I guarantee that Rick’s videos generate revenue to the copyright holders, because many of the songs and albums are not know by a huge number of people. I bet many new fans are generated by such videos. It’s free advertising for those artists!

Thank you for this. Sometimes I think Rick lets some of his attention and fame get to his head that he is beginning to lose perspective what is fair and not because sometimes he does push things a bit far in those clips he plays back because he is not a fan of doing the "WHat makes this song great" segments for awhile

Thank you kindly. I think most of his videos are fair use, but not some for sure. In general, I think these guys should push back more when they are clearly in the right.

@@LawLaughsMusic I hate to argue with a lawyer, I have never met, but when I asked a friend who just passed the bar for law relating to entertainment before I posted on TH-cam, she narrowed it down to 'If you aren't the copyright holder, don't do it'.
Fair Use for Teaching Purposes is for, well, teaching purposes by educators (ie. real teachers). Dissecting a Led Zeppelin riff for a 'What Makes This Song Great' video is *not* being used to 'teach' anyone who watches it on his channel (especially when his biggest excuse is that 'People aren't going to know about Led Zeppelin if I don't make these videos'.
My main issue with him are his claims not to know how TH-cam works, especially with regards to copyrighted material. On a video a few years age, he claimed he didn't know how to dispute a copyright claim. I googled and found a phone number for TH-cam in seconds, but Rick, with all his resources couldn't or wouldn't.
The guy owns his own studio, as produced at least one Number One album worked with other musicians, producers, lawyers, managers and so on is here on TH-cam acting like a teenager using his parents' TH-cam account instead of a 62 year-old man who has been involved in the music industry for decades.
