I just drove one home today. I’m super impressed with what I got for my dollar. For those who commented asking what the final price was, I paid just under $22k. But my wife is an insurance agent, so any of their extras they tried to sell us were denied by her, as nobody should buy shit like Gap insurance through the dealership, as it’s literally a tenth of the price if you do it through your local independent insurance agency. That said, I love the car

The 2024 Jetta had "variable assist" steering. It's lighter at low speed and heavier at high speed. I assume that's also true of the 2025. You should've talked about this when you said the steering is light, and you should've tested it on the highway at a different time of day.
For those who don't know, the other type of adaptive steering is "variable ratio". If you turn your steering wheel 90 degrees (or however many degrees) left or right, your front wheels will turn more at low speed and less at high speed.
Variable assist steering feels more sporty and stable at high speed.
Variable ratio steering is easier for the average non-enthusiast to drive and is usually cheaper.

I just sold my 2017 Jetta four months ago and I’m now riding the bus for the time being. It was the absolute worst money pit ever. 👎👎👎
I’ve purchased numerous new cars over the years and a couple of used ones, but never have I ever had to walk away from a good car to salvage my finances like I did with my Jetta.
For the record, I’d still purchase another new Volkswagen if I won the PowerBall lottery. I really like these vehicles, especially the Atlas.
I purchased my Jetta new, the price was far and the vehicle was on par with its competiton. The fuel mileage was absolutely amazing. The maintenance expense on the other hand was catastrophic.
I followed the maintenance intervals faithfully though very costly and two recalls were taken care of immediately, but when my extended warranty expired the repair bills amounted to nearly $4,000.00 just to pass a safety inspection on a very well maintained vehicle. The Volkswagen service department as really stickin’ it to me, and the independent garages weren’t any better.
I’ve never paid a $4,000.00 repair bill for any car in my life and I wasn’t going to start now. Instead of moving forward with these repairs, I sold the car back to the dealership and purchased bus tickets (for real).
Steer clear of Volkswagen unless you’re leasing with the intention of returning the car when the warranty expires.
I’m still shaking my head over this fiasco.

The Westmorland plant was so bad they leveled it to the ground. The reason VW's sales is so bad is people got tired of the higher costs of ownership and moved on. Perception is a bitch. In the 2000's they had oil issues, timing belt issues, electrical gremlins, water pump issues, harness shorts, coil failures to name a few I think QC is a big issue here. Might be why some have hellish experiences and others do ok. It does not matter if the new ones are any good. Their customer base already moved on a LONG TIME ago. VW sales are in the crapper and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Labor hours are way too high these days to take that gamble. A few years back I contemplated on buying a GTI again. But I just couldn't do it. I wanted a 100K bumper to bumper extended warranty and it was going to cost way too much (VW does not have much faith in their product). Ended up buying a Mazda MX5 and it was the best built car I've ever driven. Just amazing quality.
