    I always liked the iconic sounds of a Tele and a Strat, but I'm really surprised by the sweet sound of the Jaguar! Great to hear those guitar/pickup styles in comparison, gives me a much better idea of the sounds than I had before.

    I like the idea of the db's being measured. I hate how most "tone" comparisons are way to subjective. Would love to see a step further and see an actual sound spectrum analysis.

    Very detailed, well done .For me a short version with each pick up positions on clean settings would be perfect. Not a bash just quick video for those who understand the differences to just hear the pick up comparison.

      Im not sure if you realised but the end of part 2 has basically that (goes through all 7 on the neck, then on the bridge, same playstyle). It has clean and dirty for each, so not exactly what you wanted but its still only 6 minutes.

    Love the Jag, they’re super cool. However, i don’t like that they took all the unique switching options away. That was the fun of a jag!!! Still a great guitar though.

    Squier totally should start manufacturing copies of these new Jaguar and Jazzmasters by US Fender.
    Maple board, and Series Wiring? That's a dream come true.
    I would be the first one to buy it.

    I added the Fender Hot Noiseless pickups to my Fender Mexican Stratocaster hooked up to a Fender Blues Junior IV Tweed amp with a Ibanez Sonic Distortion Mod this rig is Serious Blues guitar Single Coil pickups are fine nothing wrong with them But the Noiseless pickups are just so much more I don't have the 60 cycle hum A big difference

    Good video guys! I only wanted to say that pickups in American Professional Jaguar and Jazzmaster are completely different from what you will find in a typical jazzmaster and jaguar. Typical jazzmaster sounds nothing like what is shown here.

  • @drunkaviator81
    @drunkaviator81 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good comparison, but you really need to roll the volume pot down to 8-9 on the JM, as the pickup basically runs open at 10 due to the pots, and sounds thin and harsh. Roll the volume to 8, and you'll get thick warm tones unlike any other Fender, you can get PAF sounds out of the bridge (vol 8, tone 3)!

  • @Rene-tu3fc

    to me, the jaguar would be a perfect guitar if not for the bridge and vibrato going out of tune so easily (and the smaller scale length). but it's so damn beautiful

    Thank you

    • @ThomannsGuitarsBasses
      @ThomannsGuitarsBasses  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, that sounds simple but it's not. 😆 Tube amps kind of need volume to sound great so I'd go for a
      -Katana 100 combo (the 100 for the bigger cabinet - more bass),
      -Line6 Catalyst 60 or 100
      -Quilter Overdrive 202
      -Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb (this isn't the tube version, it's a modeller and amazing for low volumes too)
      If you really want a tube amp, maybe try the Fender 68 Custom Princeton. Cheers //Kris

    Great lesson Guthrie as usual ! Just got an HAAR Stratocaster with Suhr ML pickups modern set..Sounds awesome but look for a warmer neck pickup ( I remember the Fat 50 I had on a Stratocaster years ago, but NO BLUES SPECIAL sound for me..!). Which set is warmer , bassier ? An slightly higher output , well balanced with the fuller bass sound you can get ! Fender , Fralin, lollar , Raw power, Kloppman 62, another bnand or model please ..Thanks for your answer, best regards from France

    9:30 Sorry, but I disagree here... It might not sound like Texas Special singlecoils, but it still does sound like singlecoils, including "vintage singlecoils"... because let's not forget there's not one and only one kind of vintage singlecoils, but multiple ones. You can even pick two exact same strat from the exact same year of product with same pickups, setup, etc... and they would still sound different, with even more differences between them than between this Elite Strat and a Vintage one.
    And if you don't believe, go check the video done by a german guy (in English) that compare two original '54 Fender Strat, supposed to be identical that sound absolutely not the same. Not worse or better, just "different". Depending your style of playing, music genre and what you're looking for, you might like one model over the other, but it someone else with another style of playing, music genre, might like the other.
    It's just different in the end... just like the Elite Strat is different from the Texas Special, but still sound very singlecoil-ish.

    • @teacuppermike2568

      The Edge played a 1973 Strat, with a DiMarzio FS1 bridge pickup (25% louder and warmer than a standard Strat bridge pickup), and the middle and neck pickups were stock. The FS1 and the stock Fender pickups have Alnico 5 magnets.

      I believe Clapton used a Stratocaster with 3 Lace Golds and, of course, it sounds outstanding. Lace has a few videos on TH-cam demoing them, and I'd say I recommend the 3 standard Golds more than the Fender Noiseless because of Lace's superior tone and noise cancelling.

  • @eltimbalerdelbruc1414

    I thought noiseless pick ups are in essence humbuckers

    • @elijahw1931
      @elijahw1931 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      He says in the video, noiseless single coils are stacked humbuckers. The top coil actually picks up sound and the bottom coil is primarily there to cancel hum.

    • @likeanuuk6612
      @likeanuuk6612 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      theyre technically humbuckers, but theyre not really considered humbuckers because theyre the closest thing to having noiseless passive single coil pickup sounds. they dont sound like a traditional humbucker

    • @christianboddum8783
      @christianboddum8783 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      In essence yes, but there is a little more to it. If the bottom coil is without magnets passing through, the signal will not be hot like a humbucker, it'll just buck the hum. There might be a little change in the top end (because of higher resistance), but using the right pots and a little eq change, can make the difference next to nothing. Having the phase correct is crucial if you want to split them, for real singlecoil sound, you don't want to hear the bottom coil!! The DiMarzio HS-2 sounds great split (top coil). Mojotone Quiet coils or GFS neo-vintage are side by side rails wound for a vintage sound (low resistance) and are a different approach to noisecancelling, still humbucking, but probably not good for coil splitting. Hotter rail pickups will work better coilsplitting, but not give you the sweeter sounds of vintage winds. Rails pickups works best with ceramic pickups. I like Kent Armstrong cool rails as a great middle ground in parallel wiring (4K) sounding close to a DiMarzio Cruiser, giving a strong clear sound, better bass than a single coil and great clarity FWIW
