Smash Box platform fighter guy here - it absolutely looked like too many buttons to me before I switched to it, but I can vouch both as somebody with not the best fingers and that has gone through a good few GCCs, that it's a game changer and I've never looked back 🙏 In case you didn't see, that Smash Box at 0:10 was a prototype, production model uses more ergonomic button placement, there's an additional one by each analog direction cluster and the whole thing is remappable with three onboard profiles both for layouts and modifier angles I've also got a Hit Box (Hit Box Arcade), but haven't done a whole lot with Rivals in it outside of trying out Dpad movement and the game's Walk/Run modifier briefly. This video's definitely inspired me to try more out! Subscribed and followed on Twitch ❤
idk which one to use yet! im so used with the normal controller but i do really like the leverless for traidtional fighting games so maybe ill commit! thanks for the sub and follow! i really appreciate that
@@Havokerino If it helps you any farther, I know a site known as Fightkeys that lets you customize a layout that might feel more comfortable to yourself; they have keyboard keys, sanwa-shaped buttons, etc.
@@heraclitu-s I got notified of your reply and don't see a reply of my own, really can't stand YT sometimes. I distinctly remember typing out about FightKeys, a site where I got my own type of b0xx lol
If you want a leverless with a smash layout, I'd recommend open source ones like the open frame1, GRAM slim, and the bubblebox. Anything built over the Haybox firmware has people who make specific layouts for their controllers with analog modifiers that work in rivals 2 specifically. So you'll get your tilts, crouching without falling through platforms, and even zetterburn up b angles and forsburn shortenable up b distances.
you can play pretty much everyone optimally with a leverless/keyboard controller besides zetterburn since he needs the 360 inputs of a stick for his up special
I dont think you need a Smash box, but a standard 12 button leverless won't work properly. I didn't try, but I feel a 16 button leverless like some Haute could work perfectly using a button as a Tilt/walk modifier
I use a leverless with a very similar layout (not a smash box layout). You have enough buttons for side tilts, I use the two buttons in the bottom right for left and right tilts. Lmk if you want help setting that up :)
glyph and gram baby. b0xx is nice but their support for rivals 2 is extremely lacking. and if rivals had soem better uptions for tilt modifiers none of this would be an issue, any leverless with enough buttons would be game. really odd choice for them to add a walk mod button, but not ones for tilts and wavedashes.
Dont use the smash box, try a Boxx or a Frame1. the Junkfood LBX is also pretty good but theyre impossible to get ahold of

Smash Box still sucks compared to B0XX or Frame1

ahhh i see thats pretty crazy i might just stick with ps5 but this is useful for people that wanna use their leverless so thank you!

There is a way to get the 360 movement it's just a whole mental shift to do it.
use wii nunchuk
there's a stick modifierbutton for doing tilts
i use a keyboard to play since i personally dont like the layouts used for the boxx like controllers

such a good layout i love the double thumb buttons at the bottom

How did you set that up? Did you use steam input?
Just queued against you in casuals but my controller wasn't working. We should actually play sometime.
