I don’t think anyone underestimates his quality as an actor, on the contrary. But he surely opts for the less comfortable roles, making him less approachable maybe. Top three actors on my list without a doubt
If you look at German actors in German television you'll wonder how any of them graduated from acting school so this isn't surprising at all. The best actors are always naturals.
THAT is his true legacy. I'm 66 and am still waking up to some of the atrocities that we as a society overlook (e.g. factory farms). Joaquin sees them and calls them out. He is a leader.
My no 1 actor. He doesn’t impersonate Napoleon, he transforms into his very own Napoleon. Despite the age difference, despite the brooding nature, he makes his Napoleon as believable as he made his Joker. What an actor.
If you think you knew Napoleon, watch Joaquin’s Napoleon. Beneath that General charisma was a very angry, multi dimensional, complicated character which only Joaquin can bring them out. You will feel his turbulence, his anguish, his regrets at every war and love scenes.
He is absolutely, without question, one of the greatest actors of all time. And it would appear that he is an exceptional human being and a person we can all learn from.
Been a big fan of his since Signs, where he made the move to me. Her was another level of how his characters elevated a film. I find it kind of beautiful that he finally achieved that ultimate prize as if he is carrying the ghost of his beloved lost brother.
Reading your comment I remembered he was in that movie. I liked it honestly, I'm not a sci-fi kinda movie guy but that was one of the first that I truly liked. I was younger but still the movie was good overall.
He is my favorite actor. He brings authenticity to every role he plays. He is brilliant and captivating. I’m glad he made it out of the cult. I’m so saddened every time I think about his beautiful brother.
I just love him. I truly believe that he is the greatest actor of all time! I hope Hollywood treats him with grace and admiration. If he's in a movie, I will be there.
The way you narrated the whole story and how you paused and soothed before saying RIVER PHEONIX..... Man that spike of happiness was real!! You've earned another subscriber.
I liked Joaquin in most of his movies, even starting young in Parenthood, but I realized he was one of the world's most brilliant actors when I saw him in Gladiator, which was also a phenomenal movie. He played the role of Commodus so deeply and brilliantly I was speechless. And since then I have really liked most of his roles in movies. So talented and way beyond the average actor. His brother would be proud (I also loved his brother River, and it was a shame he OD'd just like we lost Heath Ledger). I didn't know he named his first child River, that is so thoughtful and sweet. I think in Rooney Mara he really found his soulmate. Go Joaquin!
I hope he watches this video. It was well made and shows how much understanding some one has of his work and person. I could see him smiling to this tribute.
Seriously, take a good look at Joaquin's reaction after Russell Crowe acknowledged him at 7:23 , the man is so intense, so vulnerable, sensitive and raw. I don't know how to put this, it's like he's never really acting because he's always himself or is it the other way around, he's never really himself because he's always acting?
That 911 Dispatcher was inept. I did 20 years in Fire Rescue here in Florida (firefighter/paramedic). You NEVER tell people in crisis to calm down. You don’t admonish them or speak to them like that. You lead by example. YOU remain calm and redirect that energy. Telling someone to calm down like that only serves to derail their train of thought and slows the entire critical process down. That dispatcher/911 operator was undoubtedly burned out and didn’t care one way or the other.
He has always been an enigma. I have enjoyed him as a actor. His facial expressions and his mad acting skills can leave one in awe, inspired or uncomfortable depending on the role. Just saying though all these actors wanting to play the "Joker" usually ends up seriously mental afterwards. Heath Ledger for one.
"Joker" (as we know) protrayed an utterly broken, hopeless, desperate human being with seemingly nowhere to turn. Reminded me eerily SO much of my ex when he got drunk & a vulnerable side came out, even the mannerisms. Regression ?, a damaged part of him that never matured emotionally ? You really nailed it Joaquin, even the traumatic laughter, the self soothing after killing the bastards on the subway . One of the grittiest, best performances EVER, not afraid of descending to the depths of darkness needed. Totally believable
My dad took me to see 'Walk the line' when it came out and I'm so glad he did. He introduced me to the man of mystery who is Joaquin Phoenix. I became an instant fan of his after seeing his riveting performance as he portrayed Johnny Cash and watched all of his movies after that. Although method acting can be very dangerous, every performance that comes out of him is masterful. I really enjoyed this video you brought to us it was so well put together.
Joaquin Phoenix is an amazing actor and one of my favorites! His movies are very immersive and relatable! Such a wonderful tribute to name his son after his brother River. It’s obvious with Joaquin’s battle with his own addiction problems that River’s death was a very painful loss for him. May River R.I.P. and may God bless Joaquin to continue to succeed in overcoming his battle with addiction with His love and mercy❤
Much respect for Joaquin Phoenix. Method acting has to be very tolling, mentally, physically, etc. He's stellar.... River would, no doubt, be so proud! ❤
...a brilliant individual. One of the few people who recognizes the balance between life and death. How to fail, and begin again. How to be destroyed and breath life back into yourself. He makes me think of whats important and what is simply a famous rumor of temporary, popularity. A gifted person indeed...
I loved him in signs and his role of the comforting brother within a home of family who just lost their mother was his most tender character, I always believed his name in that film his name was Merril, very similar to Miracle and his swing away literally saved his family's life.
I've only watched three episodes of Du Cinema, and they were/are all exceptionally well done. This one actually evoked a considerable amount of emotion in me, partially because of the subject himself, but also because of how it was put together. Amazing work.
not if i see you first, lost my brother about two years ago, i understand his pain, and his problems, joker reflects well on the mental state of that sort of loss
Thank you for making this awesome Video. Joaquim is sometimes hard to watch in his films, because he dives so deep in his role that you think he'll gives to much.
Most of my favorite movies star Joaquin. Even his "mockumentary" was amazing! But for real, his Joker performance was something else. That made him #1 in my book.
He was incredible in joker, it's not just the big obvious things like the different laughs, it's the little things like when he's running down the corridor and he runs like he's got clown shoes on, that's when i realised just how good he is.
Joaquin Phoenix embodies perfection. Joaquin made me hate the emperor to the core. Ridley Scott used Joaquin's talents to the full in Gladiator. Joaquin Phoenix is one of the most talented, iconic actors of all time not only in just Hollywood, but in the world itself.
he is sometimes hard to watch, the vulnerability is so raw that it is uncomfortable. Genius actor, the Joker blew me away....his character loveable, awkward, despicable...umami of cinema
It seems great minds think alike! We're working on our own Joaquin Phoenix documentary that will come out in a few weeks. Good stuff. And bravo on the packaging ;)
Looking forward to it brother! Joaquin has morphed himself into so many different shapes and forms that I opted to give a new interpretation to your inspired packaging. Keep it up and may The Dodford Paradox continue 🫡
I like Heath’s joker better, but now seeing that clip again “can you call me Joker?” I understand his version more. He’s like the Mirror’s Edge of actors. Walk the Line was dope
Mr Phoenix knows how to pick interesting roles & act them. Commodus and Napoleon are 2 of the most interesting people from history to me. Heath Ledgers Joker was the best acted character to date when Joaquin chose to play the Joker. I wonder how Commodus would have been as an emporer if his sister didn't kill his lover and attempt to kill him so early into his reign. He had the support of the people by more than any other after paying all Roman men, he funded the most games and personally fought in the Colosseum 100s of times. He had the support of his army due to pulling out of Germania. And he was the first son of an emperor to become emperor in the ~200 years of Roman empire, son of the Marcus Aurelius no less. The movie was light compared to what Commodus really became, he believed he was the reincarnation of Hercules, son of Jupiter and went to name every month after the 12 titles he gave to himself etc etc. Napoleon is more known, I hope they do justice to some of his reforms and policies, smart guy. As for the Joker, a really well acted role but there are many better roles I think.
I have always been a fan of Joaquin, I think the first time I saw him act in anything was Gladiator, but seeing him in Quills (one of my favourite films), Signs, and The Village, I knew I was a fan. I also loved Her and Walk the Line, and of course he absolutely nailed the Joker. He deserved to win that Oscar finally, though I think that most of his roles deserved to win. I have been skipping the Oscars for a long time now, like, the last one I went out of my way to watch was when Return of the King won Best Picture...but I made a point to watch the one where Joaquin won for Joker, and his acceptance speech had me sobbing by the end of it, and still whenever I hear it, I am brought to tears. He deserves all the awards, praise, and acclaim, and thank you for this video! He is a complex person, an outstanding actor, and so deeply emotional and talented...I didn't know they were making another Joker, but I'm very excited to see him play the role again! Apparently it's a musical and Lady Gaga is playing Harley!
Jaoquin is among the best leading men in Hollywood today . He is a true craftsmen and practices his craft like no other . I appreciate that he maintains his privacy and because of that can maintain Grace both as a performer and a person .
After his portrayal of Commodus I had feelings of hate towards him for years after every time seeing his face, only great actors can leave that kind of lasting impression on you.

@@existentialhangover1124 believe it or not, but the public really doesn't care about a missing letter in a perfectly understandable sentence. But great that you yourself feel better now that you were able to correct a random persons TH-cam-comment. Good for you 😄
@@grishashipulina4904 It's actually two letters, but go on prioritise arguing over literally anything else.

When he speaks, I deeply feel that we are all brothers and sisters, human and animal. An extraordinary actor, a humble man, and a role model for us all. Much love and peace ✌️
I wish there were more people like him. I see only hate and absurd abuse.
This man’s work moves me to tears. He is extraordinary.
I honestly feel like Joaquin has been underrated as an actor. He embraces the characters he plays and brings out emotions in his audiences in every one of his performances. Can't wait to see what he comes up with next.❤
I don’t think anyone underestimates his quality as an actor, on the contrary. But he surely opts for the less comfortable roles, making him less approachable maybe.
Top three actors on my list without a doubt
He is one of the best actors in history and didn't even graduate from acting school at all. What an alien...
If you look at German actors in German television you'll wonder how any of them graduated from acting school so this isn't surprising at all.
The best actors are always naturals.
You don t graduate, they graduate you. School s overrated in most cases*. You can be a natural. * except STEM.
Whom are to judge his background and lack of "acting school".
We love him. He sees what needs to change and he is a voice for the VOICELESS
Absolutely!
...and they barely do mention it here... A joke...
@@k.vn.kYesss. Love him in Napoleon!
Did you watch the movie? He must be great in Napoleon
@@norm-bb3bb i got early access and yes it’s one of the best this year
@@k.vn.k Im surprised he didn't invade a small island to get into character.
❤️
Does anyone know the song that plays at 9:15? My brother used to play it on the piano but I don't rember the name
I remember seeing him in Signs when I was in my teens and thought man, who is this guy? He’s kinda weird but I couldn’t look away. Great actor.
Go Joaquin!
I love that man. He’s so talented and so genuine. You can feel how good his heart is.
Does anyone know the song that plays at 9:15? My brother used to play it on the piano but I don't rember the name
I hope he watches this video. It was well made and shows how much understanding some one has of his work and person. I could see him smiling to this tribute.
I think Robert DeNiro did a great job playing himself in The Joker.
That's your defence? You're crazy?
@@Herr.P Defense? Lol, no, you're an idiot. DeNiro is literally being himself in that movie.
You thought so too eh?
😂How do you know who" the real Robert de nero, was it is??" To know who he really is like..
@doescancho1266 We know because he has social media, says dumb stuff, and actively proves that he is the worst.
He's up there among the greatest actors, IMO...
EVERYTHING he touches turn to GOLD!!! I only wish his brother River was still here with him to share in all his accomplishments 💔❤️
Does anyone know the song that plays at 9:15? My brother used to play it on the piano but I don't rember the name
Why doesn't this have a billions views yet....Well done interspective of a life.
Did not expect this to make me as emotional as it did. God, I love him so much.
I love, GOD more!
A gifted person indeed...
the fact that Ducinema could translate the depth of such multilayered genius is an art of its own, how gifted!
You cannot just watch a Joaquin Phoenix movie without going down that slide of insanity with him.
How true
I loved him in signs and his role of the comforting brother within a home of family who just lost their mother was his most tender character, I always believed his name in that film his name was Merril, very similar to Miracle and his swing away literally saved his family's life.
I've only watched three episodes of Du Cinema, and they were/are all exceptionally well done. This one actually evoked a considerable amount of emotion in me, partially because of the subject himself, but also because of how it was put together. Amazing work.
A wonderfully edited and produced video. Wow.
not if i see you first, lost my brother about two years ago, i understand his pain, and his problems, joker reflects well on the mental state of that sort of loss
He's easily one of the best actors.
It is a crime that he didn't win best actor for Gladiator
100 percent agreed, that was when I realized Joaquin was truly in the upper deck of actors.
Best supporting actor
Can’t lie Crowe was too good
Loved this - thank you so much for your time and effort! Liked and subscribed from the first vid I've seen - keep on keeping on bro!
He already MADE it... He's Iconic 💯🔥🔥
Brov I've been a big fan of JP for a long time. But you did justice to him with this. Well done
he is sometimes hard to watch, the vulnerability is so raw that it is uncomfortable. Genius actor, the Joker blew me away....his character loveable, awkward, despicable...umami of cinema
He’s been a favorite of mine since 8mm. It’s been awesome watching his rise.
Same. I loved him in 8mm and that's when I was like... I love watching this man.
Joachin Phoenix is my favourite actor. He is a very complex and unique person, and takes his craft very seriously. Thank you for this amazing video.
Great piece of summary content - well done, whoever produced this
His performance in Joker was absolutely amazing. I haven't seen all of his movies, but from the films I have seen, Joker ranks #1.
100% INFP....such an amazing actor, who understands emotions and exactly how to play it into his role.
What a beautiful tribute, great editing and music choices ❤
props to the editor and the writer of this video. its just amazing.
The 911 dispatcher was so rude. Calm down or hand the phone to someone else. Yikes. It was his brother dead. So sad.
Didn't know he was there wen it happened 🤔
Easily one of the most talented actors ever to have graced this earth. What a genius. ❤
Does anyone know the song that plays at 9:15? My brother used to play it on the piano but I don't rember the name
I watched 'You Were Never Really Here' over and over again 🎬🎥🎞️🍿🎥
"If you can't calm down hand the phone to someone else" is actually crazy work
I have always been a fan of Joaquin, I think the first time I saw him act in anything was Gladiator, but seeing him in Quills (one of my favourite films), Signs, and The Village, I knew I was a fan.
Agreed!
After his portrayal of Commodus I had feelings of hate towards him for years after every time seeing his face, only great actors can leave that kind of lasting impression on you.
Je bent een van de weinige Nederlanders waarbij ik bijna niet kan horen dat je Nederlands bent, pas op het einde "from my country" ;) heb genoten van dit filmpje, geweldig speler!
Joaquin, if you ever read this, I deeply resonate with your work and the pain you've endured. Your hard work and perseverance inspire ordinary people like me to keep going. Thank you for being a beacon of strength and motivation.
I loved him in the joker that’s my favorite role of his and I loved him in HER , his vulnerability and softness in that movie was touching
In The Master he gives probably one of the greatest performances of all time
This guy Is ELITE actor , id say only 1 actor outa 100 anywhere near him,up there with the likes of daniel day lewis .
Dude, amazing video.
His portrait of Joker is so powerful and impressive that I see some Joker moments sneaking out from him when he was delivering his Oscar-winning speech. Legend.
I think Joaquin phoenix should have got the OSCAR in Gladiator ❤
Since watching “The Master” in 2012 I would tell everyone who would listen to watch the movie and that he was the best actor. I’m glad he finally got his full due in “The Joker”
When I first learned of Joaquin as River's younger brother, I really didn't know what to think of him. But as time went on and I seen him in several movies, my respect and admiration for him grew to soring heights. He is definitely one of the finest and best actors to hit the screne. I wish him the best always...
A legend. "I'm still here" confused everyone. His work in the joker makes it one of the best films ever made.
He's remained an authentic actor, true to the part, and only playing roles he can relate to.
He is a misunderstood masterpiece..
Thanks man..I learn a lot about my favourite actor..you deserve a sub
🙏💪
After watching your Ryan Gosling and Jake Gyllenhaal videos I finally caught an actor study of yours live! (well- on the day this video is published haha) Love your choice and way with words, and even tho I've never seen even a single Joaquin Phoenix movie yet (yes, I should be buried, and yes I am omw to watch now!) I loved your analysis- like always! Keep being you man, hope more success gets to you ❤
Thank you for your awesome words, truly means a lot. I would definitely recommend to watch "Her" as the first movie. It was the first movie I watched of him as well 🙏
I hope Napoleon with him is going to be good
I'm also hyped afff
He has such a raw quality about him. I loved him playing Johnny Cash! Amazing!
