Got to do security for Ryche back in 2001, first night of that tour it was in Phx. That entire day was crazy and incredible. But what I remember most about hanging w/ Ryche most of the day and night was how cool, fun and just a regular guy Michael was. We sat backstage laughing about the 80's styles while asking what were we really thinking back then? We talked about guitars, guitars, guitars. At the end of the show someone got on stage on his side and grabbed one of his Les Pauls threw it into the crowd. I was on the other side of the stage and I just happened to see the guitar flying out into the crowd. I took off running into the crowd, got outside and saw a guy running with it across the parking lot. I caught up to him, we got into a bit of a fight, didn't take long (cause my day job was working Maximum level corrections for the State of AZ.. I had him on the ground pretty quick. Got the guitar and took it backstage and handed it to Michael who had already kicked a hole in the dressing room door, he was so pissed. But when he saw me with it, he came up took the guitar, and gave me a hug and thanked me. For me that was the end of it.. But, nope. He later on found me before they were getting on the bus to leave and gave me a box full of Ryche swag and everything was signed by all the members of Ryche. Even Geoff who I will say was disappointing that day, he was in full on diva mode the entire day. But he signed everything too, and he had the band take a photo with me. He didn't have to do any of that, nor was I expecting any of it.

Why to this day does Rage For Order still not get the love, appreciation & props it's been so long overdue?? THAT is the album where they came into their own. THAT is the moment where they sounded like no other artist on the planet. NOT on Op: MC. Mindcrime is beyond amazing but Rage is when they really made the 1st big move to establish themselves. And it's packed full with truly great well written songs. This video comes off like cut clips of him answering the interviewer's specific questions. I don't believe Whip himself would just skip over Rage if he was openly talking about Ryche's history.

Sure enough came across a bus sitting in lot, the driver said it was their bus and they'd be out soon. About 20 minutes later, here comes these dudes walking towards us, it was them, couldn't believe it. It was only about 6 of us, they hung, talked, signed autographs for a while, such cool guys. The put the hard work In, they taking their fair share of beatings. For all you people that think this band is not valid, due to members changing, here's what I have to say. When you have been through a quarter of what these guys have, then you can almost begin to speak intelligently about "Queensryche" I support this band through and through, they are still putting out solid material. I think there was an era they weren't, they recognized it, and fix it. That is a real band!

Having watched both Michael and Geoff interviews on this channel, I suddenly realized why I became such a huge Queensrÿche fan. They both say the same thing in their separate interviews about how they got their inspiration from European and NWOBHM bands. Being a 13-14 year old impressionable kid, my first two favorite hard rock bands were Judas Priest and Iron Maiden followed quickly by Accept, Grim Reaper, Scorpions, etc.. As I got older, I got heavily into progressive rock of Rush, Pink Floyd, Genesis, and Yes, and it's undeniable that this is exactly where Queensrÿche was at. I've been a huge fan since Operation Mindcrime came out and saw them opening for Metallica in 1988, but it wasn't until relatively recently that I finally realized the connection. Seems obvious in retrospect, but not all of us are students of music theory, we just know what we like and that's it. The late 80's and early 90's were a magical time for hard rock and metal, and I'm glad that I grew up in the middle of it.

Michael is such a unique musician and such a professional. I really like his playing and how much of a team player is without being over-indulgent as a guitarist. His solos within the songs are great as well.

Your video here gave me a much-needed reacquaintance with this amazing band! Don't get me wrong, I listen to their work fairly regularly in my normal music rotation, however, I have yet to really sit down and work on their material on the guitar, even though I have wanted to since I was a kid. My future practice will employ some of their amazing songs that I have been dreaming of playing since my youth! Thanks!

Queen of the Reich comes out in the early 80s. I’m a sophomore in high school and a guitarist buddy of mine comes running down the hall with the EP in the air yelling “you have to hear this!” It was a game changer. What was great to find out later was that QR was only about three/four years older than we were, at the time. It was an awesome time to be a musician. Great interview with Michael and I’m looking forward to the next videos.

I grew up listening to Seattle grunge and metal, and became a huge Queensryche fan about 15 years ago. I've been stationed in the Seattle area with the Army for the last few years and finally had the chance to see them play live this past weekend. By some strange coincidence my friend and I happened to be staying in the same hotel as the band and when we went for breakfast the next morning we happened to be sitting in the table next to the band. We got to meet and talk with Michael and Eddie. They are both true, down to earth people and I will never forget that moment! They are both class acts and I am an even bigger fan of their music after meeting them in person.

If you haven’t already seen the other interviews, many of them get continued or part 2. What I’ve noticed is they cut out any filler, including whoever is asking the questions (sometimes can hear them faintly react or laugh). I love it! Hope more people subscribe and support this channel so they keep lifting out more. Can’t get enough…it’s EXACTLY my era and influences, especially QR!!

In 1985, I worked at a hotel front desk. There was one of our cute guest sitting in the lobby jamming on the guitar. Just him, his wife, my coworker and I. My response, Dang you’re good. Are you in a band?😂😂😂 My bf has their symbol tattoo on his back. First time I saw it, “Hey I met Michael”.

Michael, when Chris left, I commented on a feed, that maybe then, you'd get the opportunity to shine brighter.
    You stepped up, admirably.
As a fan since "The Warning", I'd love to see, (and believe it can happen!) the unicorn, that would be a all original members tour, for us, the fans.
I wouldn't be delusional and think you'd be hunky dory, buddy's.
But travel on different tour buses, use different entrances, room on different floors in the hotel's, and give the fans what they are truly deserving of.
I know money has been offered for this, so please, before it's to late.
It's pretty hard to take someone on tour after they die!

Micheal WAS Queensryche. He did the mo s t amazing rifts and classical undertones in the ballads. Jeff was one of the most versatile vocalists in the world because of his low tones that would suddenly gp into these high notes however, Micheal is the one that made them. No more to say. Love this channel.
