Today, we travel to a stunning location, rejoicing in both mountain and sea air.
Within a medieval deer park, a grand Georgian manor house is perched in front of a rugged backdrop of mountains and forests.
Within the park are two tranquil lakes and rivers and acres of ancient woodland.
A prominent and successful family chose this stunning vista for their family home in 1788, it was completed by 1796, built with local dark grey stone and slate.
The manor was extended largely in 1805, two large wings were added on either side.
Remnants of the squash court, ponds and ornamental garden can still be found today.
The whole extension was later demolished, reverting the manor back to its original rectangle shape.
It passed through a number of wealthy hands over the years and the impressive interior, is now completely bare, a shell of its former self.
The most recent owner received approval to redevelop the manor to match its former self but this was left uncompleted, abandoning it in a sorry state…
The original grand staircase reaches up to the third floor, beautiful iron balusters and a mahogany hand rail remain.
Much of what was once here has now faded and disappeared, but the manor remains, surrounded by the blissful scenery, 225 years later.

What a daunting task to rebuild! Sad someone failed, you can see they tried. The existing details are true craft!! That staircase!💕 Glad you took the time to hunt out and capture the beauty left and those hints of the past.💖💖
What a shame that the restoration was never completed on this once magnificent mansion. The scenery there is stunning. It’s so sad to see this building abandoned and unloved. Another great explore guys.

It's 99F today in San Leandro, California, USA. Judging by Sam's coat, it wasn't roasting at the manor house that day. When I close my eyes, I can smell the Welsh mountain air and feel the icy breeze on my face, ahhhh. ❤
Absolutely phenomenal property!!! I loved it ❤️ I hope someone with a gazillion dollars, buys this property & restores it to the original, or as close to the original property as they can!!! It is wonderful that sooo many of the original features in this home were saved! Before reusing them, I’m sure they will need to be restored as well! I would not have framed over the fireplaces, arched doorways or stone walls! I would have left them the way that they were! Gorgeous scenery!!! Sam & Jess, I would love to see you guys get this place, move in & restore it 👍 You could live “ happily ever after” there❤️ It is built very structurally sound! Sad that there was a fire there!!! The staircase & banister were epic!!! Thank you for sharing this wonderful adventure with us! I truly loved it ❤️❤️❤️

Beautiful Wales again, just love it. I felt such a strange connection to this house as you walked up the path towards it and so gutted to see that it had been fire damaged. One of my favourite features of Georgian houses are the beautiful, huge windows and this building has plenty of them. I too would love to have seen this place in all its former glory. Great job, lovely film and now to be totally freaked out by the lovely Karl and all of you on Dark Arts….. my favourite way to investigate any property combining your two, very different approaches… happy sigh 🥰

I just watched another of my favorite people who get great videos for us. They were at this exact spot not more than a week ago and the owner has done some awesome work. From the moldings, to bits and pieces of walls being reconstructed. Its doing along quite well. He made it to a room that a bird was trapped in and proceeded to open a window just enough the bird escaped as he tried catching it.
Has Cawood started restoring the property? You mention that the owner has done some awesome work? Are they currently working on it, finally?
I have a feeling somebody that wasn't fully aware of the amount of restoration that would take place. A monumental job in itself, how sad it just sits there when somebody who does have the money could live there and bring it back to life. Thanks Sam and Jesse for always finding these incredibly lonely and empty homes for us.

I just love beautiful Wales!!! This house is absolutely beyond stunning was so fun to watch you go through and try to imagine what it was like so many years ago. So sad that it’s laying waste. I hope they are able to re- fund So they can continue to bring it back to life. Thank you so much Sam and Jess for bringing this to us. So majestic. And what a backdrop! Such a shame . Cost more to restore than it's probably worth. Thank you both for your insight. 👍. If you fell and hurt yourself doing what you're doing what's would stop you suing the owners as you didn't brake in as the entrance was open ? I've heard about this happening before. Just think the owners wouldn't be to happy , it's up to them to make sure the place was secured. Anyway keep up the good work .
I had a house fire that destroyed nearly everything a decade ago. The strangest things were spared - my grandmother's teacup, my dad's photo, but other things that you would think would be okay, like modern appliances, were destroyed. My antique furniture actually fared better than my modern furniture. I think it was because the wood was so dense - almost petrified - and that's what saved it. It's a shame that they were covering up that wonderful stonework with plaster, but that's probably close to how it was originally in some rooms. And that staircase is phenomenal! I love that you both have such respect for the beauty & dignity of these abandoned places.

The staircase lovely lot of work has gone into this,l not sure what they were going to to with the interior of the building but it now would make a brilliant hotel or luxury apartment's great to see some original fixtures, which they can put back in place hopefully someone will return this beautiful building back in use again before it starts to decay great explor thanks for sharing

a castle built for a Giant! Love the big grand doorways. That lumber and granite is worth some $, not sure if building supplies are as inflated there as they are here in the US, but that's quite a stash of supplies just sitting to rot. Sad. Gorgeous bones. And that cellar with the prison doors? WTActualF?! Looks like prisoner cells! Wild.

What caused the fire at this unique mansion and how long ago It's sad that the other buildings were destroyed. Can you imagine trying to heat it. I would think they would have had a fire place in every room if you have cold winters there. Thank you for your videos.. God bless and be safe. U. S.A.

Just missed the end of the comments live.... The tiny table with huge legs, would be the base for a huge table (circular to sit 10 or so) that had a removable top, the top was hopefully somewhere around still not damaged in the fire.

@@Samandjessexplore no problem. I grew up with a table like that, it had been inherited from my grandparents. Ours is at least 100years old now at a guess and going strong 🤔 furniture was built to last back then.

Our part of wales , northwales . you should vist Llandudno , conway , abergele , bangor , anglesea , holly head . oh yes and the slate moutains & mines . plenty to see in northwwales . we love southwales as well but northwales is near where we live and we live near chester as well , which is also a good place ro visit .
