for me to hope a little bit more. I usually read the lyrics to this song during hard nights and let it comfort me. I hope one day I will look back at this song and feel proud over myself that I’ve overcame the hardships. I’ve considered jumping off my life, but I feel a strange fondness over my body and my life. As scarred as they are, they’re still mine.

But I think you have to be able to take a step back from yourself in order to determine what you want and don't want anymore. The hardest part comes afterwards when you have to make decisions and act. You have to know that whatever your decision, you will always be criticized. But that's okay. As long as you feel better, that's the main thing. That's how you accept yourself, that's how you realize the people who will support you and who love you just the way you are. You have to listen to your heart and say when it's going and when it is not going. You have to be honest with yourself.
It's a good thing to write about your future. It shows the future she would want.

I really feel depressed this past few weeks but Lee Hi told me that "I'm too precious to sit around and worry"
MV Explanation/Theory:
Holo 홀로 means alone in korean. MV begins featuring a girl in blue/black (Hayi) looking out in the night. Then when the sky brightens, the girl in blue (representing depression/loneliness) dangles her feet over the edge of the building as if she’s contemplating jumping. Hayi in white (morning/hope) sings that loneliness feels the same with or without company, then she leans against the girl dressed in blue and pats her back @0:47 reassuring her that “one day it will stop.”
Then we see a cartoon on TV with the lyrics “isn’t everything supposed to happen as it’s said or thought,” almost as if her childhood self naively believed this to be true. She's so lonely that she can’t even enjoy the simple pleasures of “basking in the sunlight,” and “not even a deep breath” (ref to her song Breathe) can make things better. Then we see a young girl (her childhood self) lying in bed, and a hand belonging to angel Hayi reaching out to her @1:11 with the same lyrics “one day it will stop.” The tempo picks up at the same time a there's lyrical shift from the earlier melancholy tone to Hayi deciding she'll "stop crying, stop feeling, stop thinking about you."
Hayi runs and plays with the child as she sings she’ll start to take care of herself more. After countless of sleepless nights, she finally understands that she’s “too precious to sit around and worry” about how she compares with others: “It’s okay to be yourself.” The MV plays with altitude/elevation with Hayi diving into the water towards the child (*blue* swimsuit), as she’s searching within herself and when she climbs the staircase representing personal growth. It seems as if Hayi has found herself and she no longer wants to end everything, whether by drowning or jumping, anymore.
Then Hayi and the girl are enjoying themselves again in the sunlight, something that didn’t make her feel better before. She keeps on spinning (playground, rooftop) because her thoughts are cluttering her mind but “*I’m* going to stop.” Hayi stands still. She questions if being alone and staying still is that difficult? One day it will stop and the camera pans to a bright sunny day. Essentially Holo touches on our feelings of loneliness and societal pressures, but through this song, Hayi asks us to look within and accept ourselves. To give ourselves hope and comfort to continue on. You are your own hero, savior, and angel. This is evident as the MV purposefully chooses to only feature Hayi as she's the child, the lonely girl in blue, girl in white, and angel. It’s a perfect sequel to “Breathe” and notice how both MVs have Hayi standing on top of buildings looking out on the Seoul skyline.

Additional details after rewatching: The cartoon from @1:00 to @1:05 features a fairy godmother granting a chipmunk's wish for wings. Immediately after, Hayi approaches the child in bed as a guardian angel herself. But @2:37 the chipmunk is crying. The wings granted to him by an outside entity (the fairy godmother) didn't make him any happier. This reinforces the message of looking within and accepting yourself. Last, it's possible that adult Hayi in blue actually did jump based on the feather floating from the sky @ the beginning and end of the MV, and from the sirens at the beginning. Potentially, she could have jumped and returned to her childhood self as an angel to pull her out of depression and prevent her adult self from taking such drastic measures. Contrast child Hayi in blue sinking in the pool to adult Hayi in white @3:28 floating. Hayi is also constantly spinning, as if mimicking the turning back of time. Either way, the message still holds true. 💕(Sorry it's so long! If you made it until the end, you're a real trooper!)

I used to listen to this song nonstop when i was going through depression, anxiety and more issues two years ago the line "One day it will stop and I'm gonna stop cryin', stop feelin' , Stop thinkin' 'bout you my babe" i used to say it again and again but now after those dark era i am fine i am better i am happy then ever the world is still a lil dark but dark how it was not on verge of ending everything i am proud of my old self and i finally did stop crying and stop feeling and stopped thinking about that shit

I just noticed these details:
At the very beginning Lee Hi is at the edge and the siren in the background is the sound of the paramedics, probably to save her from a suicide attempt.
So Lee Hi goes back to her childhood and meets her younger self and basically tells her that it will stop and that the things do get better. To love and value herself more. She is her own saviour, her own angel. And so at the end though her problems may still be there, she assures herself that it will end one day, that nothing is forever- not even the pains and the heartbreaks.

This is such a beautiful song and I can relate to it so much. I had such a hard time, fighting my own demons and struggling to find meaning in life. I always used to wonder if those thoughts and the hard times would even have an end like other people said. I thought it wouldn't end just for me. That the pain was forever.
But I fought through it and sometimes talked it out with friends, mostly wrote my feelings down and just focused on healing myself and I can now say that IT DOES GET BETTER. That those horribly dark days do have an end and sunshine will once again touch our lives.
It may get hard again in the future as that is just how life is, but this time I know it with all my heart that it does get better and it does end. I hope everyone will overcome their own demons too one day.

Lee Hi: Personally, when I thought about this song, it comforted my mind. When I was singing it, I was hoping it could comfort people going through a lot of things. It’s chaotic lately, you know? She is Lee Hi, one of the best voice in k-pop.
She debuted under YG in 2012 with 1,2,3,4 and she was called The Monster Rookie.
In 2016 her song Breath by K-pop is Angel: Jonghyun won the Digital Bonsang at Golden Disk, she was crying on stage because her friend passed away. YG left her in the past and didnt try to give her a new chance.
In 2019 she drop No one with Hanbin and she won 2 awards with this song, after hanbin's scandal she promoted alone, she was alone again.
She was alone because Jeonghyun passed away, she was alone because 2NE1 was disbanding and Bom left YG, they were a sub-unit, she was alone because her company forgot her, she was alone again because Hanbin left her because of scandal. Hanbin promised to promoting together .. She left YG in december after CL, she did right.

At the end of the mv, a single white feather means that a spirit from beyond is watching over you or that the person who is passed on is nearby. It also could mean that everything will be okay even tho it may not seem like it at the moment. I have a feeling the feather might be alluding to the passing of Jonghyun since Lee hi held him very close to her heart.

The one in the black dress which I see as the ‘alive’ her and the white dress which is like the angel her and it could be talking about how she felt before in her life? I actually think the feather symbolizes her in the beginning it is shown how the feather is still flying (her jumping of that building) but before she jumps she thinks back to when she was a (sad) young girl so she "sings to her past self" that one day she is gonna stop crying feeling and thinking because she has died and in the end the feather symbolizes how she felt and landed but jeah it is also just a speculation of mine

I actually thought she was an angel who looked after and tried to comfort the little girl and when the girl was about to drown she saved her, or at least help to move her into a happier place. And like, she would have wanted someone to sing to her like so that maybe she wouldn't have jumped and instead was dancing on the roof because she a little bit happier now? Idk I just feel the mv shouldn't be sad but comforting but of course everyone is entitled to there own feelings :)

My theory of this perfect MV looks like this:Lee hi is an angel who protects a girl but not just any girl, this girl is Lee Hi when she was younger, in the scene where the girl throws herself into the water, she was trying to dr0wn, in the end, Lee Hi appears floating in the water showing just that. When she was younger in mv history, she tried to dr0wn but was saved by herself that when she became an angel she went back in time to save herself.
This mv and this song are very exciting, Lee Hi is always amazing
At the very first frame of the MV, we also can see lee hi's feet "floating" as if she's gonna jump off the building, but after the self-healing journey throughout the MV, in the end, we can see her feet is touching the grounds again 😭
